We stayed at Sandy House for a week from 3-10 August.

We are a family of 5 with 3 under 5, and Maggie the dog. Sandy House is on a small cul-de-sac off a quiet road which means privacy and a minimum of foot and road traffic noises - bliss when you’ve arrived from a town. It also meant that the children could ride their scooters up and down without fear when we were sitting at the front. As soon as we pulled up we were greeted by friendly neighbours on either side, all enjoying the last of the evening’s sunshine. The house was extremely clean, smelled fresh and had everything we needed; Caroline and Quentin had even thought to stock the fridge with the essentials and left a welcome basket of goodies. The living area was large enough to hold our family but not feel like we were on top of each other, helped by the fact that the outdoor area was straight out of the bifold doors. We didn’t use the decking much but with 3 small and active children there wasn’t much chance to sit down anywhere! The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need, again it was all very clean and well look after. We also appreciated the inclusion of smaller sized cutlery and child-friendly crockery. The utility with washing machine and dryer was superb, and well used during the visit. The bunk beds, twin room and double (with en-suite) on the 1st floor were perfect for the family to spread out in. Each beautifully presented, beautifully clean and very welcoming. The enormous family bathroom and landing area was just perfect for bedtime/bathtime routine and the large, fluffy white towels were of good quality and spotless. On the top floor was a further double room with en-suite and the family room, complete with enormous tv, sprawling sofa and a gaming area. We hung out and watched films and listened to the Anglesey weather raging against the windows and even managed a sleep over up there on the last night. Overall we had a thoroughly brilliant time at Sandy House and felt right at home and extremely welcomed. The little touches throughout (the dog bed and bowl, the 1st aid kit/under the sink essentials, the bathrobes, the board games and candles, are just some examples) showed that the owners cared about their home and the environment they were trying to create for their guests during their holiday. I will be recommending Sandy House to my friends and family and on our next visit, we’ll definitely try to book in again. Thank you Caroline and Quentin.

The house is in a great location for Rhosneigr and is plenty big enough for our party of 10.

The kitchen/dining area with snug was where we spent pretty much all of our evenings and is a great set up for dining with friends of an evening. A great communal area. The property looks like it's recently been renovated and having all rooms (except the bunk) as ensuite is brilliant. It was a very comfortable stay and with the beach at the back of the house, the location was just great. The house was perfect for the dog, as it was tiled throughout making it ideal. Th garden was gravelled and fully enclosed also, which makes life easy, although I would say it could be done up a little. Apart from it being handy for the dog, you wouldn't really spend any time out here - but perhaps you don't need to when in Rhosneigr as like I said, the location was absolutely stunning for beach walks, popping into the town or heading to watch the Valley planes taking off. There have been plenty of reviews regarding cleanliness, so I'd like to make a point of saying we didn't experience this at all. The house had been cleaned and that's not a comment I would leave. Perhaps they've made some changes since then - I have no issues with the cleanliness. There are a few problems with the property with the shower door in the attic being broken and there being a clear leak from one of the bathrooms onto the kitchen, which we found impossible to report to Sykes when we arrived, as getting hold of anyone or finding a contact number just impossible. This was only a concern from a point of view of ensuring it was clear these things were done before our arrival. There are also no instructions upon arrival which are always handy regarding where to put the bins, recycling, laundry, wifi code, the local area etc... There are also no 'niceties' that you usually find in property like some bin bags, dishwasher tablets, a bit of tinfoil or oil for cooking... welsh cakes on arrival. Although, it didn't impact the trip. Just be mindful to take everything with you that you would need or you'll be purchasing at the shop. On the whole I would book again for a big group

The positives are that the house is big enough for 9 people and it is near to a path that leads to the beach.

