**Review of Ty Coed Cottage, Beaumaris, Anglesey** Ty Coed is a charming and warm cottage, ideally located for exploring the beautiful island of Anglesey and within walking distance of Beaumaris.

Its quaint and old-world appeal sets the tone for a relaxing getaway, and the convenient location is perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the local scenery and attractions. However, despite its charm, Ty Coed was unfortunately let down by several issues that need addressing. The most noticeable was the poor cleaning standards: there was mould on the windows and shower, and the towels were stained, yellowed and marked, which made them feel unclean and in need of replacement. The bedding was stored in plastic bags in a mould filled cupboard or under the bed, the cutlery drawers in the kitchen could do with a deep clean, and so on. Additionally, we were greeted with rotting flowers in a vase on the windowsill with stagnant, smelly water—a rather unpleasant first impression. The shower door was stiff and difficult to close, making showering a cumbersome task. We also encountered a more serious safety issue with sharp carpet tacks protruding from the carpet; both my son and I stepped on them, resulting in unpleasant shocks. The guest book provided in the cottage felt outdated and hadn’t been updated in quite some time. It included inaccurate information, such as the promise of complimentary Nespresso capsules, which were not provided, and incorrect instructions for filling the outdoor bins. These discrepancies added to the overall sense that the property is not being maintained to the standard one would expect. Finally, the description of Ty Coed mentioned the opportunity to “sit outside and watch the world go by,” which was a key selling point for us. However, this was misleading, as the outdoor space is entirely occupied by bins, leaving no area for sitting or enjoying the outdoors. While Ty Coed has the potential to be a lovely holiday retreat, these issues significantly detracted from our stay. With improved cleanliness, maintenance, and more accurate descriptions, this cottage could truly live up to its potential. For now, though, it falls short of the charming escape it promises to be.

We always have a great time on Anglesey.

Sykes properties are of a high standard and usually very clean (the last two were spotlessly clean), but whilst we enjoyed our latest stay Ty Coed wasn't up to the cleanliness standards we have experienced before. Best if we explain. The PROS: beds were very clean, the kitchen was clean, (apart from green mould growing on a chopping board inside a cupboard), the owner didn't check before we moved in; can't have done, she was there when we arrived! The bathrooms were clean. But, the living room definitely smells of dog/dogs. We hate covers on furniture and the carpet in there smells of dogs. There was thick dust on all the stair bannisters, lots of cobwebs on the ceiling beams, over the fire, some with dead insects hanging in them. The exterior window sills at both front and back were dirty. The tiny backyard is filthy, (covered in fallen detritus) with a dog bowl full of green water, broken sticks, lots of cobwebs full of insects, some mud and dirt and the windowsills were totally covered with dirt and tree debris. The wicker draws in the bedroom, once pulled out revealed, uh, grime dirt and thick black dust. The front door sticks very badly and my wife could not lock or open it. In fact, it needs a UVPc guy out to service it! Having had this problem ourselves, at home I know that this will eventually catch guests out when the shot bolts go. The handle is so stiff its hard to open and lock, very hard. The bedroom door catches on a ceiling beam and needs a few millimetres plaining off it. Going toilet in the night could be tricky for someone with a disability (the front door definitely would be an issue). It gives us no pleasure to mention all this, but at £830 for the week we expected much, much better! The dirt and other issues mentioned looked to have been there for weeks, some months, not days, so it does need a proper deep clean in the aforementioned areas. Rest assured we won't stay at Ty Coed again! And have several pictures of all these dirty areas as well!

We arrived at 1 Ty Glas on friday 26th July.

