Overall, a nice apartment which was clean, finished to a good level, and conveniently located close to town and just over the bridge from the Country Park. Therefore, I would consider staying here again. On arrival, I struggled to find parking close to the apartment, which being on my own meant I had to do a couple of trips to the car, but I did manage to move my car to opposite the apartment early the following morning. The apartment is on the 2nd floor with a steep staircase and no landing area outside the door for luggage whilst opening the door (for which you need both hands), so would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Instructions would be useful; I found the electronic keypad difficult to use until I got used to it, along with instructions for things like the heating and Wi-Fi etc. Despite Cottages.com listing the property as not allowing pets, other reviews under another name (Church Walk View) on Booking.com clearly showed dogs in the apartment, this apartment was also showing as available for dates I was occupying the apartment which made be a little anxious that someone could turn up having also booked! Facilities were good although would benefit from somewhere to dine or work, I was on a working holiday so had to create a makeshift workstation with the sofa and side table which was very uncomfortable – sofas generally weren’t very comfortable. It would also benefit from champagne flutes, a bread knife, and cushions for the sofas. Tea and coffee canisters were basically empty but dirty, I washed them and left the small amount of tea and coffee which had been left in the “welcome pack” which was underwhelming (contained a handful of tea bags, sugar and coffee sachets, 2 jam portions, 4 milk portions, and a couple of biscuits). Filey itself is wonderful and I visit at least a couple of times a year, personal recommendations would be Inghams for fish and chips, The Cobblers Arms for craft beers, Mr Wray’s for Filey inspired gifts (I picked up a jigsaw and coaster), Seagull Gallery or the Post Office for arts and gifts, Sterchi’s for handmade chocolates, and The Filey Deli for baked good and preserves.
