"From the moment we arrived it was a Wow! The warm welcome we received together with the high quality Barn conversion 'reveal' plus the tranquil setting and stunning Garden, all exceeded our expectations. The Barn is much more luxurious, spacious and quieter than we could have imagined or hoped for - extremely well appointed with every conceivable item for a comfortable stay thought of. Early mornings and evenings do get rather chilly so the having the underfloor heating together with it's generous overlapping time settings meant we never felt cold when we got up or before we lit the Wood burner as Sunset. Fresh Farm Eggs, milk and other essentials plus a generous sized free basket of logs and even fire lighters and matches all ensured a relaxed start to our break. The highly experienced owners are always discretely available next door in their co-located cottage, so on the rare occasion when you do need something it's sorted. Outside the control of the owners but nevertheless important I did feel I had to mark local amenities down to a 6 out of 10 as there's no local within walking distance since the Stockland Pub closed down in recent years. Not a major problem as there are two others within a short driving distance and of course there's always the possibility of pre-ordering a shopping delivery from one of the supermarkets amply dotted around the not-too-distant main towns. Overall a superb location and stay for walking or just totally chilling out in the peace and quiet."

"We had an amazing time here. There was 2 of us staying but we both felt it would be a great place for a few more friends or family. House has a beautiful finish and the master bedroom view is so special. The kitchen is really well equipped (the knives could be sharper), a gas BBQ available, lots of kindling and wood, two dining tables and outdoor seating. Right on the Tarka trail were we hired bikes nearby and had some brilliant lunches out cycling. so quiet but walk-able and quick drive to supermarkets, takeaways and nice local pasty shop. (we noticed local amenities marked lower in other reviews but cannot think what else needed unless a corner shop within a 5-10min walk)Mark was so helpful when we had any questions. We found Dragon Archery approx 30 mins drive away and what a Gem that was too - I cannot wait to comeback with from friends to Deep Barn and go back to the archery! Thank you so much."

"This was our 3rd visit for a family get together for a Burns dinner. Four families, four generations with plenty of room for everyone. The addition of the hot tub was brilliant and so was the games room, both were well used from lunchtime till bedtime. We are already planning on our next weekend visit, with 25 adults and 9 children (unfortunately 4 adults couldn't make it) this place is ideal. We could not recommend Duvale any higher than exceptional. There are more than enough facilities for everyone, separate kitchens so we managed to cook for all at once even keeping the vegetarian separate. Upon arrival on a snowy afternoon at the start of February we were welcomed with wood fires burning in both sitting rooms and a lovely warm house. Wifi throughout the house and Sky on the TV's in both sitting rooms also kept the kids happy."

"This was a lovely property, perfect for an out of season escape. Right on the Tarka trail you had unlimited walking and cycling right on your doorstep. It is large and detached and perfect for two people who want peace and quiet, with a bit of home comfort. I appreciated the hairdryer as I forgot my own. It’s a short walk to Bideford along the trail and the beautiful beach at Westward Ho! just 15 minutes drive. My only niggle was that the kitchen equipment was sparse and poor quality as is often the case with rental properties. If you want a fire the night you arrive bring your own kindling as they only provided three chunky logs and a couple of fire lighters which wasn’t enough to get the fire going. Also if you have fire gauntlets I’d bring them as I really missed mine! All in all a super break, with amazing weather in October."

"An ideal rustic retreat that I would willingly use again. Wheelchair access is available into the garden, cottage and kitchen/lounge. Access to upstairs bedroom possible for those who have some ambulatory movement but not possible for those totally wheelchair bound. Good car parking and access to the site. The neighbouring larger cottage would be ideal for a wheelchair user as it has a downstairs bedroom and ensuite facilities. Friendly owner, cottage clean and tidy with all the expected facilities. Be prepared for a thorough rest from modern electronic life as there is no WiFi and signal strength is largely non-existent. A lovely spot in an area that has remained largely unspoiled for 100 years."
