A beautiful house tucked away, up a lane, on the edge of Low Bentham.
Very relaxing and quiet. All the facilities are in the property to make you feel like youâre on holiday. Thereâs also a lovely patio and garden area with lots of garden chairs and settees to use (cushions kept in a box in the shed). We took our 2 small dogs and needed the garden to be secure (not just enclosed ⦠secure!) and I can confirm that it is secure! It makes a huge difference knowing that, when sitting in the garden, you donât have to worry about your dogs escaping. It allowed us to relax and I would urge all properties, who advertise on Sykes Cottages, and who allow dogs, to clearly say if the outside space is completely secure (rather than the unhelpful term âenclosedâ!). The house is quite warm all of the time (which is good ⦠Iâd rather be warm than cold). Plenty of storage space too. We love the area ⦠Low Bentham is just inside North Yorkshire but a stoneâs throw from the Lancashire border and not too far from Cumbria. However, unlike The Lake District, itâs much quieter (not jam packed with tourists) but itâs just as beautiful. My favourite walks from Low Bentham are towards the south. Once you cross the River Hindburn, youâre in beautiful, unspoilt Lancashire (heading towards The Forest of Bowland) with hardly a soul around. Of course, there are plenty of lovely North Yorkshire destinations nearby too like Ingleton, Settle and Clapham. If you just want to do nothing though, the property and garden are very pleasant to relax in.

Absolutely adore this cottage!
â¦it is a proper quirky, characteristic place, great for 2 people and 2 little dogs, the stairs, yes!, the stairs are traditional stone steps, so you have to take extra care, not an issue for us, but may be for the less able, low beams and door ways, you WILL hit your head if you are 6ft!, ( Iâm Tiny, I loved the charm of the beams, partner hit his head a few times!), we got lots of use from the log burner as we attended in March, cottage warms up nice and toasty, beds comfy, huge big lounge with comfy sofa, everything was clean and welcoming, a well stocked kitchen, owners called by on the Saturday to say hi, a welcome pack of a lovely cake, milk and treats for the dogs, ( thank you) the area is great for exploring, sadly the pub 1 minute from the cottage has closed down, but thereâs others in the village, local spar 2 mins walk, ( great shop) a couple of take aways, chippy etc, so excellent base, the only slight negative I can say is the internet needs up grading as it couldnât cope with a laptop and phone logged to it, the walls are so thick 4g couldnât get through them so had to go out side to use phone with dataâ¦.100% recommend beehive cottage for a break away, wouldâve loved to see the history/ story of the building and the renovation that was done, if the owner has these, please pop the story in the welcome packâ¦special mention to Goat Gap Cafe, best dog friendly cafe weâve been in!â¦

Our stay at Beehive Cottage in High Bentham was nothing short of magical.
This charming stone cottage offered the perfect base for exploring the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales. High Bentham is ideally situated for those eager to walk Three Peaks. Beyond the peaks, we found attractions just a short drive away, including Bolton Abbey and Malham Cove. Over the week, we walked 100 kilometres through some of the most picturesque landscapes in the Dales. Beehive Cottage is a gem. The stone building exudes character, beautifully blending traditional charm with modern comforts. Every detail in the cottage has been thoughtfully designed, making it not only visually appealing but also practical. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable and convenient stay. From the cosy living areas to the well-appointed kitchen, every aspect of Beehive Cottage contributed to a truly memorable holiday. If you're looking for a delightful retreat in the Yorkshire Dales, Beehive Cottage in High Bentham is the perfect choice. We left feeling rejuvenated and already planning our next visit!

Lovely cottage felt like home from home immediately extremely clean and tidy with modern decor and facilities.
Lovely welcome gift left from owner for us and treats for our little cockapoo milo . Garden was extremely safe and secure for the dig to run around fully fenced and lockable double gates so he had full run of grounds . The garden is a suntrap all day until about 8pm when we were there and the property is in a lovely quiet area with only 5 houses up a private drive which was so relaxing to sit outside and listen to the birds and we spotted couple of squirrels in the garden . Low bentham is very quiet no shop and only one pub but there is a lovely river walk up to high bentham or you can walk up main path where there are various shops pubs and cafes . Loads of places to visit either on foot or less than hour drive from country market towns and waterfalls to the coast of morecambe bay plus the lake district is very close . We really enjoyed our week and hope to return if we can find a week that is not fully booked .

Unusual for me to write a negative review, but unfortunately i feel i have too.
Upon arrival, found the shared road access difficult due to the narrow lane, if you have a large vehicle its quite narrow. Driving onto the property was quite surprised to see the state of the block paved drive, overgrown with weeds and grass in the drive itself, and then confronted by a poor appearance of the property. The outside was covered in cobwebs, paint needed redone, and windows definately in need of a clean, not a good first impression, and certainly not as the pictures show. The property is smaller than it appears, and i would suggest not suitable for people with walking difficulty. There are 2 child gates installed to prevent dogs accessing areas but these are in awkward places that i would consider trip hazards. The property was suitable for what we wanted but not up to the usual standard that we have always experienced, won't be booking again i am afraid. The property is
