What our customers say about their holidays

    • Paula - Verified booking

Amazing location - extremely close to the beautiful Harlyn Bay beach.

Literally 1 min walk. Beach was great as gorgeous sand and lots of space for everyone to distance themselves. Lifeguards also on duty so felt very safe. Fab family beach with surfers, body boarders, swimmers, families & pooches too - catered for all!. Loved it. Also worth parking at Harbour Cove (short drive away & also dog friendly) and walking along the beach all the way to Padstow - about 40 mins - well worth it. Access to SW coastal path walks from this location too. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Lovely welcome pack of tea, biscuits and even some treats for our dog. Plenty of cleaning / sanitising items too. Bedding / towels professionally cleaned which was lovely. Bathroom looked new and was lovely and new carpets upstairs too. Conservatory was a nice place to chill and we all felt that we had space if we needed it. Garden adequate size to sit and enjoy a BBQ tea. Improvements: Could do with a bigger fridge / freezer. Also new tv would improve stay as sound was an issue - couldn't get any on our first night. Lots of switching HDMI etc etc - too much of a faff! Owner aware and was very friendly when contacted so will hopefully will be sorted in the future. Not great mobile signal either which didn't worry us. House generally clean but would benefit from skirting dusted / kitchen drawers & cupboards having a good clean out. Some building work going on in the area but not too much of an issue. All in all a very comfortable, well equipped home in an amazing location. Definitely worth a stay. You won't be disappointed - we had a fab holiday.

Beautiful house, clean and bright with everything you could wish for and the kitchen sink! I was really pleased to see tableware and cutlery for children, amazing! Thoughtfulness of the tea, coffee, wine and cookies on arrival as well as the milk was very much appreciated after a long journey. Only 2 negatives are that we felt the property lacked power sockets/weren't set out for ideal use. The road is VERY noisy. We were lucky with the weather so needed the windows open at night. It's a particularly busy road or at least it was on our stay. Being at the top of the hill most cars are in a lower gear to get up the hill so the noise was particularly loud. Beautifully positioned for a good walk into town. 2 of our party weren't fully fit (injuries) so they struggled to walk what a local called cardiac hill but they got the bus from across the road and we were happy to walk. Thanks for a wonderful holiday.

Stunning immaculate property - views from the property amazing, from opening the curtains in the bedroom in the morning to the breath-taking sunsets on the main balcony in the evening. Kitchen, as was the rest of the house, amazingly equipped. We only used the car once because the coastal walks in the area are so easily accessible. So many beaches and bays to choose from, places to visit, from the hussle and bussle of Padstow, with boat trips, ferry to Rock, to the peace of Trevone. There are beach bars at Trevone and Harlyn, we enjoyed lobster at the Lobster Shed at The Pig in Harlyn, visited Padstow Farm shop several times, which is very close to Trevone, they sell delicious produce / meats / gins etc. Thank you to the owner of Pentire for keeping such a fabulous property, thank you Trevone.

The cottage was the most immaculate place we have ever stayed in.

The furniture was new and there was an abundance of kitchen utensils and crockery. Parking was also easy with spaces supplied by the side of the cottages. Yes there is building work going ahead in front of the cottage but noise was kept to a minimum and it didn’t effect our holiday at all. The bonus is being so close to the beach, no driving necessary which was great for our elderly dog and indeed anyone that can’t walk that far. A cafe in the beach car park supplied everything you would need. We found some lovely restaurants not far away, one being Rick Steins called The Cornishman and also The Pickwick Inn. Newquay riding stables are half an hour away with rides along the estuary, somewhere I have visited for the last 10 years. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rockpool cottage.

    • Joanne - Verified booking

The house was fantastic and in terms of self catering it was the one that has been best equipped for small children.

We had two under two and it was so useful. There were plenty of beach toys to borrow, a stair guard, a bath seat, an additional mattress to ensure it was a comfy cot, good high chair and plastic plates etc. The only niggle we had was that there was no recycling available onsite. You could see neighbouring properties had recycling available and it would be good if it could be looked into. We were conscientious and took all of ours to Padstow and took the plastic to the Eden Project but I fear others wouldn’t do so. It was a fantastic holiday and we would definitely visit again.
