What our customers say about their holidays

    • Zuchada - Verified booking

A modern, spacious property with stunning sea views!

The location is fantastic, with many great places to visit within a 15-45 minute drive. I stayed here with a group of friends last week, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room for all of us – five adults and a pup. The property was spotless, and the bedrooms were beautifully decorated to a high standard. Each room had a large TV & the most comfortable bed, although we spent most of our time in the main lounge socialising and relaxing in front of the fire. I stayed in the master bedroom, and I loved watching the sunsets from there every evening—it was quite special. The kitchen is well equipped, though I personally prefer induction hobs over gas (I’m a bit useless with gas hobs, and to me, induction glass hobs are much easier to clean). That said, the gas hobs provided were excellent quality, so there’s no issue, just a personal preference. I also loved the fact that the property is all on one level with a thoughtful layout. As I’m currently recovering from a broken leg, this was incredibly helpful. The garden was well-maintained, though not enclosed (as described on Sykes). This wasn’t an issue for us, as our dog is well-trained and well-behaved. The Shark vacuum cleaner was a nice touch too, especially as I’m a bit of a clean freak! We had a couple of minor issues during our stay, but Charlotte and Paul were fab— One issue was resolved very swiftly and they kept us updated throughout. They even came to the property to apologise in person, which they didn’t need to at all but very much appreciated. The other issue was that the main door (lock) to the decking was broken by the guests who stayed the week before us. However, we didn't let that bother us, as the weather in November was quite cold and damp anyway, so we didn’t spend much time outside. The water pressure at the property is amazing—probably the best in the country, resulting in an incredible shower experience everyday! Overall, I’d happily rate this property 10 out of 10. As mentioned, the faulty door lock didn’t bother us, and the other issue was resolved quickly, so it didn’t cause any inconvenience. We would definitely consider staying here again if we return to the area :)

Atlantic View exceeded expectations in all areas.

It looks impressive on the computer screen and does not disappoint. We hired this to enable our entire small family to be together for a long weekend. The cleanliness and quality of fixtures & fittings throughout are exceptional. We planned our self-catering meals with a different family member responsible for each main meal. Some of us packed a few of our favourite cooking pots and utensils. We needn't have bothered as everything is provided. We also appreciated the little touches and attention to detail in this property, We had booked one dog in our party but he did not come in the end and stayed with someone else. However, the owners had gone to the trouble of providing water bowls and dog treats. Thank you to Sykes for this listing and to the owners for providing a wow experience for all of us.

The cottage was really lovely, in a great area, really cosy and it felt very homely to us. The terrace, although it only had a slight view of the sea, was lovely to sit at in the morning and was a real sun trap. The bedroom was cosy, and the kitchen was relatively well equipped. The showers were very small, but in such a small place it is the best available option. Unfortunately, despite general cleanliness, there were heaps of dog hairs around the whole cottage, especially in the bedroom. Although this was a slight annoyance to us, it would be far from ideal for somebody with an allergy. The cottage was very close to the harbour, with a maximum 5 minute walk to the furthest pub. Overall, we had a really lovely stay, and we would definitely return.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Atlantic View.

This was our first family holiday with our children and grandchildren and i don’t think it could have been any better. The house was perfect for us and even more impressive than described. Every room was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean with lovely homely touches everywhere and everything you could possible need, want or think of to make a holiday extra special. From the moment we arrived Charlotte, Paul and Sue went above and beyond to ensure our holiday was perfect. Even when an unexpected issue arose in the week that they could never have predicted, they were on hand immediately and did everything in their power to rectify it so swiftly. Thankyou so much to you all, we definitely hope to return.

Smugglers Cottage is a fab comfortable little cottage, ideal for two people, very peaceful location but within easy walking distance of various places to eat out, and seconds from the beach. We would definitely stay there again, we also loved that we could take our dog. The service provided by Above Beach Cottages was excellent; booking the cottage on line was very easy and hassle free and the information provided was spot on, we will certainly use them again. Porthleven has a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants and several are dog friendly which is a bonus. It's also on the coastal path and is ideal for walkers. We had a fab time even though the weather wasn't too kind to us!
