What our customers say about their holidays

    • Natalie - Verified booking

Our stay in Shire’s End was an absolute joy, it is a beautifully appointed and furnished Hobbit Hole and we were loath to leave!

We had a virtually fully self-catered 7 days and, while quite small as it needed to be, the fridge and freezer were ample and anything we didn’t have we could just pop to Tesco, Sainsbury’s or Morrison’s for - which was super convenient. The location itself is gorgeous and the views incredible. There is so much to see around the area and nearby. Being on the borders of Wales, too, meant visits there as well were straightforward and incredibly scenic! One wish that we’d have is that the mattress be a bit more comfy and the frame itself a bit less creaky - otherwise, we slept well and just cannot knock this incredible place. Our hosts were lovely, left us to it but were also there if we needed them - they left us some hobbit cakes on our welcome, together with some garlic grown last year. Both were utterly delicious!! Just remember to say if you’ve any intolerances/allergies as I’d not even thought to before we left. Finally, watching the extended (of course!!) LOTR trilogy from the imagined purview of a hobbit was an awesome experience!! Stay and have a wonderful time. We hope to return in the near future, too!

What an incredible stay in the perfect hobit hole !

Ample room and well equipped for all your needs. great use of the space, Lots of room considering its a hobbit hole, my 6ft4 boyfriend had plenty space no need to duck or squeeze in. Everything was really clean and tidy with a super comfy and beautiful bed we were so sad to leave behind. Some delicious treats to welcome us including home grown garlic, fresh oj and milk, home made bilbos seed cake everything was delicious! Hosts Peter and Karen went above and beyond for us on multiple occasions we can't thank them enough, Truly amazing kind and friendly people! We Loved our wooly neighbours too and our visits from kitty. Could not think of a better place to propose to my boyfriend for the leap year, i should say my now fiancé! The attention to detail was brilliant so many clever ways to incorporate both the hobbit and lord of the rings in a tasteful way. We cannot wait to come back next year, already planned our next stay ! Thank you for an amazing experience ❤️

You can tell the owners have put a lot of love and effort into making the place feel high standard. No cheap furniture, everything was high quality and it showed and was appreciated. Bed was super comfy and the bedding was lovely. Roll top bath was a joy to relax into. We received a lovely warm welcome and everything felt personalised down to providing us with a personal list of things we might enjoy based on our conversation we had about what we like to do. Received fresh flowers and wine on arrival and thank you for the special touch at the Angel for our celebrations. And a great meal choice too! We stayed 3 nights here, everything felt peaceful and away from it all. And I think they have been really creative with how they’ve designed the property. I would recommend to others. Thank you Anya. You made it a lovely stay.

Beautiful property in a stunning location.

If you want peace, quiet and tranquility this is the place for you. We wanted for nothing, everything was thought of from the fresh farm eggs and Welsh cakes in the welcome pack, to the pint of milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, sugar and all the cleaning products you would ever need. They missed nothing, even a welcome pack for the dog! The property is clean and fresh, very comfy bed, sofa not so much. The small enclosed garden is lovely, although the wall is lower in some places than others, take care if you have an escape artist! We had a lovely week just relaxing and recharging those batteries, hot tub helped here too! There are things to see and do in the area just be mindful to relax and take time and care on the narrow roads. Well worth a visit, the surrounding countryside is stunning and quiet. We loved it.

      Shires End is wonderful!

Karen and Pete provided everything that we needed for lovely stay including welcome gifts including home made cake, cookies, crisps and pear cider. I messaged in advance if they would kindly decorate for husband's 60th if I sent decorations. They did a fantastic job and even left a birthday card for him. The kitchen area is very nice and contains everything that we would have at home except we don't have a coffee pod machine,a nice touch. The bathroom was clean with plenty of towels and toiletries. The bedroom is prefect! The bed was lovely and snuggly. The way it's been decorated is great. Also the WiFi is good and has it has a smart TV. Outside, there were 2 seating areas and a lovely little garden with a barbecue fire pit if needed. Our neighbours were the sheep
