What our customers are saying about our Country Cottages In Chelmorton To Rent.
Mr Powell - verified booking
"We had one fairly large heavy suitcase and it was almost impossible to manoeuvre it upstairs due to the design of the staircase. Similarly we don't know whether items such as toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets should have been provided for the duration of the holiday (which in other self catering units we've used they certainly have been). Therefore unless they were designed as "starter packs" one and a bit toilet rolls and three dishwasher tablets certainly didn't cut the mustard for a 7 day break. The major items of equipment were in good order(microwave, dishwasher, TV etc) but the towels were of relatively poor quality (thin and shedding cotton). Litton/Tideswell is a really good base for a walking holiday- which is what we were doing with other members of our walking club- and we enjoyed our stay at Bluebell Cottage notwithstanding the comments above."

"What a fabulous apartment! We stayed for a week with our friends and had a great holiday. The apartment is light & airy, spacious, really comfortable and has everything to ensure a perfect getaway. The beds are amazing, really high quality, the kitchen is very well equipped with equally good quality items. The comfortable beds are important as there are many walks from the doorstep. A fairly steep, but not too scary, path just along the road means that it is possible to join the Monsal Trail which goes all the way to Bakewell and beyond. A gentle walk through the Tideswell Dale leads to the village of Litton and a pub that serves an excellent Sunday Roast and some interesting beers. Many thanks to Rachael for her warm welcome and speedy response to a minor hiccup (oh, and the wonderful freshly laid eggs) we are planning to return!"

"However closer examination revealed a meanness of spirit setting up the cottage. There was 1/4 loo roll, 4 SHEETS of kitchen roll, no hand wash in the bathroom dispenser, no tea, no coffee, no oil etc etc. These shortcomings were reported by others in the visitors book but had obviously been ignored. Why have the book if you take no notice of the comments. I reported the shortcomings to the cottage manager but she did nothing. The cottage owner blocked our calls. Sykes gave us a £40 voucher but this could only be used for future bookings. So Sykes would ensure future business. We have stayed at many high rated cottages and never had any problems. This experience has dented our opinion of Sykes and their rating system."

"The property is an excellent example of a refurbishment, with fittings of a high standard. The shower room is particularly stunning, showing the excellent taste and skill of the owners. This is a property which is fairly remote, providing a quiet base away from the hurly burly of modern life, yet not too remote for those who want to visit tourist attractions and towns such as Buxton and Bakewell and the owners are often available should you need suggestions or advice. The views from The Calf Shed are beautiful, even when shrouded in mist . I would recommend this location and this property to anyone. Relax and enjoy."

"A huge holiday house with lots of room for our party of six. We never felt on top of one another due to the space in the house. The owner provided everything you could possibly think of, with more than enough towels for our week's stay, plastic plates & cups for children and full Sky TV. Huge, comfortable beds and a lovely big dining table which we often sat around with a glass of wine! The house is only a 10 minute walk into the town and around a 25 minute drive to Alton Towers. We've booked several houses with Sykes before, but this was by far the best."
