    Holiday Cottages in Bakewell

Made most famous for its Bakewell Pudding, this idyllic town has plenty of treats to offer. From relaxing strolls along the banks of the River Wye to exploring the rich history of Chatsworth House, the town of Bakewell is brimming with things to do. The bustling market town is characterised by its picture-postcard mellow stone buildings and quaint courtyards. And it's located in the heart of the Peak District National Park, so it's the perfect base for cycling and hiking enthusiasts too.

Here at Snaptrip, our holiday homes are just as charming as Bakewell in Derbyshire. Choose from quaint properties in the town centre or sweeping holiday rentals in the breathtaking countryside. Whichever Peak District holiday cottage you choose, you'll only ever be a minute's walk from something to do. Look out for properties that offer road parking for a breezy stay, and luxury amenities like swimming pools and hot tubs for an extra special getaway.

There's plenty to explore nearby. Explore the grounds of Haddon Hall or walk the famous Monsal Trail. Grab a bargain at the outdoor market or stroll the town's picturesque streets and scenic buildings. Don't miss a day trip to the sleepy village of Ashford-in-the Water, where you can enjoy a wander around its independent shops, or some afternoon tea at a traditional English tea room.

More locations in the Peak District

Bursting with historic market towns, rolling hills and breathtaking scenery, the Peak District National Park is one of the UK's most visited parks. And with plenty to see and do, there's truly something for everyone to enjoy.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Susan - Verified booking

There are several issues with this property that I would like to point out to you 1.

The property is advertised as having a King sized bed This is not the case The bed was a double bed I would not have booked if this had been the case 2. The property is advertised as having a toilet with sink This is not the case The separate toilet does not have a sink ! This means you have to either wash your hands at the kitchen sink ( not at all hygienic if someone is preparing food as the kitchen sink is next to the cooker / hob ) or climb the 2 small flights of stairs to the bathroom. This meant that we had to use the ensuite bathroom at all times An older person or couple with a young child would find this very inconvenient. 3 The lounge is down a small flight of stairs ( more than a few steps) which are uneven The first step is deeper and takes you unawares There is no warning of this. 4 In the lounge is a dehumidifier which was on. There is a notice on this saying to leave on at all times and for the customer to empty when full. There are several issues this raises a/ should a customer be asked to do this It is an electrical item and also to empty involves carrying up steps from lounge to kitchen sink . b/ It was noisy yet this is the room with the television is / room supposed to be for leisure / reading etc. Not conducive to relaxing on a holiday. c/ Is there an ongoing damp issue in the property ? More general observations. The lounge in general is dark with only a set of glass doors with frosted glass which let little light in so we did not want to use it expect in later evening We had a problem with the heating as it came on at night but not at the times as specified by the owner i.e evening and morning. We did need to go and ask the owner on the first night She put the heating on continuous but that meant the first night the bedroom was like a sauna. By the next morning it was off again. The second evening we didn't want to ask again so it was just colder in the lounge so we wore extra jumpers but then it came on at 10pm so again another hot night in the double ( not king sized ) bed. On the plus side the property is in a really nice location and having dogs the use of the paddock was a real bonus Although next to the road we didn't hear traffic once inside the property . The cottage is well furnished. Sadly overall though we would not visit again as the minus points out weighed the pluses.

      What a wonderful cottage!

The location of the Robin’s Nest is just perfect! Being in the heart of Bakewell was just what we wanted and we couldn’t have been happier. The fact that the cottage is set within the gates of Kings Court not only added a layer of privacy and security, it also made it that bit quieter. Even the bustle of the morning wasn’t audible at the cottage. Absolutely fantastic! The owners, Julie & Rik, have set the cottage up to be very welcoming and comfortable. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise! The cottage had everything we needed for the 2.5 weeks we stayed there. The bedrooms had plenty of space and storage, and we all felt very much at home. Having two bathrooms was really nice as well. While there is a television, we didn’t turn it on at all but instead enjoyed the quiet evenings at the cottage, both in the lounge as well on the patio. The outdoor space, albeit limited, was so nice to enjoy with a glass of wine. The only things I’d note for others is that while we didn’t have any issues at all with finding parking in town with use of the permit (in June), it could be a bit more challenging for anyone with mobility issues. This also applies to the upside down nature of the cottage layout. We loved the private bedroom on the ground level with the rest of the cottage being up the staircase, but it is something to consider should you have mobility issues. We look forward to our next trip to Bakewell and a stay at the Robin’s Nest!! Thank you Julie and Rik!!

The accommodation is in a good situation ‘however one kitchen cupboard had a very strong smell of damp the lounge area had an overpowering odour which impacted on our holiday enjoyment .

A humidifier was operational at all times with a note for us to empty an extractor fan was covered the lounge door had to be closed as the odour would travel to the kitchen area at times we were unable to use the lounge and sat at the kitchen table all evening .We purchased a scented candle to try to reduce the odour this however made no difference .I could not use air fresher due to Asthama The bath had shower attachment but this was impractical to stand and shower due to the angle of the ceiling The day before the departure the owner asked how our week was I did explain we had issues with the odour and she confirmed it had not been mentioned previously but this was highlighted in a previous review May 2017 and prior to booking we thought actions would have been taken .This It what we expected prior to purchasing our holiday and we really did not look forward to returning to the cottage at the end of a day of walking and visit tourist attractions as you could not relax in the lounge area the alternative sitting in the kitchen or bedroom area to have internet access as this was not present in the Lounge.

A good base for exploring the area.

Short walk to the bus stop and a number of walks from the property. The bedroom was lovely and bright with a particularly comfortable chair for sitting reading; a little side table would have been useful, perhaps another similar chair for couples. The weather wasn’t quite warm enough to utilise the the patio but it looked good. I did very little cooking but the kitchen appeared to have everything you would need, although the fridge is quite small. The property has everything one might expect for a comfortable stay and the owners were unobtrusive but helpful. Being able to control the heating was useful as I found I was too warm. The sitting room had an extensive range of books and DVDs so something for bad weather if required. The bottle of wine was appreciated. The information mentions road noise which I did not find to be a problem at all. A smaller table with fewer chairs in the kitchen would be an advantage but that’s not a criticism just a preference.

Wow a little gem !! We enjoyed our weekend reset with our 10year old Staffordshire bull terrier he loved the garden totally enclosed, the hot tub was a delight even during the storm, inside the cottage it was well refurbished to a high standard everything you require. The location was fantastic, two minute walk to Rowsley south station the steam train was amazing 30 minutes to Matlock, if you go on a Sunday afternoon you will enjoy Sunday lunch on the steam train great experience with a well behaved dog. The village itself had one of the best indian restaurants we have been had the pleasure to visit, and your pooch can sit outside on the outdoor tables, last but not least a mile down the road is a fantastic butchers who sell excellent produce. We really enjoyed our stay highly recommend ..
