What our customers say about their holidays

    • Elizabeth - Verified booking

      You better beeelieve it!

Delightful and surprisingly roomy hut. Clean and comfortable with the addition of a hot tub just outside. Delicious cheese scones, whole lemon drizzle cake, butter and pint of milk were waiting for us on arrival. Very comfortable large bed. Breakfast is available 8-9am to buy at the farmhouse which we tried the first morning. Good choice and both our options were tasty. I believe you can pre-order afternoon tea. Be aware to only open the windows with mesh covers otherwise you will be swarmed with flies. It’s on a farm so I was woken by roosters at 5am and there are plenty of tractors going past. Adds to the charm but perhaps not for those on a working trip. It’s obvious from the pictures but bring walking boots. Could do with a manual. We asked for the WiFi code so could log into tv apps etc on the large tv. Would have been easier if we could turn down the temperature rather than having to open the windows. Also wardrobe/hanging room could be improved with more than one hanger falling off little hooks. There is a remote that we could not work out what it was for - apparently the wicker lamps. My other half mentioned that he hoped the owners would add a hardstanding so cars don’t get stuck in the mud. It looks like there are development plans on site. We had a lovely holiday and visited Norwich, Cambridge, Kings Lynn and Thetford. Would definitely stay there again.

“Scrimshaw Cottage is in a brilliant location, close to the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants of Sheringham. For location, it is probably one of the best we have ever stayed in. It is a lovely cottage, perfectly set up for two people and we really enjoyed our stay there. The sea views are lovely, even on a bad day. Although there is no parking, it is not a problem as there is free roadside parking a five minute walk away or you can buy a weekly pass on the car parks for £28. The car park right next to the cottage doesn't offer weekly passes (but the machine always seemed to be broken - we didn't risk parking there!)
There are lots of good places to eat and drink in Sheringham and plenty of takeaways too. It is a lovely place to spend time and we would love to go back there in the future.”

“Lovely week at Scrimshaw Cottage. My wife and I - both retired - spent a really fantastic week at Scrimshaw Cottage, our first holiday since lockdown. I very much hope this review provides some useful insights into what to expect in having such a lovely time. We'd seen the photos of the cottage on the Keys site and are delighted to report that it was as gorgeous as we'd hoped from those pictures, whilst the wine and milk was an added bonus: many thanks!! We also knew from the pics that there wasn't a shower: the bath was lovely, but we felt a shower would have made the cottage idyllic for a couple.
We have already been recommending Scrimshaw to our friends!!!”

Lovely well appointed bungalow, Our first visit to North Norfolk and we enjoyed our stay here very much. We visited Sandringham & Holkham Hall, very well worth a visit to both. Also went to Creak Abbey, although not all of the shops and cafe were open. We ate out at 'The Lodge' at Old Hunstanton, had a takeaway from Erics at Thornham and ate in Erics Fish & Chip - both were discount vouchers from Norfolk Hideaways. A recommendation kto try the Rose & Crown at Harpley - order the fish & chips if you are VERY hungry! Also called at 'The Jolly Sailor' at Brancaster on our way back from Holkham Hall. Plenty to see and explore along the A149 coast road. Glad we came to Norfolk.

Fantastic stay When we arrived the accommodation was clean and tidy and was winter proofed as we stayed at the beginning of November and the weather was changing. The bed was incredibly comfy and we really enjoyed the hot tub. I think some updated information of what’s near by/local would be nice as there was only a review of a walk was dated from 2019 & the phone signal is a bit iffy to research it once you there. We only had 1 encounter with staff and that was over the phone and the instructions to find our accommodation were really clear as it was completely pitch black when we arrived! Thank you for a wonderful stay! We hope to come back soon.
