"It is with great dismay that we feel that we cannot recommend the property, this is due to the fact that as the property is marketed as a pet friendly but due to an infestation of flying ants ( which had clearly been present for quite some time - we know this because we are familar with the lifecycle of flying ants ) the owners of the property had been putting down Ant powder and ant traps and told us that they had only just been discovered even though there was a vacuum cleaner with a bag that had a considerable amount of Flying ants inside. They did not corden off the area around the fireplace knowing full well we were bringing two dogs with us, we were just informed to vacuum the Ants up and return the vacuum cleaner to the cupboard upstairs when we had finished it. However, the vacuum cleaner remained with us during our stay because the infestation continued, in the well of the fireplace was a bottle of Ant and crawling pest powder which was considerably older than the few days we were told the Ants had been in the house and not at anytime did the owners stay in touch with us to ask if there was still an issue. As we were out most days the first thing we had to do on return to the cottage was to vacuum up all the dead or nearly dead and alive Ants which continued throughout the evening every evening. There was also ant powder sprayed on the outside of the property around the gas supply pipe to the cottage which was obviously just one point of entry. It was difficult to allow the dogs the run of the bottom floor of the cottage freely because of the danger of the ant powder. The evening we arrived we had to clear up faeces from the top of the field by the cottage before we were able to allow our dogs out. We feel that these issues should have been dealt with before we arrived and it is not something to find or have to deal with when we pay for rental of a holiday cottage ( the owners clean the cottage so they would of been aware of the problem ). This is why our review is a mixed bag and it is a shame as the rest of the property and holiday was very good."

"The lodge is beautiful - thick cream carpets, smart white leather sofas and a high quality kitchen. The main open plan area combines living space, dining room and kitchen. It really is stunning. There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a walk in wardrobe and on-suite with a relatively large shower. The second bedroom has two single beds. There is a second bathroom with a bath and shower. We spent most of our time of the decking area; the sunsets are amazing. If I was being really picky, there are some things which could be improved:1) The cleaning wasn't the best. We found a lot of cobwebs (sometimes with large spiders) around the coving. Everything else was spotless.2) The technology is a little dated. The TVs don't allow you to mirror content from your phones. There is a integrated sound system built into the lodge which must have cost a fortune back in the day. However, we couldn't get the tv sound to play through the system and the only other source input requires and iPod (which I doubt many people still use)3) The door which hides the DVD player and cables was held up by gaffer tape, which is a little out of step with the overall high quality finish.4) There is no BBQ. We had lovely weather and would have like to have a lot of BBQs. We only had one as we had to resort to disposables.5) The free Wi-Fi is painfully slow so don't expect to be streaming Netflix shows. You can pay for a "faster" connection; we didn't, but I still think you may struggle to stream HD content. The mobile phone reception was variable between our different providers. But don't let these minor quibbles put you off. We loved this lodge and would definitely stay again. We all wish we were back there!"

"The accommodation was in a beautiful location, quite, serene and had everything we wanted apart from Wi-Fi which was advertised (a little bit difficult as it was booked as a base to work from in the evenings). The negatives...... no welcome pack to guide you round the property, i.e how the heating worked, any helpful tips around where to put rubbish once the bin was full, etc, etc. Having stayed at many other hosted/managed properties, this is a must, even if its basic. The host was only interested in the fact that we had left an outside light on twice....no welcome greeting, no "hows is everything?", just two rude 'knocks on the door' to complain to us about a very small subdued light which we left on for too long (by accident as there were a lot of light switches) outside the front & back door in a dark rural location!. The manor in which this was addressed was out and out rude and made my daughter very uncomfortable. Frankly, it spoilt the experience.Such a shame as everything else was spot on.I would recommend the property but not the owner."

"The Country Lodge Four Platinum that we stayed in was next to the Green, so it was pleasant having open space in front of us. The lodge was nicely finished and warm and clean and the kitchen had lots of equipment (but not so much space to store food!). Clean white towels were provided so no need to bring any. There was a washing machine (and drying rack) and dishwasher (although we didn't use this as there wasn't enough crockery for more than one meal). I wouldn't recommend the lodge or park for very young children. The coffee table had a glass top to it that our youngest banged his head on, and the blinds all had loops hanging down which are a hazard (there were no anti-strangle devices fitted). The swimming pool was also too deep for children that aren't competent swimmers, but probably therefore better for adults (there were some adult only morning sessions). The WIFI was adequate for our needs and there was the option to pay for a higher speed. The staff were friendly and helpful."

"We had a fantastic family holiday at Cedar House this July. Great atmosphere, beautiful garden and the tennis court, pool table and swimming pool were a big plus for all. There were pleasant gatherings on the terrace having breakfast or late afternoon tea and memorable moments playing games in the sitting room and listening to one of us playing the grand piano. What a pity that the state of the house and its content are gradually deteriorating. The cracked toilet seats, an upstairs toilet that didn’t flush, broken garden furniture, only six (mostly chipped) tea mugs and kitchen panels that kept falling down didn’t worry us because of the charm of the house, but made us wonder why not a little more money could be spent in order to fix such simple things.Having said this, we would most definitely recommend Cedar House because of its cosiness, its ’Brtishness’ and its suitability for memorabele family events."
