We have just returned from a fabulous week at windy mundy farm with very mixed feelings.

This property is stunning and the views amazing and it is so remote and peaceful, the farm is well equipt with everything you need including dish washing tabs ,laundry tabs, bin bags, wash cloths and scourers, tea, coffee ,sugar, biscuits milk etc, everything is really well thought out. however we did have a few major niggles, the air vent in the kitchen is filthy, the "sumptuous" sofas are in a terrible sun bleached and stained condition and were extremely uncomfortable to relax on, there are an awful lot of blown windows which make it difficult to see the stunning views, while we were there for some reason none of the showers had hot water and could only achieve tepid water at most, the bedroom in the separate games room was absolutely freezing so had to add a heater that was found in another bedroom and also the shower in that complex only had cold water. the cleanliness unfortunately was not the best, some of the taps and shower hoses are terribly grimy especially room B and C, the microwave is truly gruesome, all the inside is rusted and it stank, curtains are ripped, there are mega dust webs everywhere and carpets have dog pee stains dotted about, but the biggest niggle was the path leading to the farm which is absolutely horrendous!! we understand this is a farm path with tractors passing through but a little hardcore to fill some of the many potholes would not go a miss, after two trips out we decided not to venture out for the rest of the week because it was just uncomfortable driving especially for the elder and pregnant who were in our family.

We rented Windy Mundy for a long weekend with a groups a friends from our University days.

It was a party of 11 adults and the house was perfect. All the rooms were spacious and comfortable with excellent facilities to cook for a large party. There was plenty of room for people to chat in small groups as well as for us to eat together at the large sociable dining table. The location is quite isolated (which was perfect for us as there was a bit of Karaoke going on) so there are no neighbours to disturb !! The house itself has a very welcoming feel, 'farm house' with some very stylish features and everyone commented on how comfortable it felt i.e. you felt immediately at home there. We mostly stayed at the house but did venture into Shrewsbury which is about 30 mins by car and is a lovely town. We also took our dog for a walk along the river and he had a lovely time. The shops were a bit different and characterful with some standard retailers as well as niche boutiques. A few people from our group visited the Shrewsbury prison tour which they found very interesting and worthwhile. A couple of minor points (as we would highly recommend this house). It was a little tricky to find so some improved instructions would help. We went along the track road a number of times and turned back not realising how far along the house is. Location of keys to access the sauna etc was not clear - again a few more instructions would help. The hot water pressure is weak and maybe a bit more guidance on re cycling bottles etc. Thank you for letting us stay in this wonderful house - we had a fabulous time !!! xxx

This is a charming cottage which could be described as a rural idyll. The area is interesting with little narrow twisting lanes (care needed!) and there are a few good places to eat nearby. It is well-equipped. One or two problems with the equipment were swiftly sorted out by the managers. The narrow stairs might not suit everyone. Our major complaint would be the information book left at the cottage. There are virtually no instructions for any of the equipment which is a big drawback but can easily be addressed by the owners. A lot of the information leaflets need replacing. The arrangements for rubbish collection have changed. Several people have asked, in the visitors book, for a history of the cottage and this would be most interesting. It is tantalising not to have this information. We discovered that it is an old hunting lodge. The beautifully made paving outside the property does indeed contain deer’s teeth! The ruinous structure alongside the road opposite the entrance drive is an old tollhouse. There is a lovely piece of garden and woodland surrounding the cottage with paths for woodland walks. Our misfortune (well, it was January) was the exceedingly wet weather - even the paths were almost unusable, the lawn was soggy and it was difficult to walk our two dogs. However, in clement conditions this area would be a delight. In wet weather, what with the fords, poor road conditions and mud, it would be beneficial to have a 4x4!

Firstly I would say that Clematis Cottage is tastefully furnished and decorated and very well equipped, with good quality items and everything in the kitchen you could need ( a credit to the owners) and was very clean.

We did have to live out of our suitcase for the week, as whilst there is cupboard in the bedroom to hang clothes I wasn't tall enough to reach (had the same issue in the kitchen cupboards) and there were no drawers in the bedroom to put undies, tshirts, jumpers in etc. Aside from the internal door from the kitchen into the bathroom and a door into a box bedroom, there are no other internal doors, so therefore if one you is downstairs watching the TV and the other is in bed the sound does carry upstairs. The property does front directly onto the road which is quite busy throughout the day and evening, including quite a few HGV's, so traffic noise could be an issue for some, along with the fact the cottage is between 2 double blinds corners, so getting onto and out of the driveway onto the road can be a bit of a challenge and hairy as you have no idea what may come round the corner. Also would suggest only a small to medium size car would fit on drive. Whilst the bed and pillows were super comfy, unfortunately the week we visited the local farmers must have been in a hurry to get their harvest in, as there were large tractors and trailers going up and down the road constantly until 3.30am, so had 3 nights on the settee reading (appreciate this is something outside the controls of the owners)
