"Beautiful cottage which is exceptionally well equipped. Very peaceful setting in a very small hamlet of about 12 properties. Nearest shop is 2.5 miles away in Marfen although was closed while we were there. Don’t expect food shops on your doorstep so plan for at least your 1st evening and breakfast. Next nearest was Corbridge which has little Co-op but some lovely little shops too. For major food shopping Hexham is great with big Tesco, plus Aldi and Waitrose. Lots of other lovely shops too. Beautiful countryside all around cottage with amazing walking to be done. Lovely welcome from owners Michelle and Rob with unexpected fresh baked loaf, lovely jam and few other extras. Please be mindful that satnav May try to send you down tracks and dead ends. Mine is only 2 years old and didn’t recognise the dead ends and kept trying to send me down them. Was approx 3.5 mile journey down single track which is undulating with a few passing points. Was lovely but suspect treacherous in winter. We had fun when the farmer didn’t lock the gate properly one time and 4 cows and a bull escaped and led us down the last of the track down to the A road where they kindly stopped the traffic for us! There are other routes once you find your way around but if relying on satnav may be an issue for some. Cottage is by far the nicest we have stayed in by far and would highly recommend and would be happy to return."

"This cottage really is in a fanstatic location with amazing views and a well thought out lay out.If you are taking a dog with you then you'll find well marked footpaths and lovely routes. The cottage itself is pretty well kitted out (but a pair of oven gloves would be useful). We did buy bottled water as the supply tasted very chlorinated but that can't be held against the property. The garden is secure and you can bolt the gate from the inside. There is a raised patio area which is not fenced. The beds were comfortable with lovely white linen and the upstairs bedroom has a wonderful view and an en suite bathroom/ shower room. Both showers were really powerful and a joy to use.The property could do with some general maintenance and some areas needed to be given a deep clean but it is mid season and change over time is often too quick for doing those time consuming tasks. The parking is in the pub car park next door to the property. The pub itself is clearly popular and the menu was pretty extensive. There are polite and helpful staff working there.Over all I think you would have to go a long way to find a better property.Near by Hexham has a Waitrose, Tesco, either Lidl or Aldi and a small Co op with plenty of other shops in the centre.Any negative points I have raised are far out weighed by the positive points and are purely observations as we would happily holiday there again."

"The Gin Gang was situated perfectly for exploring the lovely area. The building looked fabulous but was very difficult to get into with a step up of over 12 inches.Once inside, again it looked lovely but turned out to be extremely impractical. The table top cooker had two hot plates just inches below a cupboard above not allowing the lid to go on the only saucepan. The kitchen towel had a large hole in it and I wouldn't have left it in the cottage if I was the owner. The furniture layout meant you couldn't watch television without getting a crick in the neck. It needed a lot more thought for comfort and practical useage. The bedroom was beautiful after going up three steps but due to furniture choice there was only a gap of about 10 to 12 inches to get between the bed and a wardrobe to access the bathroom.Outside there was a table and seating but was in a poor condition to make a good impression. For us it was very disappointing for the money. We are very sorry to have to give this type of feed back. We are not people to find fault but it is such that we could n't recommend it to others."

"My family and I spent a week in a cabin for the first time in our lives. We were celerbrating my grandaughters 21st birthday. We have had breathtaking views. Good walks. The owner Helen and Rachael were great always there when we needed them but also leaving us to holiday. Max our GSD was well at home in the fresh air and with plenty of walks around us but also peace and tranquility You can't believe the stunning views until you see them. The cabin was very cosy. The hot tub was to love all day long and evenings as well. It was good to have a barbeque and a bottle or 2 of wine and not be limmeted to one drink whilst having to drive. The kings head in Allendale is dog freindly and their garlic mushrooms are to die for infact all their food is. The owners are very friendly. We will be back. This holiday will extend into years to come and will be never ending it doesn't matter how many times we come to Catton. Northumberland."

"I loved staying at Quince Cottage, the flat is a great size and layout for a couple as it's nice and cosy but there's enough space to leave suitcases and to also do your own thing if you need to. Both bed and living room were comfortable, and the shower was great, I also liked the decor and the place was clean. We appreciated the DVDs that were in the living room, as well as the extra information in the welcome folder (There were several walk routes which I was I'd had time to try!) and it was very easy to check in and check out as it was just a key in a key safe. The only thing I didn't like was the noise from what was either the pipes or a neighbouring cottage, it wasn't excessive and not something I noticed in the day but it gave me a fright when I was in bed at night as it sounded like knocking on the door! Overall I really enjoyed my stay, and enjoyed the area and would stay at Quince Cottage again and for longer!"
