Ploony Cottage is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its beautiful, peaceful location and welcoming hosts. Guests consistently mention the cottage's cleanliness, comfort, and the delightful hot tub. The enclosed garden is appreciated by dog owners, and thoughtful touches like Welsh cakes, wine, and flowers have been well received. While some guests noted minor maintenance issues and the need for supervision of pets and children due to nearby livestock and a stream, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Most guests found the cottage clean and well-maintained, though a few noted areas that could benefit from deeper cleaning or attention. The presence of cobwebs and a need for a deep clean in some areas were mentioned, but these were not the majority view.
The cottage's secluded, peaceful setting in beautiful countryside is highly praised. Guests enjoyed the tranquility and the proximity to nature and walks. The rough access track and remote nature were noted, but these aspects contributed to the charm for many.
Guests found the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a cosy atmosphere. The secure garden and hot tub added to the comfort. However, some guests suggested improvements such as additional wardrobes and a second toilet.
The facilities, including the hot tub, Wi-Fi, and kitchen equipment, were generally appreciated, but some guests reported maintenance issues like a leaky worktop and electrical problems. Suggestions for additional facilities like a dishwasher were also made.
The hosts' thoughtfulness was frequently highlighted, with guests mentioning the welcome gifts of Welsh cakes, wine, and flowers. While these gestures were greatly appreciated, it is noted that such gifts are subject to the hosts' discretion and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

Calm, relaxing, and in a pleasant area. Property The property is in need of significant TLC and reinvestment. It has a ârough and readyâ feel and lacks attention to detail and maintenance. Both the front and back doors were difficult to open, catching on either the floor or the frames, which made them challenging for the children to use. The cooker extractor did not work, and several switches looked unsafe to touch. There were two small fridges that functioned but were not ideal for a family stay. The mains-powered smoke alarms were missing from their housings in all three locations throughout the house, although a single battery-powered alarm was present. This added to the general theme of âit will do.â Cleanliness There were large cobwebs and spiders that had clearly been in place for some time, with dust visible on many surfaces. The bathroom tiles require regrouting, and the cooker, oven, and extractor all need a deep clean. The extractor, in particular, does not work properly. Hot Tub The water was warm and clear, but the pump did not seem to function correctly. It felt more like air blowing through the jets than proper pressure. For a four-person tub, the jets did not operate simultaneously, and in some areas, they did not work at all. Facilities The Wi-Fi worked very well, and the TV was functional; however, Sky did not work on several key channels, including ITV and Channel 4. Welcome Pack The welcome pack was informative, though the numerous laminated instruction sheets placed around the property with additional rules and âdoâs and donâtsâ felt excessive and should be consolidated into the main pack. Overall We had a pleasant stay overall, but the property felt underwhelming and below the standard expected. Its ârough and readyâ condition, lack of maintenance, and limited attention to detail made it disappointing. With proper reinvestment and care, it could be a much better experience, but as it stands, I would not choose to return.

The perfect country getaway in a great location. The setting is beautiful and peaceful which made it feel like a real escape. The cottage itself was spacious and cosy, really well equipped, and had everything we needed. The charcoal BBQ was a real winner for dinners outside in the sun together, and the hot tub was so spacious and relaxing, sitting out there in the evenings was GORG! Communication with the landlord was great throughout. We had a couple of small issues during the stay but Lindsey was an absolute gem to deal with and responded so quickly, which made everything so easy. Itâs a brilliant spot for groups and families, and cannot recommend enough.
