"A very charming little cottage, with parking and a garden. Sampford Courtenay is ideally situated for exploring. The downside to the cottage is that it is on a crossroads and the traffic noise is incessant night and day. We appreciate it's hay making time but numerous lorries and tankers pass through there. Sadly that would stop us returning. The ground floor living area is lovely and provides everything you need. However there were two problems upstairs. In the smaller bedroom the mattress needs replacing, it had a huge dip in the middle, which was aggravated by the sloping floorboards, we tried turning it over but it was still the same, so did not provide support or a comfortable nights sleep. In the main bedroom the floorboards slope in all sorts of directions but the biggest problem is that there is a step up in the middle of the room which is fine during the day but when dark is easy to forget, and my husband tripped over it but luckily wasn't injured. Other guests have mentioned it and a danger tape has been stuck on it but as previously suggested, if the floor was levelled with a step at the door to the bedroom the problem would be resolved."

"The cottage is lovely, clean and well equipt. It's in quite location up a country lane. The owners are on site and they are lovely people, very friendly and helpful. The only draw back is the garden, although each cottage has its own allowcated bit of garden, the dogs have access, which is fine if they are both friendly and you don't mind someone elses dog wondering in to you property and eating your dogs biscuits! The gardens could be separated with a simple trellis fence that would make it great! Also the bathroom with the bath could do with a hand rail to help oldies like us to get in and out of the shower/bath. But I would most defernatly reccomend this property. There is a great paddock to walk your dog. you won't be disappointed, take lots of dog biscuits."

"Just had a wonderful week at The Bothy. It was just what we wanted, a comfortable, quiet and well equipped holiday home and the lovely owners who lived opposite were on hand if needed and they had left us a cream tea on our arrival. Transport is required as they are really in the beautiful Devon countryside. We did lots of walking and thoroughly enjoyed the whole week. Found some fairly decent local hostelries for supper and also cooked at The Bothy. Bought eggs and vegetables from the owners who have a lovely small holding with chicken and sheep. I hope that we can go back for another few days break as it’s a gem of a place."

"We had an excellent time at garden cottage. The photos really don’t do this place justice! Fab gardens and views! Drive to the house is a bit ropey, very narrow but totally worth it. Really friendly owners, did everything to help us, even got a new bbq for us to use! The garden is not enclosed so if you have a dog it was a little tricky keeping him near by but that’s the only down side. We had fab weather the beach is super close, has a lovely restaurant, definitely worth a visit! I would recommend garden cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing brake near to the beach. We will definitely be going back."

"Amazing & beautiful cottage that has been converted well & disabled friendly. It was extremely well equipped & very clean with enough room for our family. We knew when booking the cottage was off the beaten track, the views did not disappoint. Loved having the sheep near by the night before they were sheared. Lovely cream tea to arrive to after a long journey. Hosts were welcoming, friendly and left us to enjoy our holiday. We visited a variety of different places both south & north Devon. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay at The Foxes Larder."
