What our customers say about their holidays

      Where does one start?

Port View is one of three apartments on different floors (number 5), above us was the quiet number 6, but on the top (number 7) was a different kettle of fish. Our first night was ruined by the noisy sounds of a music rave which lasted until the early hours of Saturday. We had an inkling something was wrong when around 4pm on the Friday afternoon, when a number of people entered the complex (our apartment is right by the front door) shouting on the stairs etc, and our concerns grew when loud music began to play. The volume increased during the evening and at that point we were thinking of going home. We went out for a meal hoping on our return everything would have quieted down. No such luck, in fact on our return we saw for ourselves one young man shouting from a top window, the entry code to the complex to his mates below on the road. Consequently more people entered the building and we began to feel nervous of what could happen to us. Next day we informed Sykes and to their credit got things sorted out with a promise we would not be disturbed again. (Port View is the only apartment under Sykes’ control) The rest of the week was quiet, but it did leave us on edge waiting for something else to kick off. Another problem about Port View is where it is. We read the owners instructions on how to find the apartment which were wholly inadequate and poorly written, in fact it needed a phone call to the very helpful manager (Sue) prior to going, to sort out how to approach the building. Another hassle was the parking of the car in the allotted parking space. Our car is a Mini but we still found it tight. One morning we entered the garage to find another car parked right by us which would have prevented us from accessing the car (by luck we hadn’t planned using it), if we had it would have required one of us to open the car window and squeeze through head first!! Overall it was a hard holiday, unable to really feel relaxed, with concerns over apartment 7, and issues with the parking. This leads to the question of Port View’s suitability as a holiday let, and should it really be included in Sykes’ portfolio? Can I end stating once again that the company did a great job in handling our problems and concerns, we had no complaints about the comfort of Port View either, but needless to say , we will not be coming back.

Well where do I start, on arrival we found the key lock box old and in need of a new one, the front door and the mat full of dirt and cobwebs, entering the apartment the wood flooring was springy and the beading that goes on the wood flooring to the skirting was rotten, in the bed room we found cobwebs between the beds on the skirting which tells me that there is not much cleaning going on, and that showed all through the apartment, by the fridge there was a nail sticking out of the beading which is very dangerous and as we had our dog she could have caught herself, as for the cooker well there is no way we were going to use it as dirty and rusty, the armchair has seen better days, the Wi-Fi was very hit and miss, then we come to what I would call the main problem which is the sliding doors they did not close properly there was a big gap at the bottom where we had to put a tea towel to try and block the gap, on going out onto the decked balcony it has not been treated so it was like an ice rink when it got wet, looking at the guttering over the sliding doors it is all smashed which causes a big draft, the beds were ok but no brilliant, on a positive note the views from the balcony are stunning, it all really needs a good makeover, we have taken photos if you need to see what we mean, it did spoil a holiday as the pictures that a on your website look nice, but unfortunately it wasn’t, I hope we get a reply from yourselves or the owners, perhaps yourselves and/or the owners should pay a visit to check things out, as it is not worth the money we paid, very disappointing

We arrived on the Saturday, to a door and windows full of cob webs , once in, there was a socket loose in the hall way, The sink and toilet in the bathroom were clean (ya !

!) the floor had ground in trainer print of what I can say was dog poo, which I scraped off and hopped it ( I didn’t want to get out the shower and stand on the floor.) The kitchen I spent 3 hours getting the hob clean so I could use it, the surfaces needed cleaning too. I bought a frying pan, because the one in the apartment, was caked with burnt on grease in side and out. There was No cleaning stuff in the apartment, (I bought some, which I bought home) we took photos and sent them on to the owner When I contacted the owner she did come out, next day, with 2 bags of cleaning stuff, and flowers for us to say sorry, for a bad start to our holiday. she did ask if we wanted a cleaner to come in, only problem was I had done it. In my opinion the apartment needs a rip out , and start again. The one thing I can say, is the views from apartment were to die for, the locals very friendly. I would holiday in the area again but Not at 16 Seaspray.

Not As Clean As We Thought No Cooker It Was Not Working A-tall.

Car Parks Really Need Looking Into. As It’s A Long Walk Away From Seaspray People Parking Where You Want To Get Closer To The Flat. When You’re 70 Years Old You Don’t Need Any Stress Or Anxiety Carrying Things And Luggage Up Hills And Down Hills Really Terrible. Had Trouble with The Doors Opening And Closing Them. No Lights Out of The Front Very Dark At Night. Really Great To Go Home It Was So Terribly Dark At Seaspray. Only thing that Was Good Was The Great View. Will Not Be Back. It Was Just To Much For Older People To Know What To Expect. We Need A Good Rest To Get Over The Stress Of Staying There. It Looked Great On The Sykes Holiday Menu. But Seeing Is Believing And It Was Not What We Expected From Sykes Holidays. Nothing Went Right. We’re Shattered. It Was A Surfing Community Of People. But Not For US.
