What our customers say about their holidays

    • James - Verified booking

So the property itself is gorgeous, really great location, great facilities and just looks gorgeous.

Even with the issue we had, if it was resolved then the score would have been very high. However we checked in on Saturday, on Sunday we tried to use the main bathroom to bathe our baby daughter, but the water wouldn’t drain out. Taking out the plug revealed months, probably years of filth. We had to try and take some out, handfuls of hair, dirt and grime just so the water would start draining, all be it very slow. No phone number for the owner just an email, which was sent with pictures, I also contacted Sykes who said someone would be out on the Monday to resolve it. Monday came still no reply from the owner and no one came to fix it Multiple more messages and emails all with no response Tuesday came - called Sykes - someone would come and sort it today - no one came More messages and emails - no response Thursday called and raised a complaint - still waiting - we cut our holiday short and left. The second bathroom was completely unusable in this time so we had 5 people all using the en-suite in the main bedroom for showers, and we had to resort to bathing our daughter in the sink!!! The lack of cleanliness was horrendous that it had got to that point, but the lack of care or even acknowledgment was the real issue. Also no microwave which made sterilising bottles more time consuming, but not the end of the world.

Even though we were aware that the property has been recently refurbished, it exceeded expectations!

Everything has been recently replaced or decorated from the kitchen to the bathroom, carpets, furniture, the lot! We enjoyed the comfort of the lounge and the tv package also has sky cinema for the evenings. Breakfast on the balcony was a lovely way to start each morning. You can see the sea just over the field The location is fantastic. The property is in a quiet close and you are about 10 mins walk to the coastal path where you can walk to polperro (about 40 mins) or Talland Bay (about 15mins). The coast path is stunning. We saw Seals but several people mentioned seeing a pod of about 15 dolphins in Talland Bay the day before. It’s also just off the main road to Polperro, meaning you can quickly get on the main road in the morning and visit places further afield if you wish. We’d also recommend the pub at the caravan park a few minutes walk away and it’s worth mentioning that they do food and takeaway service too. Some take aways in Looe also deliver for a small delivery fee. There are designated spaces for parking of the carport or garage and while both can be squeeze (especially if there are other cars in the close) it is no hardship to park around the corner 50-100 yards away

The house is very lovely and has all the essentials of a decent holiday home however we were disappointed that the listing wasn’t disclosed to be as part of an estate and that the balconies overlook other houses and families also on holiday.

Out the back is a large car park and sports ground where cars are screeching around until late and early morning, tip trucks turning around (outside the window). We didn’t have a relaxing holiday at all as there were constant early morning activities in the sports ground, and on our only sunny day, when we wanted to have a leisurely breakfast on the decking the owner had sent his gardener to mow the lawns- with no notice other than waking us up! I’m unsure why this couldnt have been done the following day in between changeovers, or why we weren’t advised that we would be woken early to someone in our garden. Note that during this time the dogs also couldnt go out into the garden for their morning toilet. Additionally the property states it is dog friendly, and even though plastic beds and bowls are provided, the safety of the dogs is not considered as the garden isn’t enclosed. It wouldn’t take much to secure it so dogs didn’t wander off into other house’s gardens, or into the road. A lovely house but sadly our experience was not a relaxing and enjoyable one as guests peace isn’t respected and some important details were withheld before booking or arriving.

The bungalow is very well equipped for holiday stays, lots of kitchen items, cleaning products and overall very comfortable and homely.

The downfall is the bathroom, both my girls were looking forward to having soaks in the bath (only a shower at home currently), but the bath takes a considerable amount of time to fill with the hot water only lasting for approx 1 minute before this stops. We called the owner to be told this was normal and the shower was electric so to use this instead, however the shower jumped from extreme hot temperatures to freezing cold regardless of the settings used. The TV had low or poor signal the whole time, which prevented us from watching any other channel than BBC 1 without it cutting out all together or looking at a black screen every few seconds. The bungalow is a great base for families to explore Cornwall, and situated in a lovely spot for children to play on the play area, whilst always being in eyes view. With a few adjustments this would be perfect for all to enjoy. We booked for the week so the lack of shower & bath really affected our enjoyment of the bungalow.