We had a few issues some of which Sykes responded to and menial holiday homes came out to rectify while we were staying. Other issues are :- the outdoor shower is not heated as advertised. There is no family bathroom or bath so please be aware of this and if the people in the bunk bed room need the toilet in the night they would need to go into one of the other bedrooms or go downstairs. The water and ice dispenser on the freezer isn't working and needs an engineer to fix it I see this was reported last year in a review and obviously not fixed. The parking space at the back is very rough ground and piled with weeds and really only suitable for a 4x4 vehicle. The privacy lock on the downstairs toilet cannot work because of wrong fittings in the door frame. The bunk bed room blind needs a safety hook putting on it. There is a washing machine and a clothes line but no washing basket and only 8 clothes pegs. There is also a clothes airer. Sykes houses seem to vary as what is left in the house on arrival, this one had toilet paper, guest soaps, some milk and Bara Brith but very little cleaning materials apart from some anti bacterial spray, no condiments or kitchen roll. We have had better houses through Sykes in other years. There were plenty of tableware and cutlery, lots of knives and 3 meat tenderisers, 2 egg slicers and other things we didn't use but no fish slice or tongs or scales which would have been useful. Some proper up to date instructions in a folder on how to get the smart tv working and some leaflets on what to do in the area would have also been nice. The DVDs left in the tv cabinet were not suitable for children on wet days. It was ok for a week but not really value for money. we had good weather which helped. we wouldn't book this house again especially as the price seems to have almost doubled for 2025. A bit disappointing really but it was only for a week so we made the best of it.

We have just had our second holiday at the cottage this year, and have had a lovely time once again.

The owners cannot be more helpful; they are lovely. The cottage is really quaint and comfy, close to the two beaches (few minutes walk to each) and nice and quiet. The fact that it is on the one level including the bedrooms is a real bonus although you do need to remember that there are a couple of steps from the hallway into the kitchen, fine for us but might not be okay for others. Both beaches and the High Street are only a few minutes walk from the cottage and, an added bonus for anyone who might find walking up an incline a bit difficult, is that you can walk through the Estate to one of the two beaches and to the High Street with its shops, restaurants and takeaways, virtually on the flat all the way! The cottage’s character and outside space was one of the things that sold it to us originally. The garden isn’t overlooked yet you have homes around you so you don’t feel isolated, and it faces the sun for most of the day. Unlike quite a few other cottages/homes for rent in the area, this cottage has kept its original garden, including lots of plants and even has real grass, something we have found lacking in other places we have rented before, which seem to favour bland decking, lots of hard standing and hardly any plants! The garden is also secure so, if like us you have a dog, it’s safe for them as well. We think the cottage is also priced just about right. Other cottages/bungalows in Rhosneigr can be a lot more expensive but, to us, are not half as nice to stop in, don’t have the character this cottage has nor are anywhere near as comfy! Tyddyn Serri is a truly lovely home from home, and we will be back again hopefully. Thank you again.

We had a lovely week in this comfortable house which had everything we needed for our family holiday.

The beds were beautifully clean and comfortable and it was helpful that four of the five bedrooms were fitted with ensuite shower, toilet and wash basin. The kitchen is well equipped and the range cooker is in very good working order and a useful size for a large party. The beach is just a short walk from the house. There are a number of ornaments and decorative fittings which we didn't think were necessary and which we moved to a safe place till the end of the week, but of course this is a matter of personal taste. One ornament, a ceramic model of a cormorant in the top bedroom, was already broken when we arrived and we mentioned this to the agent. We had no problem parking on the road outside the house but the parking space for two cars at the rear of the property mentioned in the listing turned out to be a piece of rough ground littered with junk and, when we first arrived, blocked by an old car with a flat tyre. (This turned out to belong to a neighbour who subsequently moved it). It would be more accurate if the mention of a rear-of-property parking space was removed from the description in the listing. The fridge freezer is a sophisticated model and a good size but the ice dispenser didn't work. The middle window blind in the first floor front double bedroom didn't open. It's worth mentioning that there is no bath, so guests bringing very young children might want to bring a baby bath with them. Perhaps a rotary dryer or washing line would be helpful for drying swimming towels etc outside. Overall a great choice for a family holiday and we would definitely use it again. Thank you.