Having stayed at The Stables the previous year we were excited to return and expected the same standards. Unfortunately that was not the case. Upon arrival it was clear that the house was not clean. The level of dust and cobwebs and dirt under furniture was disappointing. Not wanting to affect our family holiday we located the hoover and improved the standard of our holiday house. Throughout the holiday items out of cupboards were equally dirty. However, what we found several days later was far worse and did lead to us looking for alternative accommodation, however at this time of year that was not possible. As a result we all slept in one room, the room that seemed cleaner. My daughter dropped an item of jewellery on the floor which rolled under the bed. What we found under there was unacceptable and made me feel physically sick. We are appalled that our children had spent any time in that room at all. Thick dust and hair and general dirt several centimetres high. We hoovered around the sides of the bed and under as far as we could reach etc but did not want to spend our holiday cleaning other peoples dirt. I’m sure if you move the bed and look underneath (to the part we couldn’t access) in the bedroom to the right at the top of the stairs you will see exactly what we mean. However I photos u can provide. It was disgusting. We are truly thankful for the weather we had as it has meant we have had minimal time in our house. The previous year we enjoyed sitting in our house and playing family board games /cards. This year we have spent all out time out of the house. I might add that the furniture outside this property is significantly weathered compared to the rest of the courtyard. Not something we would have mentioned had everything else been satisfactory. This is not a moan about a little dust but a complaint about a generally dirty house and a fifthy bedroom that is a health hazard. I look forward to a prompt response

DO NOT BOOK this property at any cost, if there was an option to give zero stars I would.

Firstly couldn’t find the accommodation and we were driving around for ages until rang the owner who directed us. The address on the Sykes website is totally wrong along with pictures of the property which on arrival is absolutely nothing like the glossy ones shown. From the pictures we were expecting a lovely bungalow on a cul de sac with long drive and nice outside space to sit and safety for our little dog, how wrong we were!!. Once found the property is actually a tiny annexe pushed in a corner behind another bungalow. Outside, the decking area is tiny and nothing like shown, to get to key safe on one side its over grown and my son got stung!!, the other side is rubble and glass unfit for my dog. Upon opening door the smell of damp and diirt hit you, what a dump, no cleaning done, all beds filthy, bathroom too and crumbs and dirt everywhere,I wouldn’t put my dog in it!!, no way were we staying in such a dump!!. The size of the property is no more than a large garden shed!!, six people I don’t think so!!. I rang the owner direct who apologised and promised full refund, what a lie!!. As we arrived late on had to sit in car and find further last minute dog friendly accomplished which we could only find in Llandudno at a further cost of £450 plus more fuel as another 50 mile journey. Ive been in contact with owner who has been pretty good until today who promised me full refund but on paid me 2/3 rds as that what Sykes give him back and apparently I’ve now got to pursue Sykes for the rest of it which he says are admin costs which I only paid £20 for. I’ve rang Sykes 3 times previous and been promised a call back each time but nothing!!, can no longer call now apparently everything has to be done via your booking log in which I have done but all done is acknowledge and nothing else. They were quick to take my payments which I paid promptly on request but not quick to refund. Annoyed and disgusted!! Xxx

Guest book - previous guests kept referring to excellent "Welcome Pack", presumably from a previous owner of the cottage.

Our only Welcome Pack was the starter pack of logs for the fire. General appearance and condition of the cottage was pleasing although closer inspection revealed cracked ceiling in the kitchen (a piece of the ceiling fell onto my partner's head!), wallpaper coming off the wall in a few places, tired sealant in the bathroom and shower, heavy dust on the lamp in living room. No shaver socket, which is unusual nowadays. No cupboard storage for food. The bags for dirty laundry mentioned in the Visitors Guide were not present. Never got the hang of the woodburner and because of no instruction, it was a struggle to burn the thicker logs. All the appliances worked well and the furniture and beds were comfortable. The shower worked well. TV and WiFi work perfectly. Kitchen was bright, clean and modern. Carpets were in excellent and clean condition - so there is PLENTY of good news! It was noted that the property was up for sale which possibly explains some of the flaws. Sorry if it sounds like nitpicking but a little more attention to detail would go a long way. Nevertheless a troublefree stay.
