What our customers say about their holidays

    • Glyn - Verified booking

We absolutely loved our stay at Gwel y Mor.

We booked last minute as the weather forecast looked promising, dry but cold. On arrival at the apartment we collected the keys easily and the parking space was very handy. The apartment was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed. Heating the apartment was no trouble despite how cold it was and we were extremely comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the shower/bath had instant hot water. We cooked our evening meals and again all the crockery, cooker fridges etc were spotless. There was a dishwasher but we didn't use it as that's my job! TV and internet was faultless and we were very happy in the apartment. However the star of the show is the view! You literally sit in the bay windows looking directly out to sea! To your left is Harlech with its castle and the Rhinog ridge on the skyline from Moel Ysgyfarnogod to Rhinog Fawr, Rhinog Fach, Y Llethr, Diffwys, Moelfre and dropping away to Barmouth! Then Cader Idris stands sentinel and the coast is visible heading down towards Cardigan. On your right is Llanbedrog with it famous Tin Man stood on the headland and then the coast as it curves round past Abersoch to the Cilan headland and the St Tudwal islands with Bear Grylls light house winking at you! In a morning we sat with a hot cuppa as the sun rose behind the mountains and then lit up the sea and in the evening the sky towards the headland was the most glorious orange! Despite coming here to walk it was hard to drag ourselves away from the view and actually get out! The Wales Coastal footpath runs right past the apartment and the Llyn Peninsula is blessed with so many wonderful footpaths either coastal or hills. It's easy to catch the train along the Cambrian Coast and the buses are only 15 minutes walk away. If you do come here between April and September check out the Fflecsi bus service which picks you up and drops you off all around the Llyn for a nominal fee, its a fantastic way to get about. Pwllheli was around 15 minutes walk and there are supermarkets and fuel so there is everything you need. The owner had left us coffee, tea bags, milk in the fridge, Welsh Cakes and chocolate biscuits which were a really nice touch. There were lots of other little extras like phone charging cables, books, games, information and a fantastic pair of binoculars to use. Communication was really good and it was one of the best apartments we have stayed in and we hope to return very shortly as we are already missing the views. Many thanks for a great stay Glyn & Ann .............Diloch yn fawr

This is the worst property we have stayed in over the 8 years of using sykes.

Be prepared to take cleaning clothes, loo roll, washing up liquid and mop as the owners don't provide them. The hoover wasn't emptied and the steam cleaner and type of long handle duster thing was dirty and disgusting so had to go out and buy cleaning items. No surfaces in living room, bedroom have been dusted in weeks in fact this place wants a deep clean especially in corners of rooms where dirt and debris collected. In the bedroom there was a disgusting damp stained dog bed which needs to go in bin. Cobwebs with spiders in all rooms and very musky damp smell about the place. A lovely welcome pack of wine, cheese, butter, bread and milk was left but I think that money would have been better spent on starter pack of 1 loo roll as there was none, cleaning clothes and wash liquid. There isn't even a frying pan or oven trays to cook anything on. There was a roasting tray so we did everything on that. This apartment is situated in a lovely place and great for town and beach and accessible to great North wales days out. Also why is the apartment above have its doorbell connected to this apartment....very annoying and loud. We spent 3 days speaking and emailing photos to sykes who did absolutely nothing except contact owners who offered a reclean which I refused as we didn't want anyone in there with all our possessions and this should be clean b4 we got there. Owners said no compensation which we never asked for anyway. We won't be back. Very disappointed with lack of care from owners and sykes.

DAMP , HOLIDAY CUT SHORT , WET FlOORS ,NOT HAPPY, OWNERS AWARE.

I arrived at the old boat store with my partner and three young children, upon arriving the apartment is well presented and clean (freshly painted ) location is good THE BAD POINTS After our first night as the fresh paint smell began to wear off we could smell damp and my childrens pjs under there pillow where damp along witg the master bedroom floor and bottom Of the walls , the floor in my bedroom is soaking wet out clothes that had not been worn had to be washed as they all had a horrible smell , there is a manual dehumidifier tray under the bed that was full so the owners are fully aware that they have a damp issue , I actually have years experience In the buiding trade and this in my opinion is due to poor ventilation and possible the floors not being insulated or removed when the garages was converted and the windows not having vents in ? So unfortunately we had had to book a hotel for the next two nights and cut it short at the boat store , not very good at all especially with very young children who where not sleeping well and who are all full of cold now …………. Would defiantly never go back and please Be aware this is a genuinely honest and straight forward review and no one can expect someone to stay in a damp holiday home there’s no excuses it’s disgusting they need to address the problem which can be resolved with the correct builder and it definitely needs doing asap no good keep painting over the cracks

Lovely place, everything you need for a short or longer break.

Nice welcome pack. Well equipped but an iron and and a hairdryer would be great to add. Fantastic well maintained patio and a garden. Few downsides. As apart of a bigger property we had the ground floor and further two floors were occupied by other people. You could hear every noise especially the little boy running up and down from 7:30 every morning. Not ideal if you come to catch up with a sleep. The parking space on the back where our entrance was I thought was just for us, but our neighbours had two cars so they parked one on the front and the other in our space. That was causing problem getting to and from the car as the space wasn't quite big enough for two cars. Confusion with the waste collection. The rubbish has been cancelled every three weeks. We didn't know if that was the right week. The bin was full. We took it down the hill to the main road (quite a journey) just to find out that the general wast was collected last week, so we had to bring the full bin back. Visitors should be given the exact dates when the collection is actually happening. Overall our dogs and we had a lovely time.

Overall a TERRIFIC apartment and a great stay !

!! the view and location are brilliant and the apartment is extremely well kitted out and was spotlessly clean and tidy some "constructive comments" if I may...... the bedroom windows need black out blinds on all plus the stable door to the balcony......essentially we woke up at dawn each day and struggled to get back to sleep as the room was so light blackout blinds have been put on two of the bedroom windows ...which was absolutley needed as there is a street lamp literally outside the window....but the front window and stable door could do with blackout blinds being fitted also, we were unable to open any of the bedroom or kitchen windows....i appreciate the fact that safety is a consideration but the apartment is essentially aimed at adults WITH A BALCONY so how dangerous can it be to supply the window key to the bedroom window and the kitchen window we were also disappointed that the Jacuzzi wasn't working as that was one of the reasons we booked the apartment....but only a small point As I said overall it is excellent and we had a great stay
