What our customers say about their holidays

    • Martin - Verified booking

The West Wing is a lovely house/cottage in a lovely rural setting.

Easily accessible by road. The place itself was spotlessly clean and has some beautiful furniture and pieces of art, decoration and antiques in it. The lounge and kitchen/diner were especially lovely rooms to spend time in. We had a very relaxing break there and would certainly recommend it to others as a place to escape too. The area surrounding the house provides much to see, walks and lots to explore. If you are asking what could be improved: (1) The beds was perhaps the main thing. These were not overly comfortable, and better beds would have uplifted our stay. (2) The main garden whilst it appears fully fenced in, on arrival we were told that there are some gaps in the hedge which do lead out onto a main road. This meant we couldn't get the dogs run freely in the garden but had to supervise them. Ensuring the garden is fully enclosed would be great. (3) Finally, the house is beautifully decorated and has many lovely pieces of decoration around the place. If you are staying here with younger children, dogs like us, etc you might want to do a sweep and lift some of these up out of the way to avoid damages! But overall, we had a lovely time, and a very pleasant stay. The couple that run the place (they live next door) were friendly, although a tip for those arriving, it is best not to arrive earlier than the stated time, as cleaning will still be in progress.

We had a lovely stay in the quirky cottage, was lovely to be right by the canal.

Was a comfy cottage with great facilities, and great location. As other reviewers have said, there are too many ornaments and trinkets meaning it's a worry (with a 6 year old) about potential breakages. Unfortunately I did break an ornament which was on a shelf right by the window, which I accidentally knocked when trying to reach the curtains. There's also a lack of space on surfaces to put our own things due to the trinkets, lovely as they are! The cottage would also benefit from some kind of manual covering basic things like when to put the recycling out. When we were there the bins were full to the brim likely because they weren't put out on collection day by previous guests, as they didn't know when to do this. Also other general information on the cottage and amenities would be helpful, eg we were keen to lock our bikes in one of the outhouses but no key. Also wasnt sure about use of the kayak. Overall though, a lovely stay and would recommend! These are just points to improve the experience for future guests.

We enjoyed every minute of our 2 weeks in Hen Dy Bryn Mawndy.

All the rooms were very tidy and clean on arrival. The view from our upstairs bedroom was absolutely stunning and in the morning we have savoured the first sip of coffee in bed looking into the fields and hills, saying hello to the horse and sheep. Though the weather was'nt too good in the second week with temperatures between 7 and 13 degrees and a lot of rain, we made the best of it and discovered the whole area including Snowdonia and Llandudno. The heating in the house is very good and easy to handle, so it was very cosy. The only minor remark I can make is that there are only 6 mugs in a house for 6 persons (which means washing up a lot). When our holidays finally came to an end, we didn't want to leave and now being back in Germany the thing we miss most is the view from the window in the morning. It was our first stay in (North) Wales and it is so beautiful (sometimes I thought I was in the Shire from the Lord of the Rings) that we will definitely come again.

Fantastic place , very modern and out of the way :) we loved our stay and had family down in blaenau :) very nice layout and the kids enjoyed their rooms, we had them downstairs and us upstairs and the views were amazing.

Will deffinatly be booking again as throughly enjoyed it, wish we had booked longer tbh. Would reccomend aldi in llangollen, has home bargins aswell which added plus. And the chippy in blaenau is amazing well worth the drive. We went to zipmas in at zipworld near blaenau and they were all friendly and very accomidating to our autistic 3 yr old :) Not going to lie its a drive to locations but you get to take in the stunning welsh landscape en route. You can easily just relax at hen dy mawndy instead as its so comfortable, has underfloor heating easy to use heating controls and the owners are always at the end of the phone and very friendly. Even had the heating on for us when we arrived which was a nice touch. Would 100% reccomend this place :) Worth the travel from west sussex From Melissa and Geraint

      Wonderful property.

Highly recommend. Lovely location that's easy to get to and has ample off road parking. Views from every room are incredible as it's set in the middle of a working farm - really going to miss waking up there. The property was spotlessly clean and fresh. Really impressed with the tasteful decor and all facilities - the showers had great water pressure, the beds and sofas were comfortable and the smart TV's in each room worked great. The kitchen was well stocked and the spacious open plan diner was perfect for entertaining and family games. To add to all this, the owners were really friendly and their welcome pack/ directions were super helpful. Cannot wait to book to go back, such a gem of a property!
