What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Wollacott - Verified booking

We had a lovely stay at The Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable with beautiful views towards the creek from some of the rooms. Helford is a very picturesque and quiet village mainly situated around the creek - there is a village shop and pub. There are lovely walks from the doorstep in all directions. We spent a lot of our time on the water - paddle boarding and kayaking exploring the river and creeks (the outside shower was great for when we got back!). The Shipwrights pub is just over the road in a great location next to the water and we enjoyed a few drinks and meals there during the week (it gets busy and you can’t book at the moment so best to get there early although waiting outside in such a lovely setting isn’t too bad either!). The ferry over to Helford Passage is about a 5/6 minute walk away also. The courtyard garden is a good size and gets the sun in the morning and for much of the day (not in the evening). Some more comfortable seating would have been lovely but there was a table, chairs and bench which were fine. Thanks again for a lovely stay - we hope to be back one day.

We had fantastic 14 days in this cottage. Superbly equipped. Loved the spare fridge/freezer which was useful. Plenty of soft white towels. Loads of useful space under the stairs for shoes, bags, and empty luggage to store. We had some wonderful trips which varied between 209 and 50 mins away. Highly recommend the grocery store in Mawgan for fresh milk, fruit, veg, meat and bakery. We can also recommend Penn`s Pies which are made by Penny from down the road in Manaccan, and sold in Mawgan store. Kynance Cove is an absolute must! Beautiful clear water, spacious and great cafe overlooking the sea. Great day out in Falmouth where you can enjoy independent boutique shops, lovely cafe places, beach and superb National Maritime Museum. Another highlight was visiting Lizard Point. Fantastic place to eat is Polpeor Cafe. We had the most delicious lunch, home made mackerel pate, freshest lobster, salad. Just 2 mins up the hill was a lovely cafe overlooking the sea. Places to avoid are The Holy Mackerel Cafe, Helford-super rude, and Helford Village Store-old, out of date produce

Beautiful cottage fab locations just some of the equipment out of date or unable to use and house not really suitable for older/less mobile people. Leak from shower caused flood in kitchen which had to be mopped up. Had an issue with the heating system. After a very long telephone call with owner decided it was best to override the nest system. Leaflets for washer and dryer both out of date ie not the right ones so couldn't use dryer as just kept getting an error message and didn't want to call again. Noise from upstairs shower was extremely loud when in use. Not really suitable for my elderly parents because of all the steps, my mum fell in the upstairs shower on 1st day (step from shower into rest of bathroom) as she was holding all her shower things as nowhere in shower to put them except on the floor. Used downstairs shower after but it was a harsh lesson learnt.

Our family had a very lovely week in Manaccan in this cosy and warm cottage, where we immediately felt welcome – like a second home. We are very grateful to our hosts for this very beautiful place! We enjoyed a lot discovering the Lizard and Penwith peninsulas and their rich natural and historic heritage – full of treasures, even away from the touristic spots. In particular, we enjoyed walking on the coastal path from Church Cove to Kynance Cove or from Lands End to Sennen Cove; finding the stones circles of Merry Maidens and Boscawen-Un and the ancient sites of Boleig Pipers, Lanyon Quoit and Men-an-Tol, visiting Glendurgan Garden and Geevor tin mine (which we particularly recommend!) and watching the Regatta in Helford – where the strong local community bonds were very visible. We wish the next visitors the same happy experience here as we have had!

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. My boyfriend and I came from Falmouth, Massachusetts for a relaxing summer getaway and Valpre was everything we hoped it would be. The house is tastefully decorated, cozy, and had everything we wanted. My mom and sister joined us for part of our time there and we had plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed outdoor meals on the patio, gorgeous countryside walks along footpaths without needing to get in the car, tennis courts at the park in Manaccan, and drinks at the New Inn just down the road. A bit longer walk takes you to Helford where there's a yacht club, a cute shop for gifts and groceries, and a nice restaurant/pub right on the water (Shipwright Arms). I would highly recommend Valpre for anyone looking to enjoy this beautiful part of Cornwall. We'll definitely come back!
