"Cobble Rigg was a lovely welcoming home, beautifully clean, well equipped and clearly intended to provide quality accommodation. Very spacious with beautiful views of Blencathra mountain to the rear and range of hills to the front. A mere 150 yards walk down to the local pub which has plenty of room for inside and outside eating/drinking. Food was very good. With various walks on your doorstep up and around Blencathra, there is no need to take the car out everyday. But Derwent, Ullswater, Crummock, Grasmere and many more are within 20 to 30 minutes drive. No village shop but very easy drive into Keswick (10 minutes) for a Booth supermarket or a coop. Sainsbury's did an on line delivery service and easily managed to get the van down the narrow track leading to the cottage. Good idea to stock up and save your time for the hills and the lakes. Thank you to the owners who have provided a lovely holiday location; peaceful, very comfortable, and the best sleep ever."

"A wonderful house with fabulous views across to High Knott even in the diabolical weather! Sadly we couldn’t use the hot tub due to weather and would have been grateful for a few indoor games! The local Horse and Farrier does an amazing Sunday lunch but make sure you book as very busy.As someone with mobility problems the steps down to the front door were a problem, a hand rail might spoil look or maybe a ramp to one side might even make house wheelchair friendly? One place that I cannot recommend more highly is Cocklakes farm shop on the A66 toward Penrith! Fabulous breakfast/lunches and if you can’t be bothered to cook their pies are excellent!I would tell my friends what a fabulous house this is and hope they hVe better weather!"

"Probably the best equipped holiday cottage we have stayed in, particularly the kitchen and little details like hand wash, tissues, extra towels, clingfilm, washing up liquid, etc. Generally very comfortable. I did struggle with the lighting and lack of a shelf near the mirror when applying make-up in the double bedroom, and again with the lighting levels in the shower room. Plenty of radiators on which to dry wet towels, something which has been lacking in other holiday homes. It would have been really nice to have some coat hooks in the hall but the boot trays were really useful. We ate at The Horse and Farrier three times in a week! Excellent food and service, and only a few minutes walk down a surfaced footpath."

"Lovely very rural cottage we had 10 staying, 3 generations. Walks from the cottage aren’t ideal with children, so we drove out to most places. Kitchen and lounge space was ideal for a large party, kitchen could do with a double oven as cooking Christmas for 10 was a challenge . Family room was a good size but the two doubles/twin were quite small and limited storage in the double room (no wardrobe) The views are lovely especially early morning from the garden room. Bathrooms were furnished very well, our only problem was lack of hot water (have to turn pressure right down to keep it warm and space out when everyone was showering or bathing the children)"

"Very convenient for Keswick, Borrowdale and Ullswater. We were pleased it is so well insulated that you can't hear the A66. Very warm with plenty of hot water and comfy beds. Parking is a bit tricky as there is not always room for a 3 point turn depending on neighbour's cars. View rather compromised by neighbour's eccentric clutter! The children loved the chickens and the den attic area. Could have done with more than one bin bag and more dishwasher tablets. One bedside lamp in main bedroom appeared to be broken and there were no power cables for the dvd player or reclinable sofas. Fantastic pub in Scales. Overall a good place to stay."
