Guests say

Heyope Cottage is generally appreciated for its beautiful, peaceful location and well-maintained garden, with several guests looking forward to returning. The property offers a comfortable stay with a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches like chocolates and biscuits on arrival. Some concerns were raised about maintenance and comfort, but the positive aspects seem to outweigh these.

The cottage is described as clean by most reviewers, though some noted areas that could use more attention, such as dusty skirting boards. The overall impression is that the property is kept tidy.

The location is consistently praised for being private, peaceful, and stunning, with an enclosed garden and nearby fresh eggs. It's a highlight for guests seeking tranquility.

Comfort received mixed reviews. While the garden and surroundings are enjoyed, some guests found the beds and sofas uncomfortable. However, the peacefulness of the location contributed to the comfort for many.

Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and extras like a hot tub. However, some guests mentioned the need for maintenance and additional amenities like safety rails and better internet, which affects the score.

Guests mentioned welcome treats like chocolates and biscuits, which indicate thoughtfulness. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, they are a delightful bonus rather than an expectation.

A week in Hope Cottage, Mill Farm.1. On arrival the cottage looked tired, the outside woodwork needed a lot of TLC.2. Entering the cottage the interior woodwork mirrored the outside TLC.3. The cottage was clean but had a musty smell which we found to be the bedding, mattress coverings, pillows along with the bed linen. We sprayed all with Lavender water which worked to a satisfactory degree.4. The kitchen was well equipped however we had to buy a frying pan as those in situ were not hygienic usable.5. The 2 settees in the front of the cottage were uncomfortable because of age.6. The bathroom had a ridiculous rectangular WHB and the shower door came of its roller’s when my partner tried to close them to take a shower.7. The cold water ran at a snails pace in both the kitchen and bathroom. A bore hole was taken into consideration.8. The beds in both bedrooms were uncomfortable (a) because of the amount of toppings on top of the mattresses and (b) the mattresses did not support a relaxing sleep. Both single beds creaked and squeaked at every move regardless of how little.9. The weather was not good which meant we spent more time in the cottage than expected.10. Curtains on the main door and blinds were faded and stained.11. The Wood Burning Stove had no ancillary equipment to tend the fire we didn’t use it.12. No safety rails to assist you in and out of the Hot Tub, we didn’t use it. We are in our 70’s.13. No bins to recycle food waste from general waste.14. We never met the owner at all not even on a meet and greet.15. Personally I could only short stay ie; long weekend but no longer. This was our annual holiday and we were disappointed as the cottage lacked that home from home feeling and for the price we paid we expected better especially when you see the photo of the cottage and then have 1-14 above creep in over our stay. I admit that the weather let us down but so did the cottage.

Stunning location. Private, peaceful. Hot tub was great!Looked clean, but on closer inspection dusty skirting boards and ledge in bathroom. The addition of a cafetière and cheese grater would be good. As would cleaning equipment, if the expectation is to leave place clean! That said, yes, I would recommend Heyope Cottage. No charge for dogs which is unusual. Chocolates and biscuits a welcome treat on our arrival. You need os map or the app to find the footpaths and bridle ways as most are unmarked!
