What our customers say about their holidays

    • Michael And Julie Prinzing - Verified booking

We had an extended stay in this wonderful cottage in Woodbridge and enjoyed it so much we returned to finish out our holiday there!

(March 26-April 7, then April 16-21). The description is accurate regarding the road noise and the stairs but as a previous guest said, these were just not an issue for us. The location is great with a pleasant walk to Woodbridge with all its fun shops, pubs, Co-Op, Green Grocer etc. It’s also a very short drive to Sutton Hoo (a must see). Or you can find breakfast and lunch just across the street or enjoy the Cherry Tree Inn Pub next door for lunch or dinner. Or just enjoy a home cooked meal in the well-equipped (and super clean and cute!) kitchen. The cottage is beautifully kept and has combined the Old-World charm of this historical building with all the modern updates that make this such an enjoyable and comfortable holiday let. The cottage is very cozy and filled with every amenity imaginable. We have so appreciated how much the owners have clearly made it their mission to make sure this would be a wonderful and comfortable stay. We also appreciated how available they are for answering questions, helping us find any resources we needed and their promptness in managing any issues that may arise. Much thanks to Janet and Gary for making this a delightful and relaxing stay. Your cottage and care showed a pride of ownership far beyond anything we have experienced in our travels here. Cheers! Well done!

Lovely cottage with pretty much all you need for a holiday.

The kitchen is well stocked with crockery, cutlery, utensils and cooking equipment. A compact dishwasher was very useful. The mezzanine sleeping area is spacious with good lighting and the bed us comfortable. There is not sufficient storage for clothing and there is ample room for a chest of drawers, which would be very beneficial. We resorted to storing clothing on the floor of the cupboard under the stairs. The sofa is not particularly comfortable; the leather cushion covers are slippery and not supportive. The bathroom is large and features a large walk in shower with a good flow from the head. The free-standing bath is good looking but impractical as it is effectively too long and the ends far too narrow to sit or lie comfortably in. The WiFi was nonexistent during our stay and two calls to the Agent failed to resolve that. Mobile reception was poor, making it impractical to rely upon in the absence of WiFi.

Overall we did enjoy our stay at Cherry Tree Cottage though before booking I would have liked to of known you have to go through next doors garden to get to own garden.

Would have preferred to leave back door open as weather was good to let my dog wander in & out. Next door’s garden was full of dog poo all week which was smelling quite bad so didn’t sit outside, plus the cushions for the loungers were out for washing!! Would have thought they would be available for first week of June as warm enough to sit outside. We found the bed a little hard but that’s personal preference. Cottage was very clean and had everything we needed really great location for exploring the area, Woodbridge has loads to offer & walking by the river early morning with our dog was bliss calling into Brownbread bakery for coffee & a pastry is missed now back home. Would recommend cottage as overall we had a brilliant week, just a shame about garden access with a dog. Owner was extremely helpful when we miss placed key (dropped it in boot of car) there’s another key safe by back door which we’d not seen.

We stayed at Poppy Cottage over Christmas.

It was cosy enough to stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Suffolk countryside, punctuated only by the ducks on the pond and the faint noise of a train in the distance, while also being close enough to so many wonderful locations when we felt like venturing out. Poppy Cottage is probably the best situated of the cottages in the complex for huddling down in bad weather; it looks out onto the sheltered courtyard, so we never felt battered by the occasional squalls of heavy wind and rain. When the weather permitted, we took trips to Aldeburgh, Sutton Hoo, and Framlingham, all of which were short pleasant drives; the location really couldn't be better. Lyndsey was friendly and helpful, and dropped by with mince pies to make us feel welcome. I can highly recommend a stay at Poppy Cottage.
