"We had a lovely winter holiday in this cottage, which is well-equipped, comfortable and warm (one reason for choosing it was somone else's past review mentioning what a warm cottage it was - they were right - it's great - and often this is not the case with holiday cottages). The pictures don't really do it justice - there is a good porch with coat hooks, shoe/boot rack and a huge selection of tourist information leaflets; this opens into a fairly wide tiled hall / passageway which makes the cottage more spacious than it seems from the pictures. It's very cottagey and homely with a lot of art and ornaments to look at when the cloud comes down and you can't see the lovely views outside. The wifi worked without any fuss (not always the case) and there is an ice-box style freezer compartment within the fridge which I am sure would have been worth mentioning in the description and a useful combi washer/drier as well. The kitchen has everything you could need and is quite spacious too. The cottage is well-located for many excellent walks; the enclosed side garden was useful for the dog and I'm sure it is pretty too in the right season. The owner is right next door but her house is the other side of the big barn, so the cottage feels secluded and it is a beautiful and peaceful spot. I'd consider it again for a winter break."

"Had a great week at the cottage, shame the weather wasn't better but watching the rise and fall of the river was a nice distraction. The location is awesome. Lots of morning tea was drank next to the river or in the conservatory (on wet days). This is one of the bigger gardens we've had at a cottage and it was well maintained and a pleasure to sit in.The cottage itself is well equipped. We had one problem with a radiator leaking on the 2nd day but managed to sort it out after a call from the caretaker. There's barely any phone signal in the area so in an emergency you need a working landline and unfortunately it seemed to only allow incoming calls. Hopefully they sort it out for future tenants.Only other grumble was the kitchen which has everything you might need but is badly designed. It's a long, thin room with a big table in the middle so you can't have people sat there while you're preparing food. Making tea became a team effort as the kettle and water were at one end of the room and the milk was in the fridge at the other! The tap water at the cottage had a strange taste to it as well so we ended up buying bottled water for the week. No big hassle but something to keep in mind if you're staying here."

"We were disappointed with this cottage, the best points were the location and the walks for the dogs. The cottage needs a lot of TLC , The garden is a joke you go out to it using a small door at the top of the stairs * be careful not to bang your head on the door * there is a very small decking area and a steep unsafe stairway leading to a seating area? We slept in the bedroom at the back of the cottage the bed is supported with wood underneath which made it uncomfortable and creaks every time you move, the window has a gap at the top which wouldn't close. Both drains in the bathrooms are blocked the shower tray filled with water so we took the drain filter out aargh filthy. worktops in the kitchen stained and burnt, the grate in the living fire broken and both sofas were like you sitting on the floor. The gate at the front? well there is one not very safe if for children and dogs. we paid extra for towels and bedding ( only used one bed ) there was a note asking us to strip the beds what a cheek. We booked at a reduced price thank goodness."

"There were a few issues with the cottage that had been noted in the guest book by other clients but don't know whether they've been reported - the dishwasher does not work , there is no hot water to the sink in the downstairs bathroom , there are numerous video tapes for children to watch but the video recorder does not work - we tried to watch a DVD but after about 20 minutes the DVD player stopped working - we found this frustrating as we took 2 children aged 7 and 4 years and they were unable to watch a DVD . There are a few gaps in the kitchen floor and there is evidence of mouse droppings in the cupboard - we also saw a mouse in the kitchen on our first night . A few of the light bulbs in the kitchen need replacing and the carbon monoxide monitor on the landing buzzed all night so we had to remove the battery . We feel that given amount paid for the cottage these problems need addressing ."

"Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Perfect for walks and great village atmosphere especially on New Years Eve. Cottage quite basic - limited equipment for 8 people. Cottage quite small for 4 adults and 4 teenagers although lovely big living room with great fire (and log burner in the kitchen area) however the location made up for cottage size!!! A few personal touches would have been nice especially as we were visiting over New Year in previous cottages we have been left tea milk bubbly and local cakes!! Wasn’t particularly dog friendly as the gate was broken at the front of the property and this led onto a main road, garden not suitable for a dog and it’s difficult to keep dog from upstairs as it’s quite open plan. Also wood left for one day was only just enough for one fire we would have been happy to pay for more wood as had to drive around looking for somewhere that sold wood"
