Apple Tree Bungalow in Redruth, Cornwall, is praised for its cleanliness, central location, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the safe garden for dogs, the thoughtful touches like milk and biscuits, and the property's convenience for exploring South West Cornwall. Despite being on a busy road, the traffic noise is minimal, and the property is well-regarded for its comfort and cleanliness.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The bungalow is consistently described as clean, with one review specifically noting a 'nice fresh smell' and another highlighting its spotless presentation. The high level of cleanliness contributes significantly to the positive guest experience.

The location is deemed very central and good for exploring South West Cornwall. Although one review mentions it being on a busy road, the traffic noise does not seem to be a significant issue, and the convenience of a local shop and bus service is noted.

Comfort is highlighted with mentions of a comfortable bed and the overall well-presented nature of the bungalow. The only minor negative comment relates to the absence of a night storage heater in the main bedroom, which is replaced by a convector heater.

Facilities are generally praised, with the property described as well-equipped. However, one review suggests removing a local pub from the recommended list due to poor catering, and another mentions the need for a mirror in the bathroom for shaving, indicating some room for improvement.

Guests mention thoughtful gestures such as the provision of milk and biscuits, and festive decorations during a Christmas stay. While these touches are appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, although delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Resting in the quaint village of Lanner, a charming settlement just a short drive from neighbouring Redruth lies the delightful, two-bedroom home of Apple Tree Bungalow. Featuring off-road parking for three cars, an enclosed furnished courtyard, and a collection of well-appointed living spaces set across the ground-floor, this lovely dwelling makes a perfect base for a family or even couples seeking a relaxing, fuss-free escape to Cornwall. Park up on the private driveway before you take a step into your wonderful new home-from-home. Inside, you will discover a fully-equipped kitchen housing all the appliances the chosen chef will need to rustle up tasty, home-cooked dinners, whilst a well-presented living/dining room invites you and your loved ones to kick back and unwind with a film on the TV as you plan the rest of your stay. When the sun has set, be sure to refresh with an indulgent soak in the bath before you head for a well-earned slumber in either a plush king-size or twin bedroom. If you can tear yourself from your tranquil new lodgings, slip your shoes on and set out to discover what your local region has in store. On foot, a brief stroll will bring you to Lanner Stores, a convenience selling homely essentials to supply your visit, whilst a hearty pub lunch can be savoured at the pet-friendly Lanner Inn, so your canine companion doesn't have to be left out! You'll also find a fish and chip shop in the village for when you fancy a break from cooking one evening, along with a plethora of rural walks such as The Great Flat Lode, mountain bike trails, and the Carn Marth Quarry fishing lake. Further afield, the noteworthy landmarks of the Basset Monument and the Kennall Vale Nature Reserve are easily accessed by car, as is the coastal town of Falmouth, home to a wealth of must-see attractions such as Pendennis Castle, the Swanvale Nature Reserve, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, and the golden stretch of Gyllyngvase Beach. All of this and more is yours to enjoy when you book a stay at Apple Tree Bungalow.

Just outside Redruth on the road towards Falmouth, Lanner was once part of Cornwall’s mining epicentre. Today, the village is welcoming and friendly, with a number of convenience stores, a bakery, a village hall and several good pubs. Carn Marth overlooks Lanner village from its hilltop location; a former granite quarry, this is now a lovely place for a walk or cycle. Nearby Carn Brea is worth a visit too; here you will find a Medieval castle (now a restaurant), which once belonged to Lord Bassett, the most influential mine owner in the area during the 18th and 19th centuries. The beaches at Portreath and Porthtowan are just a short drive from Lanner, and there are several off-road cycle trails in the area, including the Coast to Coast Trail which follows the original tramway from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south.

The property was ideal as visiting family living in the area. The bungalow is on a very busy road but we didn't notice the traffic noise. We appreciated the cleanliness of the property and kitchen facilities ( ate in on three evenings). Fish and chip shop down the road excellent. Also plenty of walking trails from the bungalow. Walked to the quarry and on to the Star Inn for well needed refreshment - dog friendly. Also took the dog along to the Fox and Hounds for our evening meal. Would book this property again when visiting the area. Thank the owners for the milk and biscuits provided. Much appreciated after a 10 hour drive.

Good bus service runs just outside the door and local shop just down the road. The Coppice is a busy pub but we had an excellent Sunday carvery lunch there. Couldn’t fault it ! Lots of places to visit from here and we would recommend this property.
