What our customers say about their holidays

    • Roderick - Verified booking

Overall a Lovely situation and very peaceful place to stay.

Ignore the satnav as this takes you down a tiny road that is playing Russian Roulette with any traffic. Use the directions as given by the site. Beach and coastal path was unspoilt. Good stopping off point to take day visits to local towns and shopping. Internet has a good speed and unsecured. Dogs need to be kept on a lead outside of the house. Beds soft and warm. This is a working farm. Was 4 star 16 years ago and now shows signs of being rather tired. Washing lines available and adjoining garden. Power shower needs to be left to run before adjusting as it takes time to warm up and then gets hotter (fine for anyone with patience and understanding of fluid heat transfer in a powershower). Plenty of Towels provided. TV, Fridge and small freezer provided. shortcomings: Washing up machine still had chicken and olives in the bottom of the machine from previous users - no tablets provided (I had to clean the filter and previous users not used tablets so plates etc not properly clean! - we brought our own tablets and cleaning kit.). Bathroom taps need update or maintenance as cold tap needs to be carefully turned off or it will be left running by children. Mould in shower cubicle and bathroom outside wall needs attention. Hot water takes time to arrive at kitchen sink but very hot on arrival. Hot chocolate powder provided was three years out of B.B. date! Sugar bowl was left empty except for encrusted with tea hardened sugar crystals. Sofas and seats need to be replaced as they are all with collapsed seating needing cushions but fine if you can play about with said cushions and you don't have back issues. summary: We loved it because for us it is you could expect with less spiders for this part of the world in an old farm house conversion and in this price bracket and was better than others we have stayed at. Large master bedroom with bunk beds next door. Need a good condition car to drive up the hills, or 4x4.

(This is taken from the review prepared for HomeAway.

Co.uk) The cottage was much more attractive than the photo suggests, being set in a courtyard (with other cottages) with views down the valley to the rear and across the courtyard to a field at the front. We particularly appreciated our welcome, the starter pack of coffee/tea/sugar etc and the vase of tulips which lasted all week! We were also pleasantly surprised that all heating was included in the price. The twin bedroom and lounge were of a good size; the double bedroom smaller but perfectly adequate and all were attractively decorated. There was reasonable storage space for holiday use and the washing facilities next door would be particularly useful for a family. The kitchen and bathroom were modern and well-appointed. There was a little table for sitting out immediately outside the front door, and family tables/benches in the field nearby. It is a little off the beaten track, although we soon got used to that. Otherwise it was well-situated for exploring Pembrokeshire being close to the A40 and the A487. Parking was a little tight - especially since we all appeared to have large cars! Wifi is currently being installed but we received a 4G signal which was fine in the meantime. We were two elderly relatives and the weather was excellent: a family in a week of bad weather might find it a little more restrictive. However, we had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to go back or to recommend it.

Minafon is comfortable, cosy spotlessly clean and well equipped.

It is perfectly situated to explore the local area of outstanding natural beauty, with plenty of easy access walks to the nearby coast path, beach ‘s and golf course. The town and pubs/ eateries being a short walk up the hill..But beware the speeding milk tankers down the little lane! Jo, the owner, met us and made us feel welcome. The yummy cake, and stocked beer/wine fridge was a lovely addition and most welcome after a long journey. There were plenty of fresh clean bath towels and a thoughtful basket of dog and beach towels. The showers are particularly good with plenty of hot water… however the en-suite shower cubicle is quite small, the downstairs shower is spacious enough with lots of room to manoeuvre. The beds are comfy with good quality bedding and a choice of pillows, all smelling clean and fresh. The view from the main bedroom giving lovely views of the estuary. The garden is pretty and dog friendly, providing a space to eat outside or just sit with a cuppa and a book. I think the only thing we missed was a long mirror and a radio/speaker in the kitchen and a bbq.. (Although costly to install, a wood burner in the lounge would make a cosy place to cwtch and snuggle down in winter). We enjoyed our stay even if the weather wasn’t the best..The house made up for it and the young adults in our party had no complaints about the WiFi! We will return .. Thank you so much.

Had such a fabulous time staying here.

Cheryl was brilliant, advising on interesting places to visit. The cottage was amazing, The Woodburner made the cottage very cosy. I could not fault this place. watching the birds on the feeder early morning - astounded to see a woodpecker every morning amongst the other visiting birds. Cheryl and her husband were amazing and friendly without being overbearing. Fraggle - the Deerhound such a beautiful animal and so placid. The welcome back was greatly received after a sever hour drive. Teddy, Ava and Peggy also enjoyed their treats. Although, the weather was cold and sometimes raining, we still managed to walk 8 to 12 miles a day. Duck cottage is lovely homely and welcoming place to stay. I will most definitely be visiting again. Ps Teddy is fine - needs a special diet. Lost a lot of weight due to infection.

      This cottage is wonderful!

It has everything you need, very comfortable beds, great shower and lovely relaxing living area. The garden is a huge area in 2 separate parts, one has picnic tables and the other washing lines and goalposts (which don't interfere with each other!). The weather was amazing when we were there and the outdoor space was really welcome. Cheryl and Paul are perfect hosts, anything we needed they responded quickly but you can be as private as you like. There is an outdoor tap in the courtyard which was great for rinsing wetsuits and a shared laundry which also has lots of books, games and dvd's to borrow. The area is quiet country lanes and farmers fields with barely a car in sight. Newgale beach is about 20 minutes away. Thank you Cheryl and Paul, we had a great stay and would love to return!
