What our customers say about their holidays

    • Helen - Verified booking

When we arrived the cottage was completely infested with flies.

After 2 days I managed to get rid of them, I lost count after about 30. There were also a couple of slugs on the kitchen floor. There was a layer of dust over the stove and some of the furniture. The armchair and sofa were very grubby and the throws put on to cover them up were too small and kept sliding off. The TV didn't work very well and there was something wrong with the hob - difficult to switch on and impossible to control heat level. No instructions for anything didn't help. There were instructions for the wood burner but no 'starter pack' and it looked as though it hadn't been used for years. The bed at least was clean but the mattress was hard. The cottage looks out on to a main road so very noisy, people walking past the window and cars parking right outside all day and night. There is over a foot drop from the parking area at the back to the door of the property with no hand rail - very dangerous. Also no handrail on the very awkward stairs between the main bedroom and the bathroom. It's a shame because Ruthin is a lovely little town and this cottage could be quite nice if it was properly cleaned and maintained and some basic safety features installed

      Cottage was fabulous .

Very clean , and with excellent facilities , including very good parking . Just on the edge of Ruthin , with a convenience store and petrol station within easy walking distance . Ruthin centre was a 10 min. walk up an incline . The town is really nice , with a couple of supermarkets for your food shopping , independent shops and pubs and restaurants. The only reservation I had was that the back garden is not secure , so if you are taking your pet you will need to exercise them at the local park , which is about 100 yds away and again is very nice. This did not spoil our holiday , and was really only a minor niggle against all the plusses the cottage had to offer . Owner Sion was brilliant . A really nice guy , and very knowledgeable about the area . I would nt hesitate to rebook or recommend this cottage to anyone with or without pet.

A lovely, cosy cottage, perfect for two.

This cottage is immaculately appointed and everything worked perfectly (when the dishwasher operator error was sorted!) The bed was comfortable, good quality bedding and plenty of towels were provided. The kitchen had everything we needed and the owners thoughtfully provided milk, tea, coffee, and Welsh cakes for our arrival. The location is handy for a walk into Ruthin town centre, but be aware the hill is steep for those of us raised on the Cheshire Plain. There are plenty of things to see and do within 30 minutes drive in any direction from retail therapy to mountain moorlands to coastal beaches. Overall, we had a relaxing, comfortable stay enjoying an area we know well from a different perspective.

3rd time staying here and definitely not the last.

It's a perfect base for us and our dog for local walks and venturing out to beach walk and national parks and lake Bala. The local town has everything we need. Shops, supermarkets and 2 lovely pubs dog friendly. The Park Place very friendly staff and locals. There's a pizza kiosk on car park freshly made wood fired pizzas are the best. The Boar which was closed last year has reopened and taken over by a lovely lady and when chatting she is originally from our area in West Midlands. We feel like it's home from home and the owners are very helpful should you need help. The bonus this year is back garden has been fenced off so we didn't have to keep our dog on lead when we sat outside. Perfect stay

The cottage was in an ideal location, just on the edge of Ruthin with a pub, shop and takeaway minutes walk away.

The bed was very comfy and bedroom a good size with lots of storage and generally the cottage was clean. However, we did not like the throws on the furniture, although I can understand wanting to protect the furniture, the throws were not very clean. The kitchen was a good size with fridge, dishwasher, washing machine etc. unfortunately we could not get the hob to work. Having a private car parking area was a real bonus as parking in Ruthin is very difficult. The outside area with an undercover patio was a real surprise and a great safe area for our dog. Despite these little problems we would recommend this cottage.
