Get away from it all with Norfolk holiday cottages

Every year, over three and a half million people plan their holidays in Norfolk cottages, and it's easy to see why. From the family-friendly fun of Great Yarmouth to the tranquil waterways of the Norfolk Broads and Norfolk Coast area, to Cromer Chalk Reef and Thetford Forest, days in Norfolk are filled with possibility.

It's unlikely you'll get bored of the stunning countryside and unspoilt coastline, but if you're looking for more things to do away from the nature reserves, fear not. The seaside towns of Great Yarmouth and Wells-next-the-Sea boast independent shops, cultural attractions and plenty of dog-friendly pubs too.

To complete your magical escape to this beautiful part of the UK, book one of our wonderful Norfolk holiday cottages. Whether you're on the hunt for a cosy bolthole for a romantic weekend away, or a sprawling barn conversion with enough room for the whole gang, we have self-catering properties to suit every requirement and every occasion.

Why choose a Norfolk weekend break or staycation?

Nestled in glorious East Anglia, Norfolk is awash with cute coastal towns, sweet and sleepy villages, wholesome attractions, and some of the best beaches in the UK.

Ideal if you need a break from the stresses of everyday life, a trip to Norfolk provides relaxation, tranquillity, and non-stop fun.

Norfolk is home to The Broads National Park, one of just ten national parks in England. This incredible park is made up of 32 dedicated reserves, Norfolk wildlife trusts, and much more. You'll also find a series of charming villages, beautiful riverside parks, and more than a few classic pubs to tempt you.

The beaches are one of the main reasons millions of people flock to Norfolk each year. The county has over 90 miles of spectacular coastline waiting to be explored. Each beach offers something special, from wide expanses of pristine sand and sparkling waters to intriguing rock pools and caves.

Holkham Bay in north Norfolk is one of the most incredible beaches in the country, with miles of soft golden sand, grassy dunes, and lush pine forests. When the tide goes out, the beach goes on for as far as you can see, making it an ideal spot for relaxing, building sandcastles, and even going on a horse ride right on the water's edge.

Brancaster Beach is another popular seaside spot. The flat beach is huge, so there's always plenty of space no matter how busy it gets. If you're a fan of water sports then you can try your hand at windsurfing, boogie boarding, and kite surfing.

Or why not visit Cromer Beach in the traditional Victorian seaside resort of Cromer? The wide beach is made of sand and shingle and many of the buildings in Cromer date back to the Victorian era.

For more Victorian fun, stay in the lovely town of Hunstanton, which is perfect for entertaining the whole family. Hunstanton has two excellent beaches, a traditional Victorian town centre, and lots of top Norfolk attractions close by. It's also home to one of the largest colonies of seals in the UK, making seal spotting a must.

When visiting Norfolk, a trip to Sandringham Estate makes for a great day out. The estate was a birthday present from Queen Victoria to the Prince of Wales and his wife Princess Alexandra in 1862. While the house is still used as a royal residence, you can visit the surrounding 600-acre country park for free, exploring the woodland paths and enjoying a picnic on the open grassland. There are also the gardens and museum to explore, which is home to a fantastic collection of royal memorabilia.

Norwich is a popular city in Norfolk, which might be small but packs a lot of things to do. Discover medieval churches and historic houses down narrow alleys and ancient streets, and pop into a huge selection of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants. There are lively markets to enjoy, as well as museums, galleries, a castle, and the stunning Romanesque cathedral.

It's at night that Norfolk is at its most magical, as this incredible county is home to one of the clearest skies in the UK.

Imagine dining outside in one of the quaint fishing villages, with a plate of Norfolk's world-famous seafood in front of you, and the day's last light disappearing all around. A salty sea breeze travelling west from the Atlantic Ocean fills your lungs, while above you, the night skies come to life with millions of twinkling stars everywhere you look.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Emma - Verified booking

We stayed at Red Brick Retreat in November.

Mike the host was great, very friendly, funny and put us instantly at ease. On arrival there was welcome gifts of prosseco, cake, eggs, bread, butter and more. The cottage itself is super cosy, clean and decorated beautifully. It has everything you could need for a break away they haven't forgotten anything. The hot tub is big and very clean and comfortable with built in lights. You're not allowed to go in the hot tub after 10:30pm which isn't ideal for a romantic break but we still loved it. There was no smoking and for this I would suggest allowing a designated outside smoking area as long as guests leave it how they found it. The hot tub was cleaned regularly but unlike some other cottages where the owners turn up without letting you know, Mike would only come through the garden to clean it when he knew we were out or said he would text if we werent going out. Which is really great and adds to the privacy. This cottage is in the owners garden and is right next to their house and the neighbours, this wasn't a problem for us but if you're looking for something more remote then it is worth noting. The bed was super comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for Mike he was very kind and a great host. We've given 5stars because it deserves 5stars.

It was like staying in someone's much loved pied a terre by the sea. The cottage is cosy and homely and has everything you need (apart from parking outside). The beds and bedding were very comfortable - I slept so well, the shower great, decent loo roll. I cooked for much of the week as the kitchen was well equipped. It is 10 steps from Staithe street hence the parking, and I parked at the Buttlands for most of the week for free. It was good to have ideas for walks, and local books to read. Note: the beds are not huge if you are used to King Sized! Very clean. You will hear people walking past in the alleyway outside the front door, but it was not disturbing and there is a bright light outside the front bedroom window so suggest an eye mask if you're used to full darkness for sleep. I'm already planning to return...Many thanks for your comments. Albert’s Cottage does have black out blinds which should block out any light pollution.

The place was absolutely spotless and you can see the care put into it.

ALL the little details really made it, such as, cake, eggs, butter, milk ect there waiting for us, robes, plenty of towels, skimmer for hottub and more. We were welcomed with a friendly Mike who wasn't in a rush to show us around and make sure we were happy with everything. Even though Mike and Julie's property, along with a neighbours, was just behind us, you completely forgot they were there as you rarely saw anyone and had complete privacy in the back garden/hottub where you are encased in your own little sanctuary with all mod cons. The cleanliness was top notch, even the hottub looked like it was brand new and wasn't overfilled with chemicals. If you are after a couples getaway, this is definitely the place to go. Thank you so much

Really lovely property ideally located for Bury, Norwich, Ipswich and the coast.

We were visiting family pre Christmas so out and about all day. It was lovely to return to a cosy base and clean hot tub each evening. The property is very clean with a decent mattress, decent shower, quality towels and plenty of them and hot tub checked daily when we go out. We have stayed at few places in the area and these are the things that make a difference and we will definitely book again. Owners are on hand if you need them but leave you to enjoy your break. The welcome pack was very good too, plenty of tea, coffee and essentials as well as some special treats which we very much enjoyed. Keep up the good work Mike and Julie, you’ve got something very special here.
