What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kelly-anne - Verified booking

Located on the High Street, this place is a great location close to food, shops, the beach, the castle, and the train station.

The view from the back doors does offer the enchanting view of the castle, as advertised on the Sykes' site. The directions received on how to find the place were not super clear but we managed to find it without too much inconvenience thanks to Google's help. At first glance, the property looks fabulous but some things were not as perfect as they seem. The 2 high dining chairs were hard and uncomfortable to get in and out of and is the only place to eat with the chairs sitting mere inches from the washroom door. The wooden armrest covers are heavy and fall easily to the floor with a loud crash. It would also have been appreciated if there was a place to hang coats and a small doormat. It rained a little bit during our stay and there is nowhere near the door to hang gear to dry, the only doormat to wipe off footwear is located outside the room so the floor got a little dirty when we removed our outerwear. The bedding and pillows were simply lovely but the bed itself was too soft for our comfort. At times, the noise from the street was audible and would wake us briefly, but it was not really awful. The heavy curtains really helped to block light as well as noise. We really appreciated having the dishwasher as there are not many pieces of each plates, bowls, cutlery etc. Thank you for the Welsh cakes, instant coffee, sugar, and milk as well. We would stay again if we were in the area for a short stay. On a side note, the fish and chips we had on our last night from the shop below was FABULOUS!! One of the best cod we've ever had! (I believe the establishment is owned by the same owner as the apartment.)

Staying in the Vyrnwy apartment, we had spectacular views over Bala Lake.

During the night, the area was very dark and therefore the stargazing was impressive. The apartments have a short walk to Bala town where there are restaurants, pubs and shops. The apartment contained a large bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, all of which were very clean. Further to this, the balcony had two comfortable seats and a table which were perfect for relaxing and looking over the lake. We had views of the train which passes close to the apartment (only passes a few times a day and won’t honk unless you wave so therefore was not a disturbance). You can swim in Bala Lake as well as kayak, meaning that there are plenty of activities to get on with during your stay. The apartments are also not too far away from destinations such as Portmerion (45/50mins drive). The owner Beatrice gave us a lovely welcome and was also very helpful with any queries we had. On arrival we were supplied with milk in the fridge, as well as tea, coffee and sugar. This was by far one of the best apartments we have stayed in and would highly recommend.

For longer visits (we stayed just short of a week) we could have done with some more bath towels, definitely more than one roll of toilet paper, more than one bin bag for the kitchen and having some paper towels provided.

We had to replace the batteries in the TV remote. Although the pillows are obviously good quality, they were very lumpy and so some additional variety of non woollen would have been appreciated. Road by bedroom is very bright and noisy, a good pair of blackout curtains would go a long way to fixing this. Shower ran out of hot water on one occasion (used for no more than 20 minutes) and internet did drop. We got ticketed parking in the diagonal bays of what we thought was the long stay car park, this is very confusing to a non local especially arriving after dark. Some extra information as to which bays are long stay and can be parked in on the 'getting your keys' section would help. All that said these are very easily fixable niggles and our overall stay was enjoyable. The flat is very well situated for visiting the area and to a high standard of furnishing. The welcome cakes and milk were a nice touch and flat was spotlessly clean.

Excellent ground floor property, very clean and tidy with everythng needed.

No noise came through from other flats. Nicely situated for Caernarfon attractions, all within easy walking distance. Ideal also for setting off to places further afield. Road outside not busy or too noisy most of the time. Couple of very minor points whch did not affect my break: The TV refused to come on at first and there were no instructions. The information booklet mentions a Samsung TV but it is a Logik. Problem solved by unplugging and leaving off for a whle. Worked first time when plugged back in and everytime afterwards. Also good wi-fi throughout, good enough to watch football on Laptop in HD. The road was generally quiet but occasionally a car with a loud exhaust would speed past in the early hours. No great problem to me. A kitchen waste caddy was mentioned in the information but I could not find one. Anyyway, apart from such very minor things, I reall enjoyed myself, Thank you very much.

The location is stunning and has great beach access.

Fantastic views! The flat had everything we needed. The kitchen is well equipped and was very clean. The bathroom is modern and was very clean. Plenty of towels. The roof in the living room leaked when it rained not only during the storm. The carpet in the dining area is in need of cleaning/replacing The hot tub was great especially at night with clear skies. Temperature was controlled by the owner and it was on the cool side. Both the double mattresses are in need of replacing. It was lovely to hear the sea at night when going to sleep and on waking! The steps up to the flat can be slippy when wet and need grip plates on them. We had a great time with local walks and time on the beach/painting from the patio. Caernarfon airport is great for lunch or coffee. Airport museum good to!
