    Simply delightful, this gem of a cottage is located in the popular village of Staveley, just a short drive from Windermere and on the edge of the stunning Kentmere Valley, offering direct access to fabulous walks and cycle routes, whilst the bustling market town of Kendal is easily found just a few miles away.
    Sitting along the River Gowan, Riverside Cottage offers a high level of comfort and facilities in this beautifully presented cottage. With en-suite showers in both double bedrooms in addition to the main bathroom, along with a well-equipped kitchen, the property caters well for guests looking for the benefit of contemporary facilities in a characterful property.
    Staveley village provides visitors with an excellent mix of shops, pubs and even a micro-brewery. The railway station offers the opportunity to leave the car behind altogether, or perhaps to venture a little further afield in this picturesque area.
    A rear yard to Riverside Cottage with outdoor furniture offers a chance to enjoy the last of the days’ sun on warmer evenings. Additionally, the area can be locked from the rear to provide bike storage.

    "Stayed over the New Year. A lovely, cosy little cottage. We felt at home straight away. Great location for walks and local amenities. Loved it.We have already booked to stay again. Next time we will ask for the Christmas tree not to be there as it takes up too much space in the little room."

    "Decent cottage, but lacking in some blinds to the landing and family bathroom, leading to us feeling a little exposed.Also no companion set for the fire- no poker or tongs, so unable to clean fire out properly.Neighbours were noisy, but didn't disturb us too much.I guess parking will be a problem in spring and summer, and the road the cottage is on is busy, as it leads to the station. Saying that, we had a good time, and there is plenty to see and do nearby."

    "Our first impressions were disappointing,the garden was badly in need of some t,l,c, including the removal of an old shopping trolley.The carpets in the lounge badly needed replacing and the sofas needed cleaning..The lighting system was too complicated as was the heating system.The carpet at the bottom of the stairs was fastened on with blutack,would you believe.Upstairs was acceptable apart from glass shelf in main bedroom was loose .Pity about the corner bit on the ceiling.Too expensive for what we got ."

    "Cannot fault our week break stay in Riverside Cottage and surrounding area.The cottage itself was top rate.The downside, as we saw in past reviews was the next door neighbours, very run down property on the gable end.The noise started from 06:30hrs and although we were out all day, on returning the noise went on until late. You could hear everything. They obviously are not considerate as they are permanent residents and will see this as a holiday let.If this was to be a permanent residency, this would need serious addressing.We were glad to get a decent sleep when we returned home.Majority of times we stay in Staveley as this is a great base to explore. We love The Hawkshead Brewery & The Eagle & Child Inn for food and a beer from our walks."

    "Super holiday, with plenty of walking. Weather not too good, but can't expect any better at the beginning of February! It didn't spoil anything though. The local bus service is brilliant, too. The local shops and pubs are all very welcoming. We would recommend Riverside Cottage as a holiday base."

    "Great location to explore the Lake District and Staveley has superb amenities and coffee shops as well as a fantastic starting point for walks or cycling. The cottage was warm and cosy! On street parking was the only possible down side but wasn’t a problem for our stay."

    "Loved the cottage, area, plenty to do even at back end of the year. Great base for walking. All that you need to relax when you return later in the day. Two ovens ideal. Parking can get a bit manic but none the less a great holiday."
