What our customers say about their holidays

Thank you so much, we had such an amazing time at Damson Barn!

We stayed there for 7 nights and every night was fantastic. The barn is situated in a brilliant spot, nestled in the countryside. It was peaceful, picturesque and tranquil and we were far enough from Kirkby Lonsdale to be able to see all the stars at night and not be disturbed by any traffic noise. Our wonderful hosts provided us with information about local days out and activities which was a lovely little touch. Kirkby Lonsdale was about a five minute drive away and is a cute little town. There are lots of lovely walks that you can take in and around this town and even visit 'Ruskin's View' and the Devils Bridge. The town of Kendal is also close by, with Scotland being about a two hour drive away. So there are lots of things to do and places to visit in and around this gorgeous holiday cottage. The barn itself was immaculate. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The underfloor heating is to die for and the hot tub is regularly cleaned and maintained for our use. The beds were comfortable and we have actually gone and bought the same duvet cover set as the ones in the barn as it was the best week's sleep I have ever had. In regards to COVID-19, the barn was very well cleaned and our hosts went above and beyond to make sure that they were doing everything they could to help stop the spread of covid. We felt very comfortable there and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who asked. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful holiday barn :)

The property was absolutely everything we hoped for and more.

It was stylish and comfortable, clean and practical. The rooms were so spacious and there was nothing that was missing. We were especially surprised at how fast the internet speed was, considering it's such an isolated property. Not that we spent much time on our computers, of course, but it was really great to be able to sit back and watch shows on Netflix and such in the evenings without the internet constantly dropping out, which is a problem we've encountered at other holiday properties far less isolated. The location was wonderful, too. There were so many great restaurants and pubs within a short drive of the property (I highly recommend the Italian restaurant in Ingleton - that was a highlight of the week for us), and the property was only a short drive to the Lake District (just over half an hour to Windermere) and we even managed two days out at Blackpool (around an hour). I recommend booking restaurants well in advance if you can - we were there on half term and found that getting tables at some of the restaurants was a tad tricky, especially on Mondays/Tuesdays when half of the restaurants in the area were closed. I was slightly hesitant about staying on a working farm because they can get noisy, but we slept with the windows wide open and we weren't disturbed once. Our hosts were wonderful. Katherine was especially friendly, and we loved being shown around the farm and being able to feed the little lambs. If we're in the Lake District again I would definitely make another booking.

      Where do I start?

For starters, we thought we were going into a Barn Conversion located on a farm. We never expected it to be a 5-star luxury. This house is built to very high standards, The kitchen is superb with a big Fridge & the latest in appliances The furniture, Beds, Linen, Cutlery was of very high specs. The interior designer deserves an award for an outstanding design that blends the rustic rural with style, luxury, and comfort The outdoor hot tub was a fantastic experience both in the day and night. The "Barn Bungalow" as I would call it has a clean working farm surrounding it with lovely views Both Kathreen and Micheal and their beautiful family were warm friendly and very helpful hosts In just 5 minutes you can hit a walking path that gives you best views of the mountains of the lake district. It's only so much that be communicated via the written medium we will be sharing the "Damson Barn Blog " with photographs and drone footage later but if you are looking for a getaway surrounded by nature, clean air, country views and lovely people Damson Barn is the place to be.

      Damson Barn is wonderful.

It is located in the middle of the countryside with sheep bleating around you (wonderfully surreal whilst you are in the jacuzzi!) and with a working farm next door. The friendly and helpful owners have thought of everything in this modern barn conversion and the Barn was spotlessly clean. We were very comfortable and made good use of the lovely log fire. The owners greeted us on arrival but then kept their distance unless we wanted directions or information then they were very friendly and helpful. Farmer Michael was also very patient with our many questions about the animals on the farm and in the adjacent fields. Whilst you do need a car to reach Damson Barn there are also some lovely walks directly from the Barn to local villages. Alternatively, other villages with a lot of choices to eat/drink and supermarkets are only a short drive away. For a slightly longer journey (about 45 mins), the Lakes are certainly worth a visit; they are amazing. We will certainly be booking again. .

Really enjoyed the facilities, Damson Barn was excellent, well appointed and very comfortable.

Katherine and Michael, the owners were very friendly, and helpful if anything was needed not that we did. We enjoyed some long chats with them and they gave great advice on local pubs for eating, the locality generally and a guide to travelling times. We certainly found sat nav very useful to find the Barn location in the first instant but thereon was very easy and it was well placed for visiting the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Overall we had a great week, the weather gods smiled also smiled on us though not enough to tempt us into the hot tub. We tend to rate places on a simple, would we go back or not. This was definitely a ‘yes we would’, which is not a guarantee that we will because there are so many places we wish to visit but if we want to see more of the lakes and dales it’s a yes.

    Lancaster Castle

Lancaster Castle is historically fascinating and dates back to Roman times, when its commanding position on the hill overlooking the town of Lancaster and the River Lune protected the area from invasion. The castle today offers insight into the nation's religious and cultural beliefs throughout the centuries.
