What our customers say about their holidays

    • Alastair - Verified booking

The Wink was amazing the moment we entered, it had the wow factor!

, despite having arrived in the rain and mist. The layout of the accommodation was well thought out and executed, the ability to close the outer sliding doors and the Velux roof blinds allows the lounge/kitchen area to be sufficiently dark at night for our little dog to sleep through, the nice long walks helped. Very comfortable bed, and great bathroom, especially the large shower enclosure, always plenty of hot water throughout the day. Nice touch to have bath robes supplied, especially for going outside to use the hot tub. Great kitchen area with the Everhot range. Well stocked with all the utensils we needed. The best welcome basket we have experienced anywhere in self catering accommodation, all top quality locally sourced items. The walled patio area outside was ideal, and safe for the dog and a nice sun trap for most of the day, we managed to use the hot tub, without difficulty, plenty of easy instructions and useful information in the guest book. One of the outstanding benefits was the quiet location on the farm, no traffic noise, very peaceful, great access straight onto the SWCP at the end of the lane, great walks with stunning views. A very easy 10-12 minute walk into St Just with all the essentials, and great pubs, so no real need to be constantly using a car. Lorna, the owner came round shortly after we arrived, to see we were settled in OK, and husband Harvey also passed by during the week. They have gone to great lengths and much thought has gone into presenting this first class accommodation on their farm, it is certainly the best we have stayed in over the years we've been visiting Cornwall. We will most definitely recommend The Wink and hope to return. One last thing, the Cape Cornwall rum that is produced on the farm is excellent!

Everything was better than we expected (apart from the weather'''''') The owners Julia and Dave were a joy to meet a were extremely helpful.

My only criticism was the design of the Wet-room pump action centrifugal spinning floor mop which I thought was a novel and great idea but it is not not fast enough to be effective and not the owners fault either. Then there was the impossibility in getting a cab to take us to the Polgooth when it was RAINING. But to be be Fair it is too short a FARE to make it worth their while I suppose. Still I can't help wondering if they would show an interest and suddenly find an available cab if you were to say name your price, or they could impose some sort of surcharge for short runs at peak times as a minimum charge. To be honest, I would happily have paid an extra £5 or even £10 on a special family night out to save us all from a drenching from the Biblical downpours.. that would have had Noah heading for the hills. The steep driveway was not anything to worry about and became a bit of a chuckle after the first ascent / decent. btw there is hardly any phone signal so a good way to chat is via messenger or whatsapp but then I expect most people know that one already but I was a bit slow to suss that one out. All in all, none of that was Dave and Julia's fault and I've been rambling a bit now methinks, and have digressed from announcing most importantly that this was possibly one of the best retreats that we have spent our break in/at and wouldn't hesitate from recommending to my friends.

There are no words to describe just how fabulous this cottage is.

We stayed for Christmas and arrived at midnight after a 5hr journey to a beautifully lit Christmas tree, a wonderfully warm cottage and a welcome box full of the most amazing and thoughtful goodies. The property is immaculate, everything is just that more lovely than you’d hope, the kitchen is full of brilliant utensils.. all lined up and sparkly clean!! Made me smile at the thoughtfulness of the owner and the time spent making guest’s stays all that more memorable. Wonderfully quiet and a few steps through the gate is THE most incredible view and wonderful walks around Cape Cornwall. Two minute drive into St Just which is full of super cute shops, pubs and a fab Co-op. The cottage is perfectly placed for exploring Cornwall. We travel all over the country with our dog and have stayed in many cottages over the years - this is the very best for location, luxury and all round relaxation. We WILL go back.. didn’t want to leave!

The Wink is nestled in a lovely working farm and a stones throw from the wonderful St Just.

I would heartily reccomend a good walk around the village. Please do use the shops there. I can personally recommend the fish and chips, The dog and rabbit cafe and the Star Inn. And you must visit the church yard and the Kurt Jackson Gallery. The Wink provides luxury and comfort - so cosy you probably won't even need to light the fireplace. The hosts are there if you need them and most helpful if you do. The surrounding area will keep you busy in the summer or winter and the Nature - flora and fauna is stunning. The hosts welcome pack is very generous. The bed is super comfy. And the bath accommodates a lovely bubbly soak after a day of walking the coastal path. The kitchen has all the equipment you could possibly need and the cooking range is so nice to use. Thank you so much - xx

Seagull's nest is a hidden gem on the cliff top.

The property is well looked after and is furnished to a high standard. It has everything you need; the shortcut to the beach was particularly handy, as were the body boards in the shed (we used these instead of ours because they were better than the ones we brought with us!). The washer was also a welcome treat. One thing we noticed was that there have been some improvements to the property which aren't shown on the pictures (such as the steel hand rail) and it would be worthwhile perhaps updating these on the website. The other thing that would be helpful is directions from the cliff path as we went past the chalet a couple of times before we found it. No complaints, we would definitely recommend! Thanks for a great week.
