What our customers say about their holidays

    • George - Verified booking

It was a lovely property, very comfortable and inviting.

The facilities were great and had everything we could have needed, didn’t end up using half of the utility things we brought like cloths and cleaning sprays. The oven could have done with a clean as whoever used it last had some overspill that was baked to the bottom and burnt when we used it causing a lot of smoke, had to cook with the extractor on full and doors and windows open. Also the oven didn’t cook things fast and could do with a new one. The extra game facilities were very fun and well equipped, we would have liked some outdoor lighting as we visited during the winter months and getting to the other buildings we had to use torches to avoid tripping on the cobbles and manoeuvering cars in that dark was extremely difficult. Our main concern with this property would be the roads on approach as they were single lane and not in great condition, we took to going very slowly as some of the bumps and pot holes were causing our cars to bottom out if we were not careful and on the way back we did have a car die and are not sure if the brutal roads contributed to that however there issues were not the fault of the house just a little warning to others. In summary though we had a wonderful time and would consider visiting again.

The attention to detail in this holiday cottage was second to none.

It would serve as an excellent template for others to follow in providing the little comforts that make a cottage feel like home so quickly. For example: milk and eggs on arrival, tea bags, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, washing-up liquid, kitchen roll, hand soap, even moisturiser! We often don't know whether to take such things with us and it can be pot luck whether a cottage has them or not. But here it went even further - cling film and foil perfect for packed lunches, a mini pair of binoculars, a Bodum coffee maker, candles, a torch - there was nothing missing that we might have needed, and though only for two people there was enough cutlery and crockery not to have to wash up with each use, and utensils galore in the kitchen. Combined with the charming beams, oak furniture and co-ordinating soft furnishings, we felt quite spoiled! The secluded location made for a peaceful time and the surrounding countryside was a delight to explore, albeit initially by some very narrow, twisty lanes! Full marks to the friendly and helpful owner for making it such a lovely holiday cottage and still allowing pets.

The Old Workshop is a lovely little cottage, finished and furnished to a very high standard with everthing provided to make your stay comfortable.

Adjoining the owners home, it has its own private entrance and secluded patio area overlooking a lovely garden with views of the fields and hills beyond. It is so peaceful and we heard probably no more than half a dozen cars passing over the first couple of days we were there. We spent most of those first few days just sitting in the garden or walking locally and enjoying the beautiful weather. The owners were away, but kept in touch with us to make sure everything was as it should be and left a welcome gift of biscuits and fresh eggs from their hens (as we returned the key at the end of our stay we were amused to see a hen sitting on its eggs in a basket by the front door). Tea, coffee and milk were also provided which is always really appreciated after a journey. The Workshop is a few miles from the main road and accessed by narrow country lanes - we really felt we had 'got away' from it all. There is lots to do in the area, from hill walking to visiting local towns and villages. Some great pub lunches and cream teas available! We had a great week away would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

We have just returned from a brilliant family holiday at Turnip House.

The cottage itself was lovely and spacious, but also very cosy and comfortable; we loved the combination of the traditional features together with all mod cons. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and the homemade cakes and fresh flowers were a lovely touch. It was an ideal base for a family holiday, as the children had so much do on the farm itself; they were very excited to feed the pigs and collect eggs from the chickens; they played on the go carts and sandpit and loved all the space to run around. There's loads of land to explore, including a lovely 2 mile circular walk with waterside picnic area and lovely views. The owner Sara was really helpful in suggesting local things to do and on hand to deal with any requests. We had a couple of sessions at the swimming pool, which was stunning, and Sara even organised a local therapist to do hot stone massages for my husband and I in the spa area which was out of this world! We really couldn't fault the place and would love to go back again. Thanks Sara for making our stay so lovely

The Old Workshop was exactly what I was expecting from the excellent photos I had seen on the website.

The place was perfect for a much needed break. We took our dog Teddy with us and I walked him on the wooded bridleway, which was just up the lane, every morning, while my husband stayed in bed.The four day stay was for him to chill out and destress after working incredibly hard recently and for me to do some walking. After breakfast we went sightseeing, there are so many places to visit in this area, we loved Ludlow and Shrewsbury we visited Ironbridge too. The countryside was gorgeous especially in the autumn colours. The cottage is beautifully decorated and so lovely to stay in. I loved the colour scheme throughout and all the lovely little touches. You have everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable. We loved the log burner in the evening and just chilled out with a glass of wine and watched movies. So relaxing after a day sightseeing. We would definitely recommend The Old Workshop we loved our stay in it and the beautiful location. Very peaceful and quiet
