What our customers say about their holidays

The apartment was in a good location, close to amenities and beach.

It was exactly as advertised and we were happy with it, on the whole. The bay it’s self it’s fantastic with a gorgeous dog friendly beach 10 minutes walk away. Positives: Dog friendly Close to amenities As described WiFi worked well Nice views of courtyard from bedroom windows Negatives: There was a couple of areas which we felt let down the property, for example there was only around a quarter of a toilet roll in the bathroom, with no additional rolls provide. Firstly we didn’t feel this was hygienic (From a COVID perspective) as it was obviously left by the previous occupants who would have touched it, and it’s not as though it could have been sanitised afterwards. It was also inconvenient as there is no shop onsite. Also, there was only about 2 ‘squirts’ worth of liquid soap in the bathroom. Again this isn’t great especially at the moment when we’re all so keen to wash hands more often. We did pack hand sanitizer so it wasn’t a massive issue but again, it’s just the details that make you wonder what else has been missed. The fridge was extremely noisy, it seems like the fan isn’t working correctly and there was a constant and fairly loud hum. We were only there for 2 nights so didn’t bother us too much, but it probably would be annoying if staying for longer. We would definitely return to the bay, but we’d likely chose a different property next time around.

The holiday started on a bad not as after a long tiring journey the reception on the site told us we weren’t entitled to the leisure pass we’d been promised.

After a few conversations and contact with Sykes we eventually got the pass which we used everyday. The flat was well equipped for a short stay and was a stones throw from the leisure centre and pub which was very handy. The furniture and bed was very comfortable and we slept well for the whole week. Our little Frenchy Leo loved the area and enjoyed his many walks to the lovely nearby beach. Another problem in the flat was that the dining table was too wobbly to use but again a quick phone call and this was sorted within a couple of days. We enjoy touring the area and visited the three local resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. We found parking a bit of a pain as some car parks are cash only or an app called Ringo which we didn’t have and trying to load it on 4g was a pain. If you like pies we highly recommend the local dog friendly Piebald Inn which is a real ale pub and has a massive range of pies to choose from but make sure you are hungry as the portions are very large. All in all we had a lovely time at Sunny Bay which we highly recommend as we would definitely book it again.

The apartment was well equipped, spacious for a couple.

The bathroom was good and the hot water was great. The cleanliness of apartment could have been better, lots of dust and the communal hallway had a musty smell. Although there was a notice in the apartment saying extra cleaning had been in place due to covid-19 and the remote controls, hairdryer etc had been sterilise and placed in plastic bags they had not! We brought our own bedding and towels, the bed was not very comfortable but we expected that. The juliet balcony was nice for the late afternoon sun however the occupants below often had a cigarette at their outside table so this filled our bedroom with cigarette smoke. The site was very good, the pub was just across the road, we did use the pub a couple of times but we did not like how many dogs there was in the dining area, people feeding them at the table! We saw one cock its leg on the wall and nobody bothered but we are not dog people. We thought that the apartment was OK but was expensive and the cleanliness let it down, the site was good and it's an ideal base to explore the Yorkshire coast. We would go again but would do more research.

This was a self catering holiday, but unfortunately there was no cupboard space available for groceries.

The fridge had only one shelf which made it difficult to store perishables. The kitchen utensils were crammed in two drawers along with the knives, something I thought was rather dangerous. We took the time to organise the drawers a bit more safely. There was actually four sets of kitchen utensils if you included a wooden set as well as three gas lighters which was strange as the cooker was electric. The lack of privacy was an issue as well, the blinds were of the roller style which meant if you didn't want people looking in on you, you had to lower them which then cut out your light. This was just not in the living but in the bedroom which had blackout curtains on the doors.

Although a newish property it was shabby and needs maintenance.

The door latches didn’t work. It had not been cleaned properly before we arrived. The floor was sticky and the bathroom was very unclean. There was food. left behind in the kitchen waste. The skirtings were covered in thick dust especially behind the bed and the bedside lights. The bedroom lampshade is falling apart. I have never complained about a property before and if something was not quite right, have just put up with it. However, after our stay at Krusty Krab, I feel that I must bring this to your attention so that someone else’s hard earned holiday is not spoilt by a shabby apartment. It did spoil an otherwise pleasant break in a lovely area.
