    Richmond Holiday Cottages

Richmond, North Yorkshire, is often referred to as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales - and it's not hard to see why. It's situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is close to the likes of the River Swale, Easby Abbey, and Richmond Castle. Over the years, it's inspired many painters, poets and authors and hundreds of holidaymakers have found a place in their heart for the historic market town of Richmond too.

Richmond holiday cottages really are something special. Think 18th century houses, Georgian townhouses perched on the cobbled market square and grade II listed stone built properties. Of course, many of them come with family friendly amenities like open plan living areas, games rooms, large gardens, private parking and even hot tubs! In fact, the Georgian architecture of this town is just one thing that is sure to impress you as, inside, the accommodation gets even better.

At Snaptrip, we have thousands of properties so you can be sure you'll find something the whole group will love - whether travelling with friends, family or even your better half. And whether you want to base yourself in the heart of Richmond or somewhere a little quieter in Yorkshire, our friendly customer service team would be delighted to help.

    More locations in Yorkshire

Home to cities, towns, villages and two national parks, there's never a dull moment in Yorkshire. In fact, head to one of these popular locations and we guarantee the whole group will have a trip to remember.

We had a pleasant stay at the Dove Cote, I feel that this property has heaps of potential but unfortunately some aspects were not quite up to scratch.

The location of the property is excellent and we really enjoyed exploring Richmond and further into the Dales over our 3 night stay, the Farmers arms is also a must if staying here, they are super friendly and serve great food. I was surprised when we first arrived at the lack of visitors handbook or welcome pack, I’ve never stayed at a property before that doesn’t have one and feel it’s very beneficial. It would have been nice to have a written Introduction / welcome from the hosts with some basic instructions and a guide to the property (for example, there was a sign asking us to switch the hot tub off the evening before our departure but no instructions on how to do it and we couldn’t figure it out!). We had an issue with the boiler on our first night which left us without heating however when we contacted Dave the owner the next day he came over straight away and even got a plumber out to check things over for us. My main disappointment with the property was the level of cleanliness, the blinds in the kitchen were stained with some kind of sauce, some of the utensils and cutlery had dried up food on them meaning we needed to wash everything prior to use and some of the pots / pans are extremely old and could do with updating. With regards to upstairs, the bedding and bedsheets are really well used and worn out and need updating, the bed itself did have lots of hairs in when we arrived which is never very welcoming and the mattress feels ready for an update. Inside the chest of draws there was empty clothes packets that had obviously been left by prior guests but is slightly worrying that something so obvious hadn’t been picked up / noticed during change over. The toilet upstairs is very difficult to flush meaning we opted to use the downstairs toilet instead which is in a sort of linking tunnel between the holiday cottage and the owners property. The radiator in the bathroom appears to be controlled from the owners side of the building and it was turned off for our visit which made it absolutely freezing! The hot tub was lovely and relaxing and the addition of an outside tv is a lovely touch however towards the end of our visit (night 3) the water in the hot tub was starting to get murky and there was the beginnings of a strange smell emerging, I don’t think the water had been topped up with chlorine or had the chemical levels checked during our visit (perhaps investing in a slow release chlorine device would be a good idea). Overall we really did enjoy our stay and it was brilliant to explore Yorkshire, however at the price being paid I was a little let down with some of the elements. With some small alterations this place could be a little gem!

We spent a weekend at "The Stang Hideaway" in August, for a relaxing 3-night stay with my partner and our little dog.

The views were gorgeous, and the location was as peaceful as a library on a snowy day. But there were a few surprises that gave us a good laugh! First off, the wine cooler was ice-cold—unlike the fridge, which was warm enough to double as a sauna . If you’re planning to brew some coffee, don't forget to bring your own coffee pods; the same goes for dishwasher tablets as there was non available and the free washing up liquid was limited to a very small bottle (use sparingly). The "fully equipped" kitchen was a bit like a game of culinary hide-and-seek, with basic items playing hard to get. And if you’re using the breakfast bar or that “sumptuous” sofa, be prepared to get very close to your partner—like, "hope-you-really-love-each-other" close, perfect if your on a romantic break! Now, let’s talk Wi-Fi. Remember the days of dial-up internet? If you’re feeling nostalgic, you’re in luck—this Wi-Fi will take you right back to the 90s with its charmingly slow speeds which can cause the TV to frequently show the circle of death when it tries to catch up, perhaps it was intentional to create a romantic atmosphere. The outside decking is lovely, but it could use a gate to be truly dog-friendly. And don't be surprised if you step outside to find a crowd in the treehouse—it’s open to everyone on the park, so you might end up with an audience for your morning coffee or romantic sunset. All in all, it was clean and the tranquility was delightful, the stay didn’t quite match up to the price given there’s a lot of competition in the area. Here’s hoping for some improvements in the future, but hey, we still enjoyed the peace and quiet and lovely views!

What a wonderful, cozy little cottage in a beautiful location.

The village itself is very pretty with a local shop just across the road from the cottage and a lovely local pub just down the road. The cottage is clean and well maintained with almost everything you could need - the only things we found lacking were some large glasses (we like to take large glasses of water to bed with us to drink throughout the night) and an indoor shower! It was a little awkward showering in the bathtub! Other than that, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need. The bedroom is cozy with a very comfortable bed and plenty of storage. We slept incredibly well during our stay. Dave came and introduced himself to us on arrival and explained a few things before reassuring us that if we needed anything he was only next door. Other than that, we were left to our own devices. There are plenty of places to explore within a reasonable driving distance. We visited Richmond (only a few miles away) and Whitby, which was well worth the drive. Although we didn’t venture there on this visit, we have previously been to Barnard Castle, which is only a few miles away and definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been before. We came for a weekend away for a quiet, relaxing weekend to get away from the daily grind and that’s exactly what we got! The hot tub is great, especially with the outdoor TV to watch whilst chilling out.

The property is beautiful and very clean!

!! The bathroom is gorgeous and the bathtub is a key feature. I loved having the bathroom door open to the outside overlooking the wheat field while soaking in the tub. Bed was very comfortable. Only a couple of things that need a little work. The owners would benefit from staying, cooking and cleaning there for a few days as there are some essentials missing such as dishcloths, dish rack to dry dishes, dish washer tablets and we may have needed more than one roll of loo roll. It didn’t hinder our stay too much, but it lost a bit of that luxury feel someone has worked hard to make. The other thing is, the photos are a little deceptive and don’t show you are attached to a caravan park at the back. It’s still secluded and very quite but attached to a caravan park that appears to hold people’s mobile caravans. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend but would encourage the owners to look at little essentials.

We have just stayed in Dove Core for a week, the cottage is spacious comfortable and clean.

The hot tub and the tv outside is luxurious and something we made use of after a long day exploring. The cottage is in a friendly village with a shop and pub within in walking distance. The cottage is well positioned to explore the Yorkshire Sales staring with the town of Richmond. The village has wonderful walks beside the river which our dog loved, the garden is enclosed and safe for the dog which was reassuring. The owners are friendly and helpful when needed . Overall a very love!y cottage we would recommend. One note currently there is building work next door, the builder is very aware turning off his music off, it wasn't a problem for us but some people might not appreciate it.
