"We have stayed in nearly 20 cottages in the UK from Northumberland to Dorset. Without doubt the one in the most attractive & enjoyable setting is S41686 in Worcestershire near Tenbury Wells.S41686 is a three-bedroomed cottage surrounded by 7 acres of grounds. Occupants have free access to all that space including play areas, woodland, pond, tree house, a "bothy" (farm labourer's hut) and hammocks. There are four or five outdoor seating areas and a barbecue. There is a quirky, highly personal feel to the surroundings reflecting the labour of love that the property obviously is.Indoors, on the ground floor, the cottage features a well-equipped kitchen (including an Aga), six- seater dining area, a very comfortable living room and a comfortable double bedroom. There is a bathroom including a bath and separate shower. Upstairs there is a double bedroom, twin room and (tiny) toilet. Each room continues the individualistic theme of the entire site.S41686 cottage housed 5 people (and a terrier!) very comfortably and warmly. We were welcomed personally by the owner Eleanor with a smile and a welcome hamper including a delicious home-made cake. But the real emphasis-and the reason I would unhesitatingly recommend S41686, is the beautiful surroundings . Long Cottage is almost half a mile off any road. It is very isolated and commands a panoramic view of the beautiful local countryside. If you want hustle & bustle I suggest you look elsewhere! You are however within twenty-odd miles of Hereford, Worcester, Hay-on-Wye, Leominster and Ludlow. Tenbury Wells and Eastnor Castle are much nearer. Our party included two teenagers and within 15 miles drive we were able to take them to West Midlands Safari Park and the Time Machine Museum in nearby Bromyard. The ground floor bedroom was ideal for the 87 year old in the party. We were not blessed with good weather or we would have undoubtedly spent more time in the grounds. To prove how much we liked the place, we have already booked a return visit- less that a week after leaving! Do yourselves a favour- visit S41686 before it gets too famous. You won't regret it!"

"This was a beautiful house with all the usual quality that you expect from RR. However, I think there were a couple of things that could have been clearer in the property description: the gardens/grounds are shared with the owners who are right next door and they have children who play ball games and run around. We had no problem with this but some people might have wanted something more peaceful. Secondly, the upstairs toilet is really tiny and a man can't really use it without contorting himself. Even I had to 'fold myself' into it! The bedrooms upstairs have very sloping ceilings, making them also quite uncomfortable for tall people. We were only four people from the same family but I think six would have been a bit cramped given the bathroom facilities. The owner was very friendly and greeted us with cake. The terrace is great for barbecues and the views are truly spectacular though so we had a good time."

"Negatives:We felt the garden wasn't that suitable for little kids (4 & 2) as there was a degree of "junk" left out (wood with nails sticking out; tools not in shed) and the grass was in sore need of a cut. Which was a bit of a shame as the garden was a large selling point for us. There are elements of tiredness about the house, likely rectified with a quick coat of paint and screwdriver. BBQ rusty and in our opinion, to suitable to cook on.Also, DVD didn't work - potential for user error here but equally, wasn't expecting to have to fiddle about with wires and leads as feel it should be plugged in from the off.Positives:Rooms very nicely kitted out, good size and beautifully furnished. The extension is a thing of beauty; very clever design and really brings the garden indoors."

"We were three friends who spent a long weekend in this lovely house. Communication with Nick and Helen was great and they answered quickly to text messages. The house was lovely and warm and clean. The living kitchen is great for a social gathering where you can cook and chat and watch TV . The three bedrooms were just right for us and there was plenty of hot water in the bathroom. The bedding was good quality and the beds comfortable. The house is situated on the main road so there is some traffic noise at the front. We walked into Shrewsbury during the day which took 30 mins but we took taxis in the evening which were £5 each way. I would definitely stay again in this house."

"A high spec cottage. Very comfortable- both modern and cosy. We booked this in the off-peak week before xmas. It felt good value for money but not sure i would pay the peak prices. It's on a relatively busy shrewsbury road that leads into town (about 1 mile to the welsh bridge and quarry areas). Being on the road wasn't a problem for us because we used it as a base to visit family. But i would have been disappointed with the location had it been a main holiday and i was looking for more tranquility or 'classic Shrewsbury'. That said, the garden looked great and i imagine it would be lovely in summer."
