"We (two adults, two children of 12 and 14 years) were warmly welcomed by the owners who live right next door! They have explained everything important to the functions of the devices in the apartment and also us. informed about shopping and good restaurants nearby. They were always very friendly and helpful, if you have any questions about the environment. The apartment is comfortably furnished and attractively designed. Crockery and cutlery are available in sufficient quantity for four people. Especially beautiful and quaint are the well-preserved historic stone walls made of flint! The property is a great starting point for all kinds of activities - be it to the beaches in the area (especially beautiful Joss Bay but also Minnis Bay in Birchington itself - there you can eat well with very nice sea view!) Or the numerous historical sites and Places in Kent (Canterbury, Sandwich, Leeds Castle ... etc). London could also be reached by train from Birchington Station in two hours (driving during the week AFTER 800 AM, which significantly reduces costs!)! When traveling by car, however, you always have more time than expected or as the Navi indicates - the roads are sometimes so narrow that two cars do not pass each other or in such a happy state (comparable to dirt roads in Germany) ). The beautiful Quex Park with the Quex House and the Powell-Cotton Museum is within walking distance of the apartment (about 900 m). Our children and we were very excited about this great and varied holiday and will be back!"

"When we arrived at the premises S57587, it was blowing a gale and raining. However when we entered the premises there were electric storage heaters installed, but they we not switched on. The only other heating was an electric convector heater on the wall in the bedroom! Also, there was only a thin summer quilt on the double bed, and no additional bedding in the premises. When the owner arrived at 6:00PM, she stated that we could not use the storage heaters as they used too much electricity! Instead she offered a small oil filled electric radiator, and a winter quilt for the bed! We then found that there were no instructions for the bath shower, and the plug in the bathroom since did not hold the water in. As a result, we had to wash in the kitchen sink! The toilet seat was loose, and when you flushed the toilet it flushed twice by itself. There were no coat hangers in the wardrobe, so coats and shirts could only be hung on the back of the front door at the bottom of the stairs. The kitchen equipment was basic, with only essential utensils, the light over the cooker did not work, and was replaced by a battery light, but the batteries were dead! Need I say anymore! As a result of the cold accommodation, and the other points above, we have left the premises this morning. From the initial response by the owner I did not bother to raise these points with her."

"Warm welcome and cottage very quiet, with pleasant surroundings. Very comfortable and well equipped, but marked down a bit due to poor lighting in kitchen and living area. Ok for just sitting watching TV in the evening, but found it too dark to read easily, and just too gloomy in kitchen area - couldn't see microwave buttons at all without the aid of the emergency torch! Would be helpful for directions to say that the "2nd turning after the church" is about a mile outside the village - we drove up and down a couple of times thinking we'd missed it! Would stay again, as well positioned for many tourist attractions and cottage was lovely, apart from the lighting."

"It was a super well equipped and cozy cottage that is lovely and quiet, the perfect place for a quiet getaway. The pub over the bridge and across the road served wonderful food and, I thought, good value. The views across the fields up to the castle were magnificent. Although it would be handy to be able to walk to the shops I loved that there was nothing close by, except the pub! The torch to get there was very helpful. If you want somewhere to stay in beautiful surroundings, quiet but within 30 minutes of castles and 5 of a beach then this is the place to be."

"The views over the Rother Valley are beautiful and the oast is close to Rye and other places of interest as well as lovely countryside. It's a bit of a step to walk to the village pub. The oast itself has a very well-equipped kitchen, a big dining room and a comfortable lounge. We were 8 adults and had loads of space. The games room has bar billiards, table top football and a pool table. The garden is ok - nothing special - but there is a nice outside patio area with lovely views and a gas BBQ which looked practically new. We had a great time !"
