Part of the Chatsworth Estate, Russian Cottage is the perfect Rural Retreat for those looking for a truly secluded location with some of the most stunning views in the Peak District. Approached via a long private road through bluebell woods, you would be forgiven for thinking you have taken a wrong turn; thoughtfully placed signs encourage you to carry on and lead you to this idyllic location.

Once here you can take in 360 degree views from inside and outside the cottage and its only a 25-minute walk through the stunning park to Chatsworth House and all it has to offer.

Russian Cottage is set out over one floor, ideal for those who prefer to have their accommodation all on one level. Traditional furnishings along with a wood burning stove, ensure this is a cosy bolthole at any time of year.

The well-equipped kitchen and dining room has all you need to create wonderful meals whilst taking in the dramatic views across the Estate.

There is a light and airy double bedroom with a modern en-suite bathroom, as well as a further twin bedroom and a separate bathroom ensuring that all family and friend combinations are catered for.

The Cottage was built following a visit by the 6th Duke of Devonshire to Russia in 1816 when he served as the British Ambassador to the Coronation. A friendship between the Duke and the Tsar was formed and after an exchange visit in 1844 had to be cancelled, the Duke was sent an intricate model of a Russian farmhouse as a reminder and keepsake, from which became the inspiration to build Russian Cottage.

Guests can pre-book a slot for the Chatsworth Health Club, where facilities include use of the gym, swimming pool and tennis court (additional charges apply).

There is a low un-even track leading up to the property, which is unfortunately not suitable for low slung vehicles.

The bedding is non-feather.

A hairdryer is provided in both bedrooms.

A time slot for use of the Health Club is bookable in advance at an additional charge.
