What our customers say about their holidays

    • Basharat - Verified booking

We were a group of 6 people consisting of 3 generations.

The tastefully decorated downstairs en-suite bedroom met our elderly grandparent with approval. There was ample space on the ground floor with a cosy and comfortable sitting room with tv to the front and a lovely and large open plan fully-equipped kitchen, 6-seater dining table and a corner sofa and tv to the back. The small rear garden was fully tiled with a bench and large patio set for outdoor dining. Its rather compact size though, disappointed the kids immensely, as they had planned to spend much time playing outdoors; our own garden being at least 3 x larger. Nevertheless we made the best out of it and a good time was had by all regardless. The field of sheep next door was an added bonus and lovely surprise for us all. The upstairs en-suite master bedroom was similar to the downstairs one but rather drab in terms of decor; curtains reminded me of grandad's slippers! The beautiful views however helped in overlooking this point. The double room was very disappointing. It was tight and dark, having no storage units whatsoever, with the exception of some wall hooks and a small sidetable. It certainly was not ideal or comfortable for two people having to live out of a suitcase for 5 days. This bedroom could do well with a wardrobe or chest of drawers in the very least: without the need for a fancy chair either. The single bedroom was very basic too although a chest of drawers and some hooks for storage was included here. It would have been useful to have some hooks put in the bathrooms too. We booked this property due to it's high ratings but sadly it fell short on a few points. The most unacceptable point for us was the level of cleanliness. The property was full of cobwebs and spiders; under all the kitchen cabinets, in ceiling corners etc. We even spotted a very large and menacing spider in the back room which had the girls screaming their hearts out. Unfortunately we could not find it so hope no-one else gets to encounter it. The dirt in the sliding door runners still remains there and no effort to clean the outside furniture had been made as it was also ridden with cobwebs. Another unacceptable point was that when we arrived at the property, the cleaner was still busy cleaning and did not leave til almost 7pm when check-in was supposedly 5pm! We also had a man stride onto the property one evening, without any notice whatsoever, who then subsequently pulled out the rubbish bin from the back garden to then take it to the front. We assume this had been agreed by the owners, however it shocked us and encroached on our privacy. The owners have still not added any games or books to pass time with on those dull and wet evenings nor are there any dvds or a dvd player all of which we would expect as basic necessities. Compared to other properties we have stayed in, this property did not offer the high standard you would expect from paying the amount we did

At first glance, this is a cute flat in a stunning location and you can walk from the property up the hill to get incredible views of the surrounding area.

We managed to park our mini on the drive but it would be tricky for larger vehicles; more of an issue was the lack of outside lighting of any kind. We had hot water and found the bed comfortable but the aspect that marred the stay was the wetness and condensation in the property, such that we had the windows open constantly, despite the freezing temperatures. The extraction in the bathroom wasn't effective though it was the bedroom and area near the front door where it affected our comfort most: on picking up our coats to go out, we found them to be wet from the walls near the door and you could feel a little chill in the living room, near to the front door (perhaps a heavy curtain or divide there might help). It is an old property that needs better insulation or perhaps used in the drier and warmer months only. The property is small but could be cosy for a couple and I utilised the small table and chair (in the boot room) for work purposes. Wifi worked well for my purposes but there wasn't a good mobile signal to be had by either of us so perhaps an email address for communication would be good. Aside from the lack of lighting outside, non-slip mats and rugs would also prevent accidents. Might I also suggest having blankets for the bed, larger towels and spare supplies, such as light bulbs, toilet roll, etc. in the boot room. There wasn't any kindling or matches for the log burner. Grateful for the pint of milk and appreciate the gesture of the muffins though, sadly, I can't eat such things! There is a very small Morrisons on the main road (easily walkable) but guests would need to bring their cooking ingredients or purchase in the bigger stores in Malvern. While I'm not sure I can recommend for a winter stay, I imagine the experience would be more comfortable in the summer months. Best wishes.

      First off, the parking.

Yes, there is off road parking, but BOY is it tight. A few handy hints on how to approach the parking would have been helpful. Especially for those who may be arriving in the dark. Other grumbles would include the toilet brush had “debris” in it. There was a smell in the bedroom next to one of the bedside tables. The base of the bedside lamp was wet. There was also a damp patch on the carpet underneath the bedside table along with a cupcake cup. The TV remote was damaged and possibly needed new batteries. When we opened the complimentary dog biscuits a fly came out of the jar. Needless to say, the biscuits went in the bin. The wood burner looked very tempting, but there were no matches or kindling left to start it up. To the good. When you book Kitts Cottage you are in the Malvern Hils and it is beautiful and right at the heart of all you would want access to on a trip to The Malvern Hills. The cottage is ideal for one or two people to stay. There’s a very well equipped galley kitchen with breakfast bar. Great for a quick breakfast. Not so good for an evening meal. This may be a deal breaker for some. We didn’t mind so much. Bathroom was small, well laid out and the water pressure on the shower was very good. Lounge has a very comfy sofa, wood burner and TV. Ideal for relaxing in after a long day walking. There is enough storage, if a bit scattered about. The boot room would be very useful if a visit co-insides with a wet and muddy visit. A good place to clean dogs up and change to dry shoes before entering the cottage. We greatly enjoyed our stay despite the few shadows lurking in the corners.

      Lovely property.

Comfy beds. Comfy seating. Well equipped. Very warm. Excellent parking. Great location for popular Cotswolds villages. Bedrooms good sizes but lacking in chest of drawers/dressing table in downstairs bedroom. I had to make my own dressing table with nest of tables from lounge and a chair from the dining room. The bedroom is more than big enough to accommodate one where the large wall mirror is. Previous reviewers several months ago highlighted no scissors or smaller tumblers. There are still only wine and pint glasses available and no scissors! Curtains in bedroom very light in colour and material and with two windows light coming in would be an issue once the lighter mornings arrive. The property is set back from the road but road noise is still heard, opening windows on warm nights would be an issue. Although it isn't a very busy road it is busy enough to hear vehicles passing every few minutes once it is 6am onwards. Despite the above comments it wouldn't stop me from staying again as it is a lovely well maintained property.

Described as having parking, the gate which was the parking next to the house we were advised to use always had other people parked in front of it and the area had little parking and we had to park 200 metres away. The house was dirty, the floors were very slippy and greasy and my pregnant daughter slipped going to the bathroom. There were dirty toenail clippings on my bedroom floor and many of the kitchen items had been put away dirty and had to be washed before use. The oven was dirty and smelt when switched on. The sheet did not fit the bed properly and only one toilet roll had been provided for a three night stay for three people. I was also required to pay a large returnable deposit in advance or a £25 deposit waiver fee that was not listed on air BnB. The house WAS in a great location for town etc and would have been nice if it had been really clean. We didn’t mind the noise and occasional smell from lea and perrins factory next door however I think the listing should reflect it.
