What our customers say about their holidays

    • Craig - Verified booking

Had a nice stay at number 10,weather was fantastic and the lodge's location made getting about nice and easy.

Booking process and communication was spot on. Lodge overall was good but wasn't without issues,a dripping tap in the kitchen was annoying and the smell from the drains in the bathroom was terrible,I'm sure somebody is already aware as a can of tesco air freshener had been left in there to try to mask it.The outside area of the lodge needs some tlc, stained wooden flooring and covered in spiders cobwebs and although comfortable the table and chairs needed cleaning before use and have probably reached the end of their lifespan as they are very badly rusted . I don't want to be to critical because feedback is not always read the way its been written , we had a nice stay but these things need addressing. One final thing please ask people who stay to sign out of their netflix accounts, when we went onto netflix we were met with an offensive user name, obviously humourous to one person but not to all and I found it very embarrassing to see it sat there with my 71 Yr old mum. I'm not going to post it but can be supplied to owner if requested.

      Fabulous cottage, fabulous location!

WOW! What a wonderful arrival to Corner Cottage..from the moment we got to the front door, to stepping inside, to exploring the interior, we were blown away..what a fabulous place! It felt like a tardis as we went from room to room, the photographs on the Sykes website do not show just how spacious the cottage is, or how ‘luxurious’ the furnishings feel. The cottage is extremely clean, cosy, and comfortable. The renovations that the owners have done are of a very high standard, and very tasteful. We loved the bathroom...the shower was amazing! Communication from the owner was very good and helpful, and we appreciated the little personal touches we were greeted with..a wonderful ‘hamper’ for us and the dog! The cottage was very easy to locate, was in a perfect spot in the village, very quiet, parking was very easy, has a lovely little enclosed back yard, and just round the corner is an incredible bakery! What a gem!

The lodge was lovely and comfortable.

The outdoor furniture however is rusty and could with replacing also the posts on the patio area need cleaning and the decking could do with a paint. The steps up to the lodge are dangerous 3 front slats kept falling off and had to be pushed back on. There is a main road behind the lodge which is very noisy. There is nowhere within walking distance to eat and the lakeside restraunt is closed on Monday and Tuesday ....its peak season! We went at 6.15pm on the Wednesday to be told they are not taking any more orders ...they really need to be able to cater for the amount of people staying its August so get more staff? We found some nice walks but there is nothing much around the actual site. It may be an idea to provide a welcome pack luckily I took my own washing up liquid as none in the lodge. All in all the lodge was comfortable but could do with some TLC.

We book South lakes twice a year, this site is owned by South Lakes but not actually on the main site which we found really disappointing, it's across a busy road and looks like a basic caravan site.

The main site is great with onsite pub, pool etc - this sadly does not compete. It states in the listing positioned on South Lakeland Leisure Village, but be aware not on the main site (I did not even know there was a separate site and we have been visiting for several years). When you do walk across there is no pavement as you walk down to the pub/facilities so be aware. Static caravan it's self is nice but basic, beds are really uncomfortable and very small, we came home early as my partner could not stand it anymore. I know it's self catering but no small welcome pack, no washing up liquid etc - small things which mean you don't need to go out right away. Also the baking trays and frying pans are full of burnt on grease, I went and bought a new one and brought home as did not want to use them. Sadly this one is not for us.

A holiday we will never forget I find it difficult to review a holiday that offers everything you ever wanted and more, but this is one of those.

We where exited to see the accommodation as soon as we arrived and saw the quality of the properties on the well laid out site. We were not disappointed as we where greeted by a family of ducks who came back to visit every day of our stay. The property was spotless on arrival and situated within easy reach of the the stunning North West coastline and the amazing Lake District. A nice touch was the smart TV's to settle down to watch your favourite movie when you get back from a day out visiting the lakes. Although we ate out most of our holiday it was nice to come back and relax with a coffee on the decking in the early evening to watch the sunsets. This is a holiday we will surely return to in the near future.
