What our customers say about their holidays

    • Rupert - Verified booking

Having been regular - one might even say loyal - customers at Durdans for several years now we are sad to find the standard of maintenance leaves more and more to be desired.

Nearly all of the fridge door shelves are now broken, as they have been for at least 2 years, so it is impossible to keep a bottle of milk in the fridge. The Venetian blinds in the en-suite bathroom don’t work and the curtains in the master bedroom need rehanging. The drain outside the kitchen is blocked so the waste water from the sink just flows out onto the drive. None of these are serious deficiencies (although not being able to keep milk in the fridge is seriously annoying!) but they do make Durdans feel rather unloved, and its guests accordingly rather underappreciated . We also arrived to find no tea towels and no oven gloves (we had to go and buy a pair of oven gloves, and fortunately we brought our own tea towels as there are never enough, but to find none at all is really not on). With a heavy heart, I think we may be moving on next year.

The location was fantastic, for both adults and children. A very comfortable and well equipped home with a quaint garden and patio dining area. The house is in an ideal location for walking to Southwold, a stroll on the salt marshes and beach. If you like crab fishing, Walberswick is probably the best spot in the UK, such a lovely spot to enjoy the beach with the kids. There is two great pubs in the village along with tea rooms. The deli and local shop is only a minute walk from the house, so ideal for self catering. We had no need to use our car for the whole week stay. We would book again next time we are visiting the Suffolk Coast. Thank you for a lovely stay.

This cottage is in a lovely, quiet part of Walberswick, and it’s possible to walk to the beach. Good sized accommodation, which is all bright and modern. Lots of kitchen equipment should you want to cook. I would note: the bed in bedroom one is two singles zipped up, not a king size bed and the sofas in the living room are quite low, not that easy to get up from. There’s a lovely big shared garden. We also had use of the parking permit which was very handy. We’d recommend The Tea Shed in the village for breakfast and cakes; and The Bell Inn for a welcoming pub meal. It was our first visit to Walberswick and we’ll be back.

The property has the potential to be a 4 star as published however our party of 6 were extremely disappointed with the overall cleanliness which would reduce our overall rating to 2 star i.

      E. Dead flies under the bread bin , oven not cleaned internally , fridges and freezers not cleaned internally , Dog hairs over soft furnishings in Lounge . Also in particular, the cushions of the sofas in the main lounge either need replacing or at the very least a deep clean as there was an unpleasant 'musty' smell that pervaded the ground floor even after we had aired the property, hoovered everywhere , dusted the hard surfaces and sprayed febreze on the soft furnishings. None of this made for a relaxing holiday !

We loved Walberswick and was very happy with Roof Tree. Roof Tree is a beautiful spacious and bright house in the centre of Walberswick. Two large family rooms offered all the space needed for 8 people and a dog, with good size bedrooms and wet rooms. The kitchen area is very well designed with all the new appliances and the property has a lovely garden and patio. It is perfectly positioned for easy access to the beach and ferry. There are lots of pubs and pretty gift shops as well as a lovely green with a play area.
