"Very conveniently in Newton Abbot, Elm cottage provided a great base to explore south Devon.Supermarkets and high street very close-by as well.House had everything we needed at an adequate level and the dishwasher, washing machine and Wifi were very much appreciated. The kids loved the availability of Netflix.Good space inside the house but very steep stairs and dodgy step on stairs landing took a bit of getting used to. Dubious privacy as well as you can see straight through the glass front door into the living room at night. The house had terrible on-street parking though and we were unable to park outside the cottage the entire week we stayed due to oversubscription of the very limited on street parking available. Had to play musical chairs with the parking in the local area in the evening and early morning every day. We got used to this though once we found a regular routine to it.Special mention must go to the owner of the cottage who was brilliantly accommodating throughout; always quick to respond to anything we needed.Overall the pros outweigh the cons and Elm cottage is well worth looking into."

"A fantastic holiday in a very secluded, beautifully decorated, modern cottage converted from an old horse stable on a working farm. Everything is new and super clean while the host Paul is extremely friendly and welcoming and went out of his way to help. The walks in the farm’s 32 acres are stunning, with buzzard and bracken and the mysterious Elsford Rocks. The site is superbly equipped with pool, playground and games room and is very child friendly - get your timing right and you can collect a half dozen fresh eggs daily direct from the hen house. We had a week of rain but the farm is so lovely it didn’t matter - it is completely off the beaten track (expect to reverse along the narrow, winding surrounding lanes to let cars through at least once!) and gloriously peaceful. Clearly no expense has been spared - there are lovely touches everywhere and the cream tea waiting for us on arrival was delightful. Great value for money - I’ve been visiting Devon for nearly twenty years and this is the only place I wouldn’t hesitate to return to. Cannot recommend enough."

"What can we say....what an absolutely fantastic week we had at Garden Cottage. The welcome we received from Paul was second to none...from the minute we arrived we felt at home and in awe of the beautiful surroundings. The facilities offered by Paul and Jan are fabulous - the games room and pool were well used and appreciated by the whole family. As for the gorgeous cottage - WOW!! It was an ideal home from home with every detail thought of to make it a perfect and luxury stay. We all loved it. The local area is beautiful - we would recommend a walk around Trenchford Reservoir and a trip to Canonteign Falls. Make use of the land on which Garden Cottage sits with a walk across the fields to the beautiful view point of Dartmoor. We can't wait to visit again. Many thanks to Paul and Jan for their hospitality and a lovely week in Dartmoor."

"We were not happy with the rather long list of things that our dog could not do, some of which we understand (no dogs on furniture) but others were ridiculous (Not allowed to wee in the garden) If this list had been shown at the time of booking we would not have booked to stay here. The owners need to be more transparent and show this list of ‘rules’ on their booking page. We won’t be returning. We had to pay £30 extra to take our dog then spent the whole week worrying about him doing something on the list. I would suggest they don’t advertise that pets are allowed. The pet bed they provided which was only to be used in the tiny barely ventilated utility room was unfortunately very dirty. The cottage itself was really lovely, clean and very well equipped, just not pet friendly and therefore should not be advertised as such."

"Pure relaxation... the facilities on the farm are outstanding - pool, games room, play area including outdoor table tennis. Eggs fresh every morning. Fresh fruit - apples and pears - was available to pick when we were there. The wooded area called "The Glade" is beautiful - a stream running through the middle and a hammock and swing hanging from the trees. Acres of farmland to explore with some great walks and outstanding views. Check out the top field with the stone row - there is a timeless peacefulness about it. Paul couldn't have been more helpful. As my partner was unwell (and I couldn't drive his car), he helped with lifts to the supermarket in Bovey Tracey etc. The cottage had everything we needed. Already planning on returning next Summer. Thank you Paul and Jan!"
