"This lodge isn't really large enough for six people. The bunk room is barely large enough to get the bunk in. The living area was only just adequate for six people to be in. The provision of crockery, cutlery and glasses wasn't sufficient for six people - most people have more than one drink and one meal in a day, so exactly six large plates and six glasses isn't enough. Cooking equipment seemed a bit random and missing items such as baking trays too.The lodge is very close to other lodges and the fencing between the lodges is quite "industrial" in nature. We were fortunate in that most of the other lodges weren't occupied for most of the week but it was inevitably quite noisy when they were, and also meant we were conscious of not disturbing other guests. The pool was good, but it seemed a bit early to close it at 7pm (why so early?) and the rules for its use are quite restrictive. The games room was too hot to enjoy although was well equipped. Most disappointing was the wifi/internet provision. Whilst we accept that rural internet speeds can be low, the internet access was so slow as to be unusable. This would be bad enough, but to be charged an additional £20 for the privilege seems like rubbing salt into the wound. Not unreasonably, we expected that the £20 charge was to enable a decent connection to be provided. I'd recommend future guests not to use the provided wifi but to bring their own 4G wireless access point instead."

"We stayed in Oak Apple cottage for a week in August 2016 with two children and grandparents. We had great weather which always helps but we all had a fabulous time. The owners were very helpful and very friendly and the on-site shop sells most essentials plus delicious fresh products from the farm. The cottage was much larger than other holiday lets we've stayed at, with its own BBQ and outside table and chairs, and the heated pool (lovely and warm) and kids play park were a huge bonus and were used every day by the kids. There is so much to do within 30 minutes travelling in any direction that we could come back several times and do something new each day. My son loved the fact it was a working farm and he could watch a variety of farm vehicles at work and see chickens roaming close by. However this does mean there can be noisy animals in the night so take ear plugs if you're a light sleeper! If it wasn't for a few nit picking details (like no clothes line/airer to dry swimming stuff on; dirty floors on arrival (discovered by us all having black feet after a few hours in the cottage); permanently warm/heated floors even in warm weather and bathroom door locks that didn't work) then I would have given 10 stars as its a really nice place and suited us well. We would definitely go back here!"

"Extremely spacious rooms which ensured that the children could play and enjoy themselves while the adults had copious space. The kitchen was modern and very well equipped. There was enough crockery to cater several times over the maximum number of guests. The building itself was full of character with its quirky walls and floors. There was also good outside space in the garden with large table and chairs for when the weather was kind. The swimming pool was well appreciated by the children and unlike many pools was warm and did not take your breath away when taking the plunge. The children also enjoyed seeing the chickens either wandering around or in their large chicken pen. There is a childrens' play ground but it is fairly basic. The one thing we missed was adequate drying facilities for the washing when the weather did not allow you to use the outside drying lines. The hosts were very friendly and amenable. They provided nice little touches such as fresh flowers in the dining room, an initial batch of free eggs (which could then be purchased daily), and a batch of extremely tasty cakes on arrival."

"We were welcomed with big smiles from all the family and they couldn't do enough for us on arrival. The accommodation was fantastic, very modern and well equipped, right down to kitchen essentials and a welcoming box of gorgeous home made cup cakes and free range eggs courtesy of the farms chickens. Only slight negative was attention to bathroom cleanliness but definitely wasn't something to cause a fuss about. The on site pool was a great addition, clean and safe, other facilities in and around the site for all to use were very well maintained. Our dog had just as wonderful break as we did and the free roaming chickens were quite entertaining for him! Only down side was lack of public footpaths in the immediate vicinity, had to keep taking the dog out in the car. Maybe a games room of sorts would be an advantage at some stage but overall we had a fabulous break, would definitely recommend to friends and will be back sometime next year. Many thanks for making it such a lovely break away."

"Whilst the setting is beautiful, this place was not as described. It is very much geared towards those with disabilities and smelt like an old peoples home. We had no heating for over a week and even after phoning 4 times no one came to fix it. It got so cold my husband came home so the baby could share the tiny double bed with me. The mattress on our bed was so thin I had to put it on the floor as the slats dug in by morning. The pool is not right next to the apartment as stated and it was never free so we didn't get to use it. As for the parking outside the appartment... That is also a lie. You can park a short walk away from the path to the apartment but risk your car sliding down the slope which mine did, 3 times. We didn't see a member of staff once in 14 days and there was nowhere to out rubbish bags. I felt bad leaving them outside. If I'm honest I felt a little unwelcome at this place but needed somewhere to stay whilst building work was being done."
