What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Chesterman - Verified booking

Green Farm Barn December 2024. Great stay, much enjoyed. Property comfortable, clean and spacious. Wi-Fi excellent. December booking and the Barn was warm enough when thermostat had been located. Bring cleaning products, kitchen roll, shower gel etc. Note the Nespresso machine takes Vertuo capsules (not available to buy locally). Note for dogs owners that the boundary from property to adjacent field is not fenced, but local Covehithe beach is a joy for dogs to run! Read on for caveat re the property letting agency.. Clause 3 of the Booking Ts&Cs enables the Owner/Agent to make changes to your booking. For example I booked and paid my deposit for a 14 day stay over Christmas and New Year. 6 weeks prior to start I received an email from the agency saying that the owner wanted the property for the last 4 days therefore I could only have it for 10 days - or otherwise I could cancel my holiday arrangements and have my deposit returned. Trying to find out an explanation entailed speaking to many different customer representatives as the agency is one of several which I believe have Travel Chapter as the umbrella company. However I had to cut short my holiday and change the arrangements I had made for New Year. Needless to say if you the paying client needs to make any change to the contract then you will pay heavily for it.

First of all I apologise for forgetting to clean up after the dog in the garden.

I have been back today to do it. I feel the cottage is in need of some work to bring it to a suitable standard for holiday rental. There is paint peeling off the wall and damp under the windows at the front. The radiator in the bathroom is in very shabby condition. The sofa is on legs which are not attached to it and having lifted the sofa to retrieve a dog toy we couldn’t fix the legs back and couldn’t use this. The description says ‘two bathrooms’. That is not true and it should be made clear that the bathroom is downstairs and through the kitchen and living areas. It should also be made clear that you cannot just let your dog out for a wee at night because the ‘courtyard’ is across the path and you have to be dressed, have shoes on and have the dog on a lead. Being Christmas we used a lot of the cookware and most of it was grubby. One cooking dish in particular was dirty and had several cracks in it. The Christmas ‘decor’ was very disappointing consisting of a wreath on the door and a tiny tree on the windowsill, both of which seemed very old. The whole place was musty smelling. Orford lovely but the cottage seems as though the owners scrape by doing as little as possible and I think most visitors will be disappointed. I particularly feel the photos are very misleading.

We really appreciated lovely gesture of chocolates and champagne for Christmas - thank you.

Lovely fluffy towels and fresh linen bedding. The property was as described - it is very small, cronky and sweet fisherman’s cottage. The bathroom is tired as per the photo and is on ground floor. It is probably too small for 4 people - we were only 3. Lovely area with The Jolly Sailor nearby for easy friendly evening drinks and food. We felt the owners had tried. There were Christmas decorations. The only criticism was that we did try to clean everything we used in kitchen as pans and utensils generally not clean. I found the teapot in the cupboard still had tea and teabags in it for instance. The kitchen does need some attention in areas around the sink and corner wall. Also in the main bedroom an item of clothing in top drawer- but overall the property was as described. The wood burner was lovely to have and worked very well - easy to control the heat.

Honeysuckle cottage is such a comfortable and cosy, well equipped, dog friendly place to stay. Our Jack Russell terrier loved it, as did we! There was a much appreciated ‘welcome pack of goodies, and a generous basket of logs for the wood burner, great for winter. Clean, well designed and with a thoughtful contemporary feel, the cottage is located in a very interesting Suffolk village that includes a great Pub and an excellent local shop (that is so much more!) For local walks and to exercise the dog, there is also an excellent, extensive public common just a few hundred metres up the road with mown paths, running through hay meadows, a variety of wildlife habitats and ancient woodland. Walk the dog or jog for a mile or two. A great facility ‘on the doorstep!’. All in all, Honeysuckle cottage is thoroughly recommended. We certainly hope to return!!

    • Mrs Evans - Verified booking

The cottage is clean and tidy and is a great bolt hole if you are looking to explore Suffolk. This cottage is a great size for a small family or for a couple who are keen walkers. The ‘nature’ reserve as the back garden is beautiful. It is well equipped for a self catering holiday, and the added air fryer was a welcomed extra. The country pub at the end of the road is award winning for its food and the staff were friendly. The meadow at the end of the road is beautiful for dog walkers or a picnic. The beach at Dunwich village is a 5 minute drive away and the parking fee is by donation. Would suggest beach shoes as the shingle beach was painful for our feet. The cafe at Dunwich beach served good food at reasonable prices.
