"The Gin Gang was situated perfectly for exploring the lovely area. The building looked fabulous but was very difficult to get into with a step up of over 12 inches.Once inside, again it looked lovely but turned out to be extremely impractical. The table top cooker had two hot plates just inches below a cupboard above not allowing the lid to go on the only saucepan. The kitchen towel had a large hole in it and I wouldn't have left it in the cottage if I was the owner. The furniture layout meant you couldn't watch television without getting a crick in the neck. It needed a lot more thought for comfort and practical useage. The bedroom was beautiful after going up three steps but due to furniture choice there was only a gap of about 10 to 12 inches to get between the bed and a wardrobe to access the bathroom.Outside there was a table and seating but was in a poor condition to make a good impression. For us it was very disappointing for the money. We are very sorry to have to give this type of feed back. We are not people to find fault but it is such that we could n't recommend it to others."

"We're sure this would be a lovely apartment for a lot of people. We found all the rooms to be much smaller than they appeared on the website. Getting out of the left side of the bed was a really tight squeeze! The bed was lovely and comfortable but the sofa and dining chairs were quite lumpy and hard. There was nowhere to store any food other than the fridge and freezer. It was obviously more suited to people who like to eat out. If you like to be in the centre of things with resatuarants, pubs and shops on your doorstep, this is the place to be. As the apartment is at the front of the building and has the original windows, it is a very noisy place and we were frequently woken up through the night by loud cars and noisy people in the street below. One night a group of lads were kicking dustbins right outside and shouting for about 10 minutes at 3.30 in the morning. Cameron was a nice chap but didn't bother to fix the broken window in the lounge as promised - luckily it was only the first night that it was cold."

"Fantastic apartment in a great location. The apartment was immaculately clean and decorated to a very high standard. There are lovely views onto Hexham Abbey which was all lit up at night and the sound of the Abbey bells was lovely. The gardens are beautiful and the apartment was so peaceful and quiet. I was greeted and shown around the apartment and there was a lovely welcome pack of fresh fruit , milk ,a newspaper and chocolates. There was coffee, tea, biscuits too to get you started. Parking was easy in the grounds of Hexham Abbey just 2 minutes walk away and a free permit was provided. This has got to be one, if not the best holiday apartment I have stayed at. I will definitely be booking again as it was perfect in every way and great value for money. It's in a great location for anyone visiting Northumberland and the train station is only 10 minutes walk away. I would highly recommend this property you will not be disappointed."

"The house is really well equipped and very comfortable. The open fire was well used as temperatures dipped during our week but we were lucky to have a few clear skies. The owner had set up a telescope in the lounge - very thoughtful as I'd told him I was interested in the dark skies experienced up there. A good local pub which welcomes dogs is a bonus. My only negative would be the single, separate toilet with no hand washing facility if someone else is using the house bathroom. We were only a group of four but if there had been six of us, I think there may have been a bigger issue. Having said that, I would be very happy to stay there again, in a small group, it's a great place. The neighbours are very friendly and came to offer us candles when we had a short power cut (which we were assured was a rare event). I'd definitely recommend to others."

"However, it was, in fact surrounded by other properties, some actually overlooking the house. Don't get me wrong, the area was a quiet one, and the people we met there were lovely; it was, though, not what we were looking for. If we had been made aware that the house was in such a situation we would not have booked it. The house itself was first class. It was beautifully decorated, very well equipped and had a lovely garden. The owner, Paul, was a very polite and attentive host, without actually bothering us. It is, in fact, probably the nicest property that we've stayed in. We did have a nice time, however, were initially disappointed with the location, and felt that we had been misled. Also, although the house is dog friendly, they are not allowed upstairs."
