      The shepherd's hut is very nicely furnished - a beautiful place to stay. It's surprising how much fits inside the hut: a spacious bed, a little kitchen, space to set up a table and two chairs to eat indoors, and a separate bathroom. The bed was really comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, we didn't lack for anything - lots of thought has gone into furnishing and equipping the hut. The owner was also really responsive and helpful - thank you. Outside, we enjoyed the wonderful location, including the view of the sea across the open fields and the wildlife (all of which you can enjoy from the hut as it has a stable door). We enjoyed the hot tub, the outdoor seating and the barbecue. It was a lovely, rural retreat. We enjoyed spending time closer to nature and the great outdoors, but with all the comforts and amenities that made it a special stay.

      Great little place to stay for the night. Just my wife and me, we just needed a night away from everything, we didn't even bring or dogs and this hit the spot. Situated at the bottom of a field with open views it was a great place to unwind. We took a walk into wells along the costal path came back, lit the fire for the hot tub cooked steak and sat outside til the hot tub was ready. We were very lucky with the weather so didn't need to try any heating but it seemed to have everything covered with underfloor heating electric blanket and gas heater. The shower was great, plenty of time to wash etc, just don't waste time and its more than good enough. Would definitely like to return, my kind of place very peaceful even managed to watch some deer in the next field.

I think for the size of the hot tub, the location and the endless supply of logs it’s well worth the money. Check-in easy without any issues, I didn’t mind the times as planned my days around it so didn’t affect my trip in any way. The hut acts as a perfect base for exploring all that Norfolk has to offer. Can’t recommend it enough and I hope to be back soon!

      Palmers Lodge: 17-22/4/25. The lodge is located on the east drive of Holkham estate. A lovely private setting, surrounded by woodland. The lodge is comfortable and warm. There was an issue with the shower thermostat on our visit, over an Easter weekend. An emergency plumber was unable to rectify on call-out. So unfortunately the shower was effectively unusable during our 5 day stay. The lodge is well equipped, though could benefit from more crockery in the kitchen area and an armchair for extra comfort. Of note is a steep spiral stairs to the bedroom area, which could be difficult to navigate for some. Included in the price was free Parking and discounts at Holkham outlets in the area.
