"This was such a good week! The weather forecast had been so full of doom and gloom-indeed it was very cold every night with ground frost most mornings-but the sun shone every day and we were able to walk from the door as we'd hoped to do. The network of footpaths close by is extensive in every direction and what wonderful countryside it is! The cottage, being detached and elevated, is just ideal. We loved the spacious living room, finding the chairs comfy and felt very much at home. The beds were fine, the temperature plummeted overnight so we did leave the ticking-over. No doubt when the trees are in full leaf there would be less light in the living room, but we found it very homely and comfortable, especially when the log fire was burning. The TV worked, kitchen equipment no problem-except the fridge hadn't been de-frosted for many a month and that was a job I had to do on arrival."

"A lovely house, right in the center of Ludlow, just a short stroll from the Castle and within the historic old quarter with all its beautiful old houses. The decor and furnishings are sympathetic with the house and there are lots of detailed touches. Everything you might need appears to have been thought of and provided.Good wi-fi and there is a cupboard full of DVDs to watch. We were lucky and were able to park in Ravens Lane every day, although this is a narrow road so the drive out is a tight squeeze. If you aren't so lucky, then the pay and display parking is really cheap. The stairs to the top floor (the house is on 3 floors) are very steep, so may not suite everyone. Plenty of towels provided along with bed linen. Utilities are free (no meters here). This is a lovely house in an enchanting town and would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone."

"Stayed at this cottage for a few days in February/March to get away from the daily house/work/house routine and it was just great, you don’t’ even have mobile reception – added bonus. We were greeted by the owner, who presented us with milk and eggs in the fridge (they were a lifesaver), and were immediately left to our own devices since he told us that we could walk pretty much everywhere. The cottage location, at the end of a narrow lane and a dirt road could not have been better. Being surrounded by forest, river and sheep is one of the most tranquil settings you’ll ever find, with plenty of good local walk routes. Inside, it has a very “home” like felling, with spacious rooms, bathroom and mezzanine with Velux windows, feather duvet, all the crockery and cutlery utensils that you’ll need for self-catering with the wood burning stove adding a special touch."

"Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting a clean, well equipped property in a great location. Thoughtful little touches made our stay a perfect one. So spacious too so if you are a family of 7 you do not get on top of each other which is very important! Beautiful rooms, beautiful view, lovely garden space. I drink prosecco and they actually had the glasses... I was a very happy woman! The world of self catering would be a much better place if other owners took a lesson or two from Yarnchester Barns. The little town of Much Wenlock is really pretty and interesting and has pubs and cafes, obviously all the ironbridge attractions on the doorstep, we went into Ludlow which is about half an hour hour and is beautiful. Loads of National Trust places, towns etc, etc so much to do and see within 10-20 mins. Thank you for a great break."

"We have rented Greyling Cottage in Raven Lane, Ludlow for four years now. It is perfectly located for the Mefieval Christmas Fayre where we have a pitch every year. I make authentic historic costumes so the event is a very good outlet for us. The cottage is on three floors with excellent accommodation on each floor. My daughter & her partner join us there & likewise my granddaughters. They model my gowns. Greyling Cottage is just a 5 min walk from the castle, right I'm the centre of the picturesque ancient town of Ludlow. The Castle was once part of the defences all along the Welsh/English border , known as The Marches. Ludlow has some lovely architecture, attractive shops, welcoming pubs serving real ales & good value food. The town is an experience in itself . "
