"We have just returned from our short break at C17th Castle, and would like you to know how very much we enjoyed it. We had the castle all to ourselves and explored every turret! The master suite had wonderful views of the sea and surrounding countryside, and yes, we could see Wales too. The only company we had were two Easter bunnies munching their way through the grass outside, although we understand deer make an appearance from time to time. The castle was pleasantly furnished in a faded elegant way and the chandeliers were splendid. There was a high standard of cleanliness. The sheets were white and fresh and there was an abundance of towels for bath and pool. The pool was a good size and temperature and we made good use of it. It was possible to walk along the sea side which was accessed by a path to the left of the nearby golf club. We would recommend taking walking boots and trainers for rain/sun walking. Three major supermarkets are within a ten minute drive of the castle. We would like to make special mention of Neil who made our stay so relaxing. Last but not least we would like to thank you for this wonderful prize and your generosity in giving it. Our very best wishes to you all"

"This was a special occasion for my family; our 50th Wedding Anniversary. I think all 12 were captivated by the Windmill and its location. It was all well presented and the accommodation was impressive. This is the 11th Rural Retreat property that my wife and I have taken and although we have rated it 5 Star, it was soured by the lack of a welcome hamper totally inadequate for 12 guests, barely sufficient for two guests; 2 pkts bacon, 10 eggs, 1 carton fruit juice, 1 loaf of bread,3 tiny pieces of cheese, 2 pts milk, 1/2 lb butter, fruit, 2 pkts welsh cakes, one 6 inch cake, 1 bot wine, left over cereal in plastic container, coffee in cady and a few tea bags. For the price we paid and the number guests, in comparison with all our previous Rural Retreats venues, this was a totally inadequate welcome hamper and almost pointless as a welcome for 12 guests; nowhere near the standards set and expected from Rural Retreats. I cannot see how it can be justified. Please make this known to Rural RetreatsMany thanksTom O'Brien"

"Hi we had a very chilled out few days at this lovely homely quiet secluded cottage . We were lucky to have great weather so spent most of the time out in the lovely garden. Our dog loved exploring in it. The views were fantastic loved to watch the boats going by. Loved all the extras that were left for us tea coffee milk biscuits everything had been thought off. We didn't find the access a problem to the cottage it was only a few steps down the slope but can imagine it would be slippy in the winter. Maybe a rail to hold on too as you go down. Walked both ways along the coastal path . Found a lovely bay called ladye bay you could walk too and it would probably take 40 minutes but was too hot for our dog so we drove there each day plenty of parking too and very dog friendly. The owners were very helpful and e.mailed us the easiest route to get there and we found it very easy. Plenty of shops to choose from . We went to Tesco and Aldi. Thank you for a great holiday and we hope to come back soon Mandy and Andy and Max"

"The cottage was lovely had brilliant views but the trek to the cottage was horrendous, due to the path from the car park to another car park, this was uneven no lighting at night and when wet was very slippy. the walk then to the cottage from the second car park was well lit until you got to the gate leading to the cottage, there was another incline and three steps to negotiate so by the time you arrived you had to rest. It was stipulated that it was not suitable for the disabled but disability comes in many forms and therefore the write up on this cottage should state not suitable for people with heart problems or breathing issues. There is no handrail on the first path and with the uneven walkway would think this would be an Health and Safety issue."

"What an amazing place! My friends and I had a fantastic time at Llancayo Windmill, such a special venue and so well equipped. From the moment we drove up the long impressive drive to the windmill we were all blown away. The owners have done a fantastic job renovating this amazing building. Great bedrooms, amazing lounge and dining room, perfect for our 40th celebrations. Lots to do in the area too, I cam highly recommend the Ancre Hill Estate for some wine tasting and Monmouth canoe hire for a trip down the river, and for a real treat have Jane White email@example.com cook for you at the Windmill. Thank you it was epic, the fact we arrived in the middle of a heat wave too was the icing on the cake."
