"This is a old farmhouse cottage in beautiful surroundings. My main concerns were that there were not instructions regarding the central heating . When we contacted the owner we could only leave a message, then you had to wait for them to contact us. It was very cold and temperatures had dropped rapidly the week we stayed. We had my mam of 80 years and my granddaughter with us who .were extremely cold . There was a log burner which we did manage to light eventually, but with one match in a box left and hardly any logs or papers. We were told by the owner that it was oil that worked the central heating and there wouldn't be any left but a delivery was due at the end of the week. We went out and bought logs etc for the fire and my son eventually managed to access the boiler and managed to reset it at which point it did come on. I have never been any where before with such little information given and have had to buy fuel to warm the accommodation. We do live in England and should expect any thing from our weather. Also my son was unable to sleep in his double bed as it was so uncomfortable. Brilliant place for walking and for dogs."

"The accommodation was exactly what we were looking for with close proximity to local amenities but secluded enough to be tranquil and peaceful. The accommodation itself was spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly require. The owners were especially friendly and helpful and the dog enclosure/agility park was perfect - a little small but good enough as we have three Golden Retrievers. Access to the cottage was good with the written directions taking us straight to the place. Local and not so local literature within the cottage was very good and gave us all the information we required. Overall it was perfect for our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Luckily the weather was ideal with no rain only clear sunny skies. The only one concern which did not adversely affect ourselves was the cow byer next door and the noise on some mornings from the cows. The one thing you will definitely require is fly spray, as the Lake District is renowned for its midgies which were a pest everywhere we went. Overall I can highly recommend the cottage, the owners and the area. Sept 2012."

"We loved our holiday at The Fauld, however it was very secluded and depending on where you wanted to go it could take anything between 30-40minutes car drive. It is worth mentioning that it’s best if you bring the essentials with you, bread, milk and other food items. Bottled water is a must as the The Fauld’s water source comes from a local spring which isn’t filtered or purified. The fault is modern and comfortable and has a real homely feel. The hot tub is an added bonus and adds to the relaxation of being in the middle of nowhere on a working farm with nature. We didn’t get much of a mobile phone signal or internet signal, so if you prefer to be glued to your mobile phone The Fauld isn’t for you. We had a little difficulty find The Fauld but a quick call or two to Jane quickly rectified that. We would definitely come back, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but towards the end we missed civilisation."

"First time visiting Cumbria and the location was ideal. New sofas which were brilliant and a new bed. Tea, coffee and sugar also available but no milk!! Maybe the little catering milk cartons would be a welcome addition as we had intentions of taking milk but forgot it. Few little niggles such as no instructions on how to use the dishwasher, cooker and hot tub which we got around by asking the owner about the hot tub. Also parking permits no explanation on how they operate which we found out was a disc parking pass for visiting Brampton. A few instructions on how to use these kind of things would be great. The biggest problem we found was the bed. The mattress had no support and you could feel every spring and when you moved the whole bed moved which resulted in disturbed sleep. Maybe a mattress topper would solve this problem a bit. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would visit again"

"We really enjoyed this after a stressful year. The location was stunning and absolutely perfect and private! The cottage was gorgeous with everything that could be needed and the icing was the hot tub which was enjoyed au naturel lots of times! It was beautifully situated just outside the back door and easy to enjoy any hour of the day or night. The location is great for Hadrian's Wall which was a nostalgic return after 15 years and very special for me after completing an MA in Classical Studies. We also incursioned into the Lake District and Scotland. Back to the cottage there is everything you could want (perhaps an extra tea towel or two would be useful) and the decor was lovely and tasteful. I recommend taking extra towels for the hot tub. We shall, all being well definitely be returning. It's a gorgeous little bolthole. Ideal for two who want to get away into stunning countryside."
