Go on a seaside adventure with Devon holiday cottages

Devon in the South West is a great choice for your next staycation, whether you're travelling with friends, family, your better half or even alone.

Home to sandy beaches, surfing, sea views, dense countryside, picturesque towns and villages, and two National Parks, there's a reason it's known as the English Riviera. Plus, there's so much to do, from visiting Dartmoor National Park and its Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty to exploring the South West Coast Path, you'll have plenty to fill your to-do list.

When it comes to Devon holiday cottages, you're in for a treat. Think beautiful holiday homes along the coast with stunning views, or cosy Devon holiday rentals in the heart of the countryside.

At Snaptrip, we'll find you a holiday cottage that ticks all the boxes in this incredible holiday destination. From places to stay with room for the whole family, to pet-friendly places surrounded by epic views and dog-friendly beaches, you're sure to find the perfect base for your Devon holiday.

Why choose a Devon weekend break or staycation?

Devon has one of the most beautiful and varied landscapes in the UK. You'll find picture-perfect beaches, tropical island-worthy sea views, pretty villages, bustling market towns, dramatic National Parks, and jaw-dropping cliffs.

If you're going on a holiday to Devon then a beach trip (or several) should be at the top of your itinerary. The harbour towns that line the coast are like something from a storybook, with sandy, cobbled stone streets, beautiful shops to explore, and plenty of delicious restaurants and cafes to tempt you. Don't forget to indulge in a classic Devon cream tea while you're visiting.

There are so many beautiful beaches to choose from, but some of our favourites include Monmouth Beach, Torre Abbey Sands, Exmouth Beach, Dawlish Beach, and Strete Gate Beach. All of which offer huge stretches of powdery-soft sand and idyllic blue waters, so pack your cossies and lots of sun cream, and enjoy days spent lazing by the coast.

Devon is also home to some of the loveliest towns you can imagine. From vibrant towns soaked in history to sweet villages immersed in spectacular countryside.

Lyme Regis is the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The sleepy and laidback atmosphere will help you unwind as you wander around the countryside, stroll along the coast, mooch around the pretty harbour, and pop into shops and cafes in the town.

If you're a fan of the classic British sitcom Fawlty Towers, why not stay in the town where the iconic hotel is based? Torquay in the heart of the English Rivera is packed with lots to see and do. The continental vibe of the town is ideal for a seaside holiday, with a lovely marina to explore, Abbey Sands Beach to chill out on, and a classic seaside promenade to spend your evenings. There are also lots of castles and historical landmarks close by, so make sure you pack your walking shoes.

Exmouth is a lively port town which boasts two miles of golden beaches on the Jurassic Coast. There are lots of fun outdoor activities to get stuck into, and plenty of shops and brilliant places to eat with fresh seafood to keep you full and happy.

If you're craving the buzz of a vibrant town, head to Exeter and explore its bustling Quayside area. Exeter has a history dating back to the Romans and there are lots of attractions to satisfy every history buff, including the incredible cathedral. The dramatic Dartmoor National Park is just a short drive away, so you can pack up the car and head off on an adventure.

With so much to see and do in this gorgeous part of the UK, you're only challenge is choosing which location your Devon holiday cottage should be in.

Thousands of Devon holiday rentals to choose from

Our range of cottages has been carefully selected to ensure they have everything you need to have a holiday you'll never forget. You'll find properties with cosy bedrooms, driveways, private gardens to take in the views, kitchens and lounges to cook and relax in, and all the home comforts you could want.

Some of our properties even have extra special features including swimming pools, hot tubs, games rooms, and awe-inspiring views. With many of our holiday homes being pet-friendly, even your furry pal can come along and join in the fun.

Whether you choose a rustic cottage in the Devonshire countryside, a contemporary cottage on the edge of the water, or a spectacular converted barn complete with a hot tub, our huge range of holiday cottages has something for everyone.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Berry - Verified booking

This property is on a working farm. We expected there to be farm noise and yet it was a haven of tranquility. All we heard was birdsong and sheep! The property is huge. Nicely kitted out with lots of extras. We had packed some items from our kitchen thinking they would not be available. However, Marie had provided loo rolls, kitchen towel, bin bags, tin foil, cling film, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, bubble bath and various other things. Cleanliness is something I always worry about with holiday rentals. However, this property was super clean. The beds were comfortable. The sofa was fantastic. The property is a 10 min drive from the A361, which is the main ‘A’ road through Devon. If your satnav suggests for you to take Gropy Lane on the way there, don’t!! It has a massive sign saying unsuitable for motor vehicles. The nearest supermarket is Sainsbury’s at South Molton. Alternatively, you can stop at Tesco in Tiverton on the way past. It’s about 25 minutes from Tiverton to the property. Little tip for the Wi-fi. If you want the smart TV functions to work, move the little internet hub from the kitchen and plug it in next to the TV! Then it all works like a charm. Overall, this property gave us a peaceful haven for a week. After working from home and not really getting a change of scenery for a long time, this property was ideal. I was super sad to be going home.

We have just spent a week at Nethercott Manor with our 4 dogs, it was very dog friendly with acres and acres to explore outside the large garden. We spotted deer as we walked on the land, the dogs loved to paddle and swim in the stream and pond area. The location is also fantastic as you are in between the Exmoor and Dartmoor national parks both in which we visited. The property was clean and hugely spacious with beautiful furnishings, fully equipped and with an AGA and log burner. we took plenty of throws and blankets to cover sofas to keep furniture clean. We and the dogs had the best time, we had the best walks and will certainly been visiting again I'm the near future. Marie the owner was very welcoming and was a pleasure to deal with. Thank you for a wonderful stay! See you again later in the year.

Superb location, very quiet area surrounded by fields. Main 'A' road about 2 miles away. Long tarmac driveway leading to property. Nethercott Manor is a lovely property, very spacious. The sitting room is very cosy with two large comfortable settees and large wood burner, french doors overlooking the garden. The kitchen is huge with an Aga and full size electric cooker, central island and large dining table with french doors overlooking the garden. Two very large bedrooms one with ensuite and both with comfortable beds. Good sized bathroom. A good sized garden, fully enclosed and dog/child friendly, plenty of garden furniture and an ideal place to sit in on a sunny day. Cattle and sheep roam the fields surrounding the garden. Good walks from the front door. Would thoroughly recommend this holiday rental.

    • Mrs N Sangwin - Verified booking

I cannot recommend this property highly enough. It is incredibly spacious (there were just two of us), and the whole property just had a wonderful cosy feel in spite of the size. It was also delightfully quirky which is to be expected from a very old property. My Labradors loved the large garden, and we were ideally placed to explore both the North and South Devon coasts – and indeed both national parks. Marie the owner could not have done more to ensure we were both safe and comfortable, and quite frankly, we did not want to leave. If you want a traditional thatched (very large) cottage to stay in, then you cannot go wrong with Nethercott Manor. I could not fault either the property or the location. I certainly hope to return in the not too distant future.

    • Miss Tomkins - Verified booking

Me and my friend stayed with her little daughter and 2 dogs, there was plenty of space, all the rooms are really big and a lovely enclosed garden. It was so peaceful surrounded by fields. There is a lovely stream that the dogs enjoyed playing in too. There was some scaffolding work going on for a couple of days which I was aware of when I booked, and we had a discounted rate for, we went out exploring the area for most of the time they were working anyway, but the owner still came round on our last evening to give us both some flowers and my friends little girl a little treat as an apology for the disruption which was really lovely. We both had a lovely time here and would definatly recommend staying here.
